The Cancellation Bear is eating well today. Emily Owens, MD has been officially canceled by the CW, but the network has announced that all 13 episodes ordered will air.

This was no surprise to anyone paying attention, and/or following our predictions all season long.

Why was the CW so adamant last week about Emily NOT being cancelled only to cancel it this week??? Obviously there was some truth to that initial report. This series was NOT for the CW audience at all.

@Dan S – All freshman series have had their fate sealed and its likely if shows get additional episodes like GWK and Malibu Country their fates wont be decided until May.

The next show cancelled will probably be a midseason series. I could see one of the new ABC comedies set to air this January be axed but ABC will probably let all episodes air through March. CBS’s next contender could be Friend Me or Golden Boy but I think CBS will let all episodes of both series air. NBC has a lot of midseason shows but again its likely that all episodes will air. Fox’s The Following will most certainly air all episodes and when Ben & Kate ends its run Goodwin Games only has 7 episodes so its unlikely FOX will pull that series.

The general consensus for this season is “We will not order any more episodes but all episodes ordered will air” Since numbers for all series are down considerably (Big Bang excluded) the networks feel that instead of pulling series for repeats, they opt to air the full runs out. The only exception is Animal Practice but the remaining 3 episodes were released online, and Partners which will probably return next summer.

”The Slow Season Is Here!!” Jajajaja LOL, True, true…

I’m a little sad and worried about HoD, this years ratings are much more lower than last year, Last year, HoD could pull a 0.7, Now just 0.5 – 0.6 U_U Why do you think that HoD is going to be renewed?? ._.

  • Peter Mazz

@Dan I don’t think that that’s going to be the mid season schedule??

I think it’s going to be with B&TB staying in its timeslot, while Cult premieres at 8:00 with Niktia following at 9:00, or B&TB premiering at 8:00 on fridays, and Cult at 9:00 on thursdays, with repeats after HoD ;)

@Doug– They won’t have time to rewrite the entire episode, but they should, assuming they feel like it or they don’t like the end they already have, have time to add/change a couple scenes to give closure.

It is how they roll around here so you have to have tough skin. There will always be people who insult you for liking a show, root for your show to get cancelled, and celebrate when it is cancelled.

Right.. I watch all the cw shows except for Beauty and the Beast. But i’m not hoping it will get axed.

Why make comments on a show you clearly don’t watch just to upset people who actually watch it. You’re being childish.

Partners, 666 Park Ave, now this. I have the worst luck with new shows.

I’m gonna enjoy the final 7 episodes & seeing Justin in glasses. No more new CW shows for me.

Only good show on the CW is Nikita.

@ Sarah Re: “There will always be people who insult you for liking a show,….”

That’s usually the case when someone is trying to defend a low rated show that simply won’t go away. In other words, all but three of the CW’s programs. If you take this site literally, it’s irrelevant if you like a show. EO had a million viewers this week, so someone is always going to make a favorable comment about it. The pertinent question is whether the ratings will support a show’s continued existence. For some reason, Revolution remains the major exception to this rule. It has good ratings but Tracy Spiridakos is a lightning rod for a lot of determined criticism. Hence, the frequent number of comments about whether Revolution will return from its hiatus with diminished ratings. For now, I’d be perfectly happy if contributors would quit hyping network shows with cable-like ratings. All they’re doing is wasting time because the public has already spoken.

Too bad for Mamie Gummer; she’s anywhere got no relation to Josh Warts.
Josh Warts’ shows just averaging from 0.3-0.5 in ratings yet could runs up till Season 5. Its just WHOM you know at CW-EEEW that matters.

Now that the show is canceled, The CW needs to order season 3 of The LA Coomplex! Do a mid-season premiere of season 3. The show will rock!

They misled viewers into thinking it was a dramedy. Turned out to be a slow drama with lackluster punch lines for comedy.

  • Ram510

Just bring back Reaper. The 2 male leads aren’t doing anything anyways
