Due to the nature of live sports programming the ratings for  ABC and FOX ( College Football)  are approximate and subject to more than the typical adjustments in the final numbers.

ABC was number one last night with adults 18-49 and with total viewers.

On ABC, College Football (Notre Dame/USC) scored a preliminary 4.4 adults 18-49 rating, way  up from last week's 2.2.

On FOX, College Football (Stanford/UCLA) notched a preliminary 0.5 adults 18-49 rating, down from last week's 0.8

On CBS, 48 Hours earned a 0.7, down four tenths from last week's 1.1. Made In Jersey earned a 0.3, a far cry from its last original's 0.8 rating (which aired back in October, before the series was canceled).

Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    “our sports crazy country is beating up network shows on saturdays and sundays with college and nfl football. best nights for network are monday-fridays until the college bowl season starts.”

    1. What broadcast shows are being beaten up on Saturdays?
    2. The ratings for non-Saturday regular season college games are almost always very low.
    3. There has been an NFL game on Sunday night for 25 years, and on Monday night for 42 years. This is not something new.
    4. After the NFL season is over there isn’t going to be an increase in ratings for the other shows on Sunday and Monday if past history is any indicator.

    @Damo

    Of course i’m being sarcastic lol, i’m not that crazy :)

  • Damo

    @Crim TV

    Kinda guessed that so what do think of made in jersey anyway and I don’t think its going to be on Saturdays much longer i’d prefer them to air partners

  • rob60990

    I’m sure Partners will get Saturday burnoff too.

  • NDfan1

    Alright: to all the haters out there Notre Dame is number one. We deserve to be in the national championship and no one can argue that. We are ND!

  • Kyle

    I think we can argue that NDfan1

    For an Indy movie that was received horribly, that’s not a bad rating

  • Joseph

    Has anyone heard anything about CBS trying to get the Southeastern Conference to move their football championship game next Saturday (between Alabama and Georgia) from 4:05 P.M. EST to 8:05 P.M. EST??

    Given last night’s (November 24th) ratings for the Notre Dame/Southern Cal game, I suspect the Eye Network is going to put the squeeze on the SEC.

    And speaking about Notre Dame, look for all seven of their games on NBC next year and in future years to be on Saturday nights with 7:35 P.M. ET kick-offs.

  • JSunkist

    CBS should play the 5th/final episode of Made in Jersey in January, just so each episode is aired in a different month

  • TomJH

    ND-USC game is always big even if one of the teams suck. When they are both good it’s the biggest game college football has.

  • CrimTV

    @Damo

    Never watched it, just making a joke :D Well isn’t it only burning off like 2 episodes as 4 were made, so there is no point not airing it’s 4th and final episode.

  • CrimTV

    @Myself

    Wait don’t listen to what I just said, there were not only 4 episodes made

  • Austin Lauran

    Bill,

    Do you know what the highest rated episode of NCIS is (in the 18-49 demo)? I was just asking because there was an NCIS rerun yesterday night.

  • Austin Lauran

    Bill,

    Do you know what the highest rated episode of NCIS? I was just asking because there was an NCIS rerun yesterday night.

  • Austin Lauran

    I didn’t mean to post the same comment twice

  • CrimTV

    @Austin Lauran

    On September 22 and 29, 2009 NCIS hit a 4.8 in the 18-49 demo. That’s the highest rating that’s available.

  • tony

    If networks would stop putting reruns and and burning off failed shows on Saturday, they could actually get high rated shows on Saturday. But looks like they gave up on that for good.

  • KevinY

    I thought they had filmed 7 episodes of Made in Jersey but I only see evidence of 5 total. Perhaps episode 6 was in post-production and episode 7 was being filmed when they pulled the plug. Either way, I’m glad CBS is at least showing some of them.

  • Edward

    This great news for ESPN for this past saturday and going forward towards the national championship game. If you get Alabama vs Notre Dame. Your looking at easily +30mill. Possibly even close to 35. That would be in Texas/USC territory.

  • Edward

    Also, to boot. If you had a playoff format for some of these playoff games….ESPN, CBS, NBC whoever does these games. Would just be beaming. You’ve 8-9 teams that you could make the case are BCS worthy of the national championship game. Bottom line FOOTBALL is king of true reality tv. Survivor and all of those other shows can hit the road…lol
