Let me get it out of the way: yes, I am definitely experimenting with headlining in an attempt to increase page views for reasons explained below. And of course The Walking Dead will be renewed. But Alphas? Its future isn't as bright.
Back again with the scripted cable series renew/cancel status list - no predictions, just the status -- there's no good/easy/reliable way to make predictions with cable shows.
The alpha test of this list went OK and I really appreciate everyone's feedback. For now I'm sticking with it, but alas the traffic wasn't very good.
If it doesn't work out I don't want to hear any "TV by the Numbers never loved that list! They always planned to burn it off! They didn't promote it enough! It had the wrong title! It had a bad timeslot!"nonsense. I love this list and want it to succeed!
We have never gone with the begging style of "please link/tweet/share this post" route. We're data driven and we stick with what we can see folks are interested in. But it can't hurt if you tell your friends and family!
--
Most of the shows on the list have statuses - if there isn't a status that just means there has been no announcement at the time of the most recent update (see date at top of post and/or above the table below).
If you find errors or omissions (excluding unscripted shows, kids shows or shows that have not aired yet) please note them in the comments and I'll update the table.
Notes:
- Kids shows and Adult Swim shows are not on the list below
- I've seen some squawking about shows on the list below that are owned/created by networks/studios outside of the United States. For purposes of this list, which focuses on U.S. cable networks, I'm only focused on where the shows air here in U.S.
- Shows from overseas like Downton Abbey & Sherlock that air on PBS in the U.S. are not in the list below (PBS is not a cable network), though ITV has renewed Downton Abbey for a 4th season in the UK which will ultimately aire in the states.
- Despite some current inconsistencies in the table below, I do not intend to track episode orders or return dates specifically in this table at this time. The primary goal of the table is: what's been renewed, what's been canceled, and what shows fates haven't been decided yet.

And just looking again, so many are already either renewed for their next season already or canceled/last season already (which would be their “prediction” statuses) that there wouldn’t be that many to do true predictions on.
But regardless, I do love the work you put into the statuses and would hate for such an organised and concise list to go away.
Also, separately, The Killing is being seriously considered by netflix and rumour is that a deal is close to being done to bring it back for a third season through netflix.
And what does the “but” in “renewed for a third season, but…” mean for Hell on Wheels?
I wonder if its make or break time for Bunheads. The program received a back order after finishing with a strong (for this show) closing episode. However, the rating up to that time were relatively low for a show that ABC Family had so heavily promoted. I can only speculate that the Olympics might have adversely influenced those ratings. However, if its ratings don’t at least rise somewhere close to PLL’s, I don’t see Bunheads being renewed for a second season.
Alphas is over…. They ended it on a perfect note- no cliffhanger or anything…. everyone but the Autistic kid is dead…. Let it lie Syfy- don’t pull a Warehouse on it and bring everyone back, and if you recast the entire show you might as well make a new (better) show entirely!
I wonder what happened to Beavis and Butthead?
Style network garbage?
@Tommy Mickens
From the wikipedia:
“Following the departure of John Shiban the renewal was put on hold until a replacement could be found”
You need to add “Underemployed” MTV. It’s definitely the best scripted show on MTV, but the ratings seem pretty weak. Although I know nothing about historical precedent for MTV ratings at 10 pm on Tuesdays.
@Robert
I agree with Tommy. A prediction, no matter how “safe” could only help traffic and if formatting is an issue, you could just kill the “Current / Last Season” column and put that info in the “Status” column.
The League deserves another season WAY more than It’s Always Sunny.
Merlin cancelled

Prob the right time tbh
This is really a cool list. Have to admit I’m guilty of not leaving comments (honest) as much as I should, so in view of the traffic problem will try my utmost in the future to do so.
And if I may say, I also appreciate the fact that my comments are recognized by TVBTN unlike the advertisers who ignore the 50+ Demo. Since I tend to watch more cable than Network, again let me say that I truly appreciate this new addition.
I’ve also been telling friends & family of this website & will continue to do so.
Carry on!
@ Robert
Why is there no listing for Discovery?
@ekras
Alphas ended on a perfect note??? With no cliffhanger? Sorry, but seeing the entire cast but one lying either dead or unconscious on the floor of Grand Central Station is not a satisfying series conclusion to me. You’ve got to be kidding. I want to see what happens next! Renew Alphas, SyFy!!!
@ Robert
You are rather slow to the Merlin Is Dead news. Surely it could generate some traffic. Since it has yet to be shown on Syfy maybe you could have some fun with ‘BBC cancelled it; will Syfy Save The Sorcerer’.
@ The Old Man
This is scripted programming and i have yet to discover any comedies on that channel.
Agreed that Alphas needs to return and the finale certainly was not conclusive as the machines that Stanton built was supposed to take out normal people and enhance the abilities of Alphas, not kill them.
@ Jessica
I thought of that after I submitted, but I was thinking of Yukon Men, Moonshiners & Gold Rush that are supposed to be UNscripted(!?).
Thanks for the great catch!
Love the list: no predictions, just facts. It’s refreshingly easy to read and very comprehensive. Nice work!
Continuum should be added to Syfy’s list, as it’s now got an official January broadcast date (and S2 was already greenlit in Canada). And I agree that it’s time to take Sanctuary off the list, since it ended a full year ago (Dec. 2011).
How about adding Reelz dramas to the list? There is “XIII” and “Bomb Girls” for starters.
I notice there’s no standing on Doctor Who. Since the BBC has indicated that there will be a 50th anniversary production in the fall of 2013, that pretty much indicates the show will be back. What isn’t known yet is whether they plan to do a full season or a series of specials or just the one. The series is not considered in any danger of cancellation at any rate.
