I am nominating my family for the ——-
I will give you a shortened version of out little family – a family deserving because they have continued the walk – not faltering and continue to be an inspiration to others:
My name is Katie Johnson — I had 2 boys (Jon and Tyler Jackson). These boys were raised by a single mother and yet excelled …
Jon was killed on Super Bowl Sunday February 6, 2005 leaving a wife (Christie and 2 children, Fayth and Kobie)….3 yrs later his new little boy, Kobie drowned. It does not end there —
My other son, Tyler was married with a little boy when shortly after their daughter was born, Audrey (my daughter-in-law) was diagnosed with Lymphoma…that year of chemo and radiation, my son (Tyler) took care of both children (getting up during the night for every feeding for the baby….would get up in the morning, feed both children their breakfast – take them to babysitter and off to work he would go. During this year, Tyler finished remodeling the basement, worked his full-time job, worked at a restaurant on Friday nights and helped move furniture on Saturdays, coached youth sports —- and at the same time was there for his sister-in-law Christie…and was a father to his niece (Fayth- who recently posted on Facebook that he was her Superhero!
…where was I in this? Yes. It was my son who was killed. It was my grandson who drowned. My daughter-in-law who had cancer………..then, my father was diagnosed with Leukemia…I would stay with him – cooking meals, giving my mother a break from being a caretaker….would sit with him in the hospital until he passed away…and now? I married a man whose wife passed away from Leukemia! Yes, his children have suffered – they lost their beloved mother (also 2 boys, one wife and one grandchild)…WE are ARE.and now we feel 2013 is going to be an awesome year…we have each other.
Now I have given you the Reader’s Digest version of our little family – don’t you think we all deserve some joy in our lives? This family has walked through fire but, we are strong – full of love and have empathy for others who have suffered. We have held each other up – hugged and cried – leaned on God and had so many friends and family praying for us….NOW IS TIME TO CELEBRATE! Please consider us!!!.
