Happy Endings is one of the funniest show on tv, I’ll never understand why it gets such terrible ratings.

I love that Dixie wasn’t adjusted UP, and TBS won’t pick up HE, CT > HT. PENNY CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!

Maybe Happy Endings is suffering in the rating because most people just don’t think it’s very good. I’ve liked a few of the episodes ok, but overall I’m usually pretty disappointed with it. And I tried to get my girlfriend to watch, but she eventually stopped watching and declared: “I’m not going to watch this anymore. I hate most of these characters.” My girlfriend grew up in Chicago, she’s the exact same age as the characters, and she can’t relate to any of them. So who does this show appeal to?

Dang it! I forgot all about a new episode of Hart and M.D. being shown. I’ll have to see it online or ondemand. I think the tuesday line up went down this week because of the holidays. They should be back up next week.

A show that gets a 1.5 is certain to be renewed on NBC? I can’t believe TNN is anything more than a toss up.

“A show that gets a 1.5 is certain to be renewed on NBC? I can’t believe TNN is anything more than a toss up.”

The latest predictions were made on Tuesday morning, and, while it may surprise you, I was unable to time travel to this morning to see the 1.5 rating.

Since you apparently seem able to time travel, could you please send me next weeks ratings now?

It would speed things up ever so much!

I’m bummed about Ben & Kate. I just started watching and it’s hilarious.

“Nope EOMD still has some life, come on its fighting back. Give it some credit.

Fingers crossed for a full season that is all I ask and hope for. Better this than repeats CW.”

EOMD is certain to be canceled by the end of the season.

It could get more episodes this season, but there’s no chance it sees next season.

Would it make any sense for ABC to move the two comedies to 8pm? Having comedies on ABC, NBC and Fox at 9pm Tuesday doesn’t seem to be benefiting any of them, least of all ABC, so perhaps a move to 8pm might increase ratings (and if ABC does this and the ratings don’t increase, then both shows are goners).

    Old Man,
How was Life of Pi? Is there intense violence or swearing? Might take the kiddo some time if it is truly PG.

Still didn’t get a chance to see the Fox, NBC and ABC comedies from last night. Will do soon since all I have new tonight are Whitney and GWK. And no Grimm Friday but there is a new LMS. No new NBC comedies tomorrow.

Happy Endings is like a younger skewing 30 Rock. It’s quick and quirky comedy that doesn’t appeal to a lot of people. It’s not endearing. It’s not asking you to like the characters, it’s asking you to laugh at the absurdity of it all. It’s just not everyone’s taste. I think Happy Endings is one of the freshest, funniest shows on TV right now, but I also hate The Big Bang Theory, which gets the big ratings numbers, so maybe I’m not one to trust. I think ABC had a good thing going with Happy Endings following Modern Family. Honestly, if it didn’t premiere after MF, I’m not sure I would’ve started watching it. I mean, anything’s better than having it follow Dancing With The Stars, I mean, do young hipster comedy fans (probably the demographic that’s gonna watch HE) watch DWTS??? No. They really killed a show that could’ve had potential. ABC has such a strong crop of original, smart comedies, it’s a shame nobody is watching them.

At any rate, I hope Parenthood continues to do well. Been watching it since the beginng, and can’t imagine going on with my life if it gets cancelled. It is one of the most consistently beautiful and quality dramas on the air right now, it’s a bummer that not a lot of people watch it. It’ll probably find it’s audience after it ends, a la Friday Night Lights.

@Laura ” I think ABC had a good thing going with Happy Endings following Modern Family” ARE YOU SERIOUS? It lost like 3 points of its lead-in (I don’t remember exactly), not to be a retentionista but it had the best lead-in on TV for two seasons, it should’ve found its own audience by now, don’t blame ABC.

    @Bill Gorman

I have been saying this for weeks now. The New Normal have zero chances of having a second season. It had high ratings at the beginning but all of that had been erased by now. It’s basically doing a Pan Am-slow death.

And if you look at how packed NBC’s schedule is for next year, there are surely going to be plenty of cancellations. Unless Normal gets a constant 1.8 in Spring, it’s gone along with Revolution and Chicago Fire.

  • JJ

ABC killed Happy Endings by moving it to Tuesday. They need to move Nashville to Sundays and add an hour of comedy back to wednesday nights at 10.

  • AO

Happy Endings had more than a Season (though less than 2) behind Modern Family in which to establish itself. It needed to sink or swim on it’s own elsewhere, just as Cougar Town did before it. As a fan of the show I had hoped for better, but the bottom line is that it had a fair shot and just hasn’t performed.

Bill Gorman, you have it in for a well written show like Emily Owens. In the film and televison industry your blog is known to be garbage.
You,by the way sound like an idiot!
Do you have any credentials to be judging these shows?

  • runey

Oh look EOMD got more viewers now than HOD – that goes to say that CW fans realized that EOMS got a better story line & better actress to booth – GO EOMD!

  • rob60990

“I mean, do young hipster comedy fans (probably the demographic that’s gonna watch HE) watch DWTS??? No.”

You are absolutely right here but Happy Endings should have its own audience. Where are all those viewers that watched it after MF like yourself?

“They really killed a show that could’ve had potential.”

ABC gave it a whole season behind their top rated show so it wasted whatever “potential” you and ABC thought the show had. The Middle has never aired 1 episode behind MF and grew audience on its own.

Not to be a hater, but I hate The New Normal. Yuk! So vulgar. I did like Partners better. I hope the NBC comedies continue to fall so that Guys with kids has a chance of another season…..not to be a hater thought….lol.
