Will Moving to Friday at 8PM Help 'Nikita'? - Poll

Update: in the preliminary numbers for its first Friday back at 8pm, Nikita averaged a 0.4 adults 18-49 rating and 1.24 million viewers. The Arrow repeat at 9pm averaged a 0.3 and 1.06 million viewers.

Nikita returns tonight with a move to the Friday at 8PM time period where it aired last season. So far this season, the show has languished on Fridays at 9PM earning o.3 and 0.4 Adults 18-49 ratings. Its most recent episode, on November 9, scored an 0.3. At 8PM it will no longer compete head-to-head with Grimm and Fringe which could help improve its numbers. Then again, maybe viewers have just tired of the show or maybe killing off Percy was a mistake. How do you think it will do tonight? Make your predictions then explain your opinion in the comments.

    First to say “HELL NO”!

So much for the move to 9:00 p.m. being the cure for all Nikita’s ills.

  • POI

killing off Percy was a huge mistake but i still watch the show.

  • Greg

I’m going with a 0.4, but no more than that. Next season, the CW shouldn’t waste more money programming on Fridays. Arrow and The Vampire Diaries would do just fine.

  • Tom

@ Sara Xander Berkeley was clearly the best actor on Nikita. However, killing off his character was only a mistake in that Nikita was renewed after the conclusion of the two year story arc in which he excelled. As the show’s recent ratings indicate, the show has become pointless.

I could honestly see it going either way. I think there’s at least potential for the earlier timeslot that’s not against a bunch of other genre shows to help, but I don’t know how much at this point. Plus, Nikita’s schedule for the rest of the year is screwy, 2 weeks off, 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off, etc. Even if the earlier timeslot is ‘better’, ratings still may low due to people no knowing when it’s on (no matter how much people spread the news about the new timeslot and what days it’s new, I still see people constantly asking about it because they haven’t heard yet). I’ll be more interested to see ratings when it comes back next year and is on a regular schedule again. Plus a lot of shows drop in the second half of the year anyway. So yeah, I’m pretty much waiting to see how the ratings shake out next year before I make up my mind on a prediction on renewal for syndication.

actually they should move it out of Friday as overall

I don’t think anything can help Nikita now. It’s been bleeding audience and demo since the beginning, quite heavily, and this is the natural result.

I know I can’t complain since I’m the one who reads these posts, but come on guys. There’s two episodes of Nikita’s second season left to air in the U.K. and Ireland (we share the network) and Percy is still very much alive for us. His death was spoiled long ago for me, but I know anybody who hasn’t been given a chance to see the end of the second season would go crazy if it was spoiled for them on a website which is supposed to discuss ratings and renewal chances.

Obviously I’ll be entirely ignored because a majority of the site’s traffic saw Percy die months ago, but please have some consideration for those of us international readers who haven’t seen the episode yet. At least put a spoiler tag on the article so that we aren’t completely taken off guard.

Well that post was a huge failure. Obviously I need to catch up on my BB codes and use the correct email from now on. Guess I got rusty over the Summer.

  • Lovato

I’m glad they killed off Percy.
They should give a bigger role to Ryan Fletcher.

  • Brian

It’ll jump a bit to 0.5. But, Fridays on the CW only can get so high unless you got Smallville and Supernatural there.

  • Tyson

A.E, Nikita had the Thursday 9 slot after Vampire Diaries in its first year. Nikita couldn’t hold the audience any better than did The Secret Circle or Beauty and the Beast. Therefore, Nikita was moved to Friday.

The CW has eight Monday-Thursday time slots. Three of them (Arrow, Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries) seem to be locked. The other five are considered death slots–some more so than others–for various reasons.

My guess was a 0.4 like it was getting at the back end of season 2 but i’m hoping it may increase abit more but highly unlikely. Have to say this season so far has been decent but needs slightly more action to many relationships

  • jake

Please Watch Nikita tonight! PLEASE , PLEASE PLEASE! Thank you! This show deseres better ratings

  • jake

    *deserves

  • Joe Smith

it’s a fantastic show. even if it doesn’t survive, i’m gonna enjoy every minute left.

  • Dave Franco

    “Just tired of the show?”

The show is still the best on the network. It has nothing to do with Percy. He needed to die. Why not put Arrow on fridays? See how it fares.

  • JJA

Have any of you actually been watching Nikita season 3?

If you have, you’ll realize quite quickly that it has not been pointless. Episode 4 in particular set the stage for a potentially great storyline ahead.

As for ratings, I don’t see Nikita’s ratings changing all that much at 8 PM. Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Arrow re-run does better. For Nikita to actually improve, it will have to move to a different night AND be paired with an original of Vampire Diaries, Arrow or Supernatural (maybe Beauty & The Beast).

    Fingers crossed 0.0. Seriously i think just a 0.3
