11/28 Update: Emily Owens, MD has been canceled.
As many commenters have noted, the CW hasn't released its entire mid-season/spring schedule yet. One likely reason for that could be that it won't include Emily Owens, M.D. and networks typically want to put out bad news for shows that are still airing as late as possible. Emily Owens is certain to be canceled by the end of the season.

CW dramas The Beauty & The Beast,  Hart Of Dixie and 90210 are all still "toss ups" for cancellation or renewal by the end of the season. Unlikely those predictions change before the end of 2012.

How can Nikita with absolutely "look away" bad ratings be "likely to be renewed"? The pull of a fourth season for syndication purposes is one of the strongest forces in the TV universe. Read more about it here.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

Too bad for Mamie Gummer; she’s anywhere got no relation to Josh Warts.
Josh Warts’ shows just averaging from 0.3-0.5 in ratings yet could runs up till Season 5. Its just WHOM you know at CW-EEEW that matters.

  • Promoist

    Wooooooooooooooooo! Yes! Yes! Yes!

  • Restless

Yeah totally, you’ll see GG on a different network… in syndicated reruns. You can watch it right now on Style every Wednesday.

  • gail

NO! Dont cancel emily owens m.d!pls!!!!!!!!!

  • Tracy

Wow EOMD cancelled? YAWN…what a shock. Wtf was the Cw thinking uh hello HOD is way funnier with the one liners. Who doesn’t love rachael bilson? She’s cute and conveniently channels summer Roberts into Zoe hart perfectly.

Anthony C.: “Margaret Cho was the first asian american to star in her own tv series…All American Girl.”

Ok, correct. But that was a comedy series, not a dramatic series.

  • Richard Steven Hack

John A: “How about being a bit more grateful about CW renewing Nikita since it has abysmal ratings instead of labeling it a pathetic network?”

It IS a pathetic network. Everyone knows that. You gotta problem with that?

“Anyway maybe Nikita is ‘pathetic’ instead of CW.”

Nope. I simply think there is a mismatch between the current CW general audience and people who might like Nikita on some other, probably cable, network. The show itself is quality in most respects: acting, writing, directing, plots, story arcs, and pace.

  • Richard Steven Hack

Pepper: “Nikita SHOULD be cancelled because even syndication can’t justify those numbers,”

Unfortunately for you we can’t know that. And even if you’re right, the CW does not agree with you. Deal.

  • Richard Steven Hack

Kevin: “Nikita- i find it completely hysterical that this excuse for television entertainment is still running!! i dont get it???? how ? why? CANCEL IT B4 I GO INSANE!”

If you were paying attention during any number of threads here about Nikita, you’d know why: syndication. It’s the only logical answer aside from the producers having video of a CW network execs “indiscretions”…

I find it hysterical that Fringe has gotten an utterly crappy and absurd fifth season. Nonetheless I deal with it. I even watch it, grimacing most of the way through it. :-)

  • Richard Steven Hack

    Brian: Are you serious?

IMDB: “This was the first U.S. television series starring an Asian-American…This series aired on the DuMont Television Network, which operated from 1946 to 1956.”

Yeah, while technically correct, I think the DuMont Television Network isn’t really considered “broadcast television” as we know it today. Thank you for playing.

Someone name me a scripted DRAMATIC series before Nikita where the lead was an Asian-American – male or female, but especially female. Or go home.

Bruce Lee is the only one that comes close as he was A lead – but not THE lead – in the Green Hornet, so don’t even try that.

What don’t you understand about the fact GG is cancelled for good. It’s done. No other network will pick it up and commission new episodes when there is nobody watching the show live on the cw. No more seasons of GG will be made…..Ever. Be thankful you’ll have reruns to keep you warm at night.

As for ANTM, it is the only hit reality staple that the CW has that actually has viewers. It’s cheap to produce and can be placed wherever and whenever the CW needs it on their schedule. That’s why it keeps getting renewed each Cycle.

  • John A

@RSH you say Nikita is great on a crap network? And you act like Nikita never had good ratings when in early season 1 it was over a 1.0 each week until it nosedived in 2nd half of season 1 and never recovered. People obviously stopped watching because they thought it was ‘pathetic’.

  • Madie

Beauty and the Beast will be renewed for another season.
    Hart of Dixie ?

    Emily Owens

What Shows are ending Their Series On The CW Network
What Shows are being Canceled On The CW Network

I Wish that GG will come back for Season 7

BATB will not be renewed for another season. It’s already pulling 0.6s and we’re not even into the second half of the season. I wasn’t a huge fan of TSC, but wasn’t it getting 0.8s until the winter hiatus?

  • Peter Mazz

    The midseason schedule should be:

    8:00 – The Carrie Diaries
    9:00 – 90210

    8:00 – Beauty & The Beast
    9:00 – Hart of Dixie

    8:00 – Arrow
    9:00 – Supernatural

    8:00 – The Vampire Diaries
    9:00 – Cult

    8:00 – Nikita
    9:00 – Arrow Repeats

  • Peter Mazz

I think that B&TB Will be renewed because it’s been consistent trough the season, (since episode 3, it has been pulling 0.7 – 0.6) Besides, it could be paired with Wunderland, it’s the same procedural drama. :D And Hart of Dixie was renewed last year because of its consistency :D

  • Martine

Why don’t they cancel Nikita. Look at the facts; No ONE WANTS IT. Even in syndication it won’t make a dime. I doubt its going to do amazing anywhere. Its a dreadful show.
