Nielsen TV Ratings: ©2012 The Nielsen Company. All Rights Reserved.

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

  • RJ

Is there ever Saturday final numbers?

  • touchsucks

just burn off.TBS don’t give damn on that conedy

  • Nick

    @RJ & tv#1

TVBTN doesn’t do Sat finals & cable ratings because nobody really cares about them.
Just look at the # of comments on the prelims. Only 4 people care enough to comment! Combine the fact that finals & cable ratings almost always get less views than prelims and the fact that they wouldn’t be available until Tuesday (it would get in the shadow of Sunday finals, Monday prelims & finals, end-of-week ratings, and the Renew/Cancel Index), it just wouldn’t be worth the effort.
However, a commenter in the Sunday cable ratings will give you broadcast & cable final ratings for Saturday if you ask. Also thefutoncritic.com has some select Saturday cable ratings (including TBS) that come out Tuesday afternoon.

For a reference point, It’s A Wonderful Life got 1.2 last year.

    Why the 33% drop? :-/

1.1 for CM and 4.8 million viewers mean all the viewers were 18-49 ?

  • RJ

    The Wedding Band:
    1×1 – 1.85 (0.8 demo)
    1×2 – 1.25 (0.5 demo)
    1×3 – 1.12 (0.5 demo)

If I had to guess, it’ll be cancelled.

“Do you guys ever do Saturday cable ratings.”

Not in a separate post, although if a Saturday show hits the cable top 25 for the week in viewership it will appear in that post on Tuesday.

“Is there ever Saturday final numbers?”

Not in a separate post, although if a Saturday show hits the broadcast top 25 for the week in either viewership or 18-49 demo it will appear in that post on Tuesday.

“1.1 for CM and 4.8 million viewers mean all the viewers were 18-49 ?”

No a 1.1 adults 18-49 rating means 1.1% of the US TV adults 18-49 were watching or about 1.4 million adults 18-49.

You can see more about the number of people in the commonly cited ratings groups here.

I hope CBS will release the ratings for the game because I know they had to be crazy with how close it was until the end. Since the game was over before 8, I doubt that the 1.5 reflects anything close to how high the ratings were because they were giving out the trophy at that time.

  • Joseph

Why CBS didn’t push the Southeastern Conference to have it’s football title game in prime-time I’ll never know. It could have gotten 13-15 million veiwers!

While ESPN (which will carry the BCS Finals) has to be happy Notre Dame is in it, I think they would have preferred Georgia since Georgia’s campus is in Athens, Georgia (a suburb of Atlanta) and being in such a huge TV market would have pushed the numbers up even higher.

Still, the BCS Championship will be the most-watched cable program ever and likely wind up as the 12th most-watched TV program of the entire 2012/2013 TV season (behind only the NFL’s 11 postseason games).

Fox finally beat ABC in College Football ratings.

  • RJ

Without a doubt they will release the numbers. It just may be a few days.

  • david

My CBS affiliate did not want to air Made in Jersey in primetime in Phoenix Arizona again. They had payed programing instead and air Made in Jersey at 1 am again.

  • Derrick

    1. Athens isnt a suburb of Atlanta. Athens isnt even in Atlanta’s MSA. they are 71 miles a way from each other.

    2. Bama is a college football power, in the current and traditional sense and has a larger fan base across the nation than Georgia.

ESPN got the exact match up they wanted. The country, got the matchup they wanted.

On the entertainment side of things:

Nice to see 1.1/1.2 9-11 CBS

Don’t think “It’s A Wonderful Life” would crack 1.0, but may later in the month on other days/nets

Overall, though, 1.7/1.5 on Sat isn’t bad @ 8:00 (considering)

  • Solly Mullin

    Ouch for Wonderful Life.
NBC should cancel it and replace it with Miracle on 34th Street.

  • Mike

Lmao @Joseph acting like he knows anything about football. Who in their right mind would think Georgia would bring more viewers than Bama. He actually thinks markets play a role in college football. Lol Bama and Notre Dame are as popular(if not more) as any other schools in the country. One is in Tuscaloosa and the other is in South Bend Indiana. Long story short, i hate people like Joseph who don’t know what the hell they’re talking about.
