SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME rating TIES AS HIGHEST COLLEGE FOOTBALL GAME OF YEAR WITH 10.0/21

FOR ALABAMA’S WIN OVER GEORGIA

CBS Sports’ national coverage of the SEC Championship game on Saturday, Dec, 1 (4:00-8:00 PM, ET), which saw Alabama defeat Georgia, 32-28, averaged an overnight household rating/share in the metered markets of 10.0/21, up 35%, from last year’s 7.4/15 for LSU-Georgia.

The SEC Championship game ties with last weekend’s Notre Dame-USC game as the highest-rated college football game of the year in the metered markets.

The Alabama-Georgia game peaked at a 13.3/25 from 7:30-8:00 PM, ET.

with everything on the line for both teams, its no wonder the game did as well as it did. Great college football game and great for college football. this BCS CHampionship game will do at least 27 million viewers which would be huge for cable.

That was an amazing game! Roll Tide Roll! Thought I was going to have a heart attack! All I can say is the deference in that game was the two point conversion what a freaking genius!

I’ve got this game doing at least 33-35mill. I think USC/Texas was 35 plus!

    Most watched BCS national championship – 2006 Rose Bowl (Texas/USC) – 35.6 million, 12.8 A18-49

    Cable record – 2011 BCS NCG (Auburn/Oregon) – 27.3 million 10.1 A18-49

CBS should have aired this game in prime-time.

Despite being on a Saturday, I think it could have gotten an 11-12 rating in prime-time.

I’m looking for the Notre Dame/Alabama BCS Championship to pull 33-34 million viewers for ESPN, and will be the most-watched cable program ever and the 12th most-watched TV program (behind only the NFL’s eleven postseason games) of the entire 2012/2013 season.

If the upcoming BCS final were on a broadcast network, it probably would have drawn 50 million viewers.

What were the local household ratings in Birmingham and Atlanta? Just curious.
