    Love Supernatural, this season is actually very good..I don´t get people who complains about Cas or funny episodes…they are amazing I always looked forward to them every season – they make series so unique – they add amazing humour and creativity.

  • KS

    I simply don’t understand, why people are calling MoTWs as the fillers? They are bread and butter of Supernatural. Myth arcs were always not that great on Supernatural. It’s the monster of the week stories and brothers – that is what makes this show interesting. I would call myth-arc episodes are secondary.

    “Promo is Bad” – One of the funniest and stupidest Fan Excuse Bingo, I have ever heard.

    I’m apparently being blocked from commenting again.

    Why are there so many people here talking about detailed plot points of CW shows that nobody watches?

  • thesnowleopard

    @Selen
    Sorry, but I think you’ve mistaken this ratings site for a fan site. If you’re looking for sympathy for your Samgirl butthurt, you should probably try elsewhere.

    @Caroline
    Yeah, I’m sure the CW will cancel its third-highest rated show because an ex-fan from another country doesn’t like it, anymore.

    I wish that SPN had simply started the season where it ended. Show Dean in purgatory and Sam doing whatever Sam was doing. The writers feel we don’t want to see Dean and Sam apart but damn, what are they doing this season. The chemistry is slipping away. Falshbacks are annoying to me in most shows. And give Cas back his slightly angry mojo. This goofiness is not appealing. That angel has a lot going for him even with the guilt.

  • CoolRanchDoritos

    No i do not Dan. This is my first season watching live. (i did watch S1-7 in 20 days) & i love the show. Yes there have been episodes where i was bored outta my mind but i still kept going.

    7th Heaven went on for 11 freakin years. Smallville went on for 10 yrs. Tree Hill had 9 years.

    Plus if J2 want to keep going since they already signed on for S9 & 10 then they should keep going. I’m sure theres stuff they haven’t covered yet.

    I’m going to highly upset if i just started watching this show for it to end.

    @thesnowleopard

    I think you are under a delusion that your “official discussion” threads on IMDB board are actually Official. How come every viewer knows that 8.06 has Castiel in it? Because every viewer posts on your threads or be so excited to watch the next episode of Supernatural, that they would check all the spoilers,promos,sneak-peaks, promotional photos and interviews? You yourself said in a previous post that people might have been confused about the date of the episode after mini-hiatus. How can people not know date of the episode and know everything else?

    I personally don’t think, presence or absence of Castiel affects the ratings. And, definitely NOT bad promos. I am sure Supernatural or many other shows had bad promos in the past but the episodes would have had good ratings.

  • Carl

    @Mary, I haven’t heard anyone say get rid of the Winchester brothers. Or even get rid of Sam. I do think a lot of people, including some Sam fans, question his story this season, and feel it actively drags down the show. That’s not Sam’s fault, or JP’s fault, but shows how poorly written the character has become in recent years. Dean, Cas, Benny, that whole group, are the reason I’m still watching the show. Season 7 was about the brothers and the show still had no idea how to write for Sam, or Dean for that matter.

  • Carl

    @KS, the reason the viewers would know is because the CW ran a WELCOME BACK CASS promo for 8.07 immediately after 8.06 aired. They wouldn’t have to work hard to figure out he was in there.

    I don’t think Castiel alone affects the ratings (although he certainly gets the blame when they decline), but I do think promos make a difference. I think in this case the promo showed some funny scenes that weren’t all that funny, and also gave the impression this was a comedy episode when someone who tuned in would find people talking about suicide and senility. I doubt that was enough to cause many viewers to tune out, but I think it helped. The other I’d mostly blame on storytelling issues this season.

  • KS

    @Justin121

    I think you are too Sam-centric. Supernatural definitely need great characters like Bobby etc to keep the show lively and good. I am always open-minded to new characters on the show. I loved Bela, Ruby, Ellen, Jo, Anna, Zachariah, Uriel, Chuck, Gabriel(trickster) and now we have one more promising character Naomi.

    And I agree with you regarding Castiel. He over-stayed his welcome and should’ve left the show after season 4 or at least after season 5. Making him the center of almost every storyline in season 6 and season 7 made the show lose most of its charm and I am glad that Amanda Tapping finally poured some life into that godawful character. I actually am invested in his story arc this season. Also, at least this season, writers didn’t have to find some stupid lame excuse to somehow keep him on screen.

  • Percysowner

    @Justin21 Supernatural was not a season low. The premiere only got a .8 in the demographic. It jumped after that until Bitten, the other “unique” episode where the demographic fell to .7. Then it went back up until this week. So, no this is not a season low and there isn’t enough info to say why this dropped.

  • Freyja

    People like @Caroline who think the show is doing bad in the ratings obviously just appeared this week, just to complain LOL

    People like @Caroline who want the show to die because they hate it need to grow up some…

    @Dan,

    No I want SPN to go out when it feels like going out, not when the fandom decides for it. If it’s gotta a couple of years left in it then cool, I’ll be around.

    As for the others, the MOTW episodes only work when the storyline is decent and good, and other than the Castiel plot line the episode was a bore. I am not into the Sam Flashbacks because they pull you out of the current story. (that doesn’t mean I am a Sam hater)

  • Percysowner

    @Dan No I don’t think this should be Supernatural’s last season. It’s getting good ratings for the CW. People are still emotionally invested. Just to note, I am personally unhappy with the route the writers are taking and unless I start liking the show again, I will probably stop watching. That, however, doesn’t mean the show should be canceled. If what I liked determined what shows were on Survivor would have died its first season out. If Supernatural is making you unhappy don’t watch.

    To whoever above said the CW should have give an chance to Emily Owens, they did. They bought the show. They partnered it with Hart of Dixie a compatible show. They broadcast it. That is giving the show a chance.

  • KS

    @Carl

    I agree with your post. It was reasonable. Promos do make a difference. But I don’t think up to a level where it causes double-digit percentage drop both in viewership and demo.

    Let me tell you something – my mom, for instance, usually forgets even the name of the movie she watched a few days ago. Because she is quite busy with other activities and not really dedicates her entire mind while watching the movie. I am NOT saying, every viewer is forgetful like my mom, but I think, not everyone shows great interest in watching promo as much as they watch episode. So, it is quite natural they may actually forget or ignore the promo.

    And I was talking about 806 and NOT 807.

  • RyanCanada

    its a ruff season for supernatural, im a long time fan, but there havent been great episodes, they have a great lead in, but but them wanting less screen time is really effecting the shows quality, and i hope those actors hear about it, im sure im not the only one who feels this way, also…. great episode of Arrow and Xfactor.

  • Carl

    I’m sorry. I thought you meant 8.07 since that had Castiel. 8.06 didn’t, although for some reason the CW ran a promo for 8.06 which showed him anyway.

    I would disagree that seasons 6 and 7 were Cas-heavy, as he was missing from a lot of season 6 episodes and was gone for almost all of season 7 (I think he was in 5 episodes and died at the start of one of them). He did heavily influence the season 6 story, but mostly at the end. I do think his stories in those seasons, especially season 7, were poorly done. This season has been much better, in his story and Dean’s, and how they intersect. I think they’ve made a mistake with Sam’s story and I think the continuity and energy aren’t up to the level they should be. I think they’re teaching some good psychological lessons but missing out on some of the thrill. That’s where good MOTW episodes would be a nice change of pace, if they didn’t seem randomly dropped in.

  • RyanCanada

    my advice to Supernatural – Bring Bobby Back! everyone dies and comes back lol

  • KS

    @Carl

    I disagree regarding Castiel in season 7. Yeah, his story was poorly done as usual. But he was responsible behind every major even that happened in season 7. Bringing out Leviathans, breaking Sam’s wall, curing it, indirectly responsible for Bobby’s death and hunting down leviathan. Winchesters seemed secondary in that season. In season 6 the Castiel was unbelievable. If he had said, the reason I want to take up souls is to rule heaven it would have been much better and I would have liked that character. Unfortunately, he never do things for himself. He is like a pet dog of Winchesters. That’s one of the reasons that character never interested me.

    @Tessa You are officialy my favourite person in the world!!Plz let me know your twitter account!

    @Caroline or Karolina who cares what you think? make yourself a favor and shut it! your not even in the US and keep dreaming, the CW would not cancel the third show with the highest rating in the whole network, whether you like or not SPN is gonna have at least a couple of years more!
