@ Conor
Believe it! The Walking Dead is a beast! Amazing ratings, here’s to the mid-season finale breaking another record…it’s own record!
I’m skeptical too. They should be higher.
john a,
homeland has buzz and that’s why it’s been growing and is why it’ll grow again when season 3 begins. dexter, SOA, etc didn’t become monster hits overnight. they grow each season.
wait, isn’t that a SERIES HIGH FOR HOMELAND in viewers?! the previous high figure was 2.07 million viewers. this show has been sitting a series high in either viewers or demo every other week.
Walking Dead is overrated. The ratings are too high for the product and quality it delivers. My generation makes me puke.
@Bee
Dexter is a monster hit? On what planet? Certainly not on earth.
lol why would people now start being skeptical about TWD ratings? It’s consistent with how it’s been performing for the whole season… and season to season the ratings have simply been growing…
I hope it breaks 6.0 in the demo this week for the midseason finale!
“As Yoda noted, That is why you fail.”
I LOL’d.
@Michael
In 1999 The Sopranos debuted on HBO. The networks still haven’t learnt and keep feeding us with cheesy, middle-of-the road stuff with cardboard characters and same plots. At this point I don’t think they will ever learn.
On the other hand, almost all cable -with the exclusion of TNT and Lifetime- took notes. And it shows.
“Dexter is a monster hit? On what planet? Certainly not on earth.”
Actually, yes, this planet. Dexter put Showtime on the map for scripted shows pretty much. It started slow (much like Homeland did last year), and gradually became a big hit. A 1.0-1.2, which Dexter has been getting this year, is a huge hit for Showtime, when most of their other scripted fare get 0.4-0.5, and its a network available in far fewer homes than AMC or even HBO. And it’s dominating Boardwalk Empire in the same slot. It’d be like a show on NBC getting a 4.5 or so. (keep in mind when I say start slow, I mean by ratings, not by quality)
Id just like to see Homeland match Dexter thats all.
Why isn’t there a renew and cancel index for reality show?
(Nick) Anything on Oprah’s Next Chapter interview with the new king of pop…Justin Beiber?
@cory
No it’s NOT a monster hit. Sorry. Even if Showtime is limited, only 2 million people are watching Dexter. It’s a minor hit at best.
with all this talk about cord cutters , cord never , younger people don’t watch or don’t have televisions they watch on laptops and tablets , one can take into consideration that it could be high. Nickelodeon was complaining a while back about the ratings. then again maybe 30-49 year old’s make up the 18-49 demo. and a show like the walking dead could not be on regular television. its too dark for broadcast standards.
It’s like CW fans calling Arrow a monster hit. Choose words carefully. Let me break it down for you. Shows like The Walking Dead(5.0+) is a monster hit. Sons of Anarchy(2.0+) is a hit(not a monster hit though). Dexter(1.0+-) is a minor hit for the network it’s all.
also, talking dead has been consitently getting in the 1must be nice seeing that it costs practically nothing to make. i know me and others say that every week, but it is very impressive. and let us not forget comic book men. .6, cneap reality show. anything to brag about, no, bit its a nice little fit in a monster of a night. walking dead 5.4 repeat ( a repeat is the second highest rated cable show of the ngiht! insane) re[eat gets 1.6 talking dead is fairly high on the list ( 7th out of a 100 places) with a 1.1 so this is just unreal. and lastly comic book men. well, not quite as impressive, but the killing (a scripted show that cost much mnore to produce) somehow got renenwed. so comic book men is doing very well. great night all around! and the walking dead is the highest rated scripted show on tv, broadcast or cable. and the 2nd highest rated program, besides football. which i never thought a cable series could do. cable shows get a 2 or above and its huge. i mean, SOA pulls a 2.8, and its a monster. walking dead season 1 finale pulls a 3 and its insane! now with 5s? a new word must be invented to specifically desribe this situaton.
@ jr that’s for one showing. Dexter is a hit through dvr / on demand multiple showings throughout the week.
I can’t believe cable’s highest rated show for the night is about zombies.
And TWD proves again it’s a monster hit
