Definitions:
DVR (Time-shifted) Adults 18-49 Ratings – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs.
Live+Same Day(Live+SD) ratings include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing.
Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.
DVR Ratings Increase Past Airdate - How many people watched the show on their DVRs within 7 days following the airdate
Until the 2009-2010 season, we used a show's LIVE program rating or viewership as the base upon which the LIVE+7 day DVR viewing was added. Now, the press seems to be standardizing around using LIVE+SAME DAY DVR viewing as the base for the calculations, so that's what we do now as well.

Big gains for 10:00 shows.
Go On, The New Normal, Happy Endings, Apt. 23, The Mindy Project… it seems as if the hypothesis that these shows would do better with less direct competition in the Tuesday 9pm comedy hour is nonsense. New Girl does very well but nobody wants to watch these other shows and based on their no-shows, even in the relative ratings table, it isn’t a scheduling issue.
Crazy how Happy Endings could well be pseudo-cancelled when ABC finally show us their mid-season schedule yet it’s still considered a bubble show here.
3 of the top 6 DVR programs (in terms of viewers) were on Monday.
H50 +1.0 demo and 3.401M viewers
Castle +1.0 demo and 3.840M viewers
Revolution +1.8 demo amd 3.990M Viewers
Total gain 3.8 in demo and 11.231M Viewers
@ Jeff R
Exactly…. 10PM is DVR hour.
Happy to see Scandal on the list! I wish Guys With kids was on the list
As usual Grimm nice, but useless gains. However, I am surprised by Nashville’s increases. If these people would only watch live, it would be a hit.
Of the 25 most DVR’d series, 10 were dramas at 10PM. Gotta be a tough hour.
Nice bump up for HF-0!!! Yay !!! “In a Time Past” was a great episode.
Nice bump for LMS
I see I’m not alone in DVR’ing all my 10pm shows.
The Voice not present in any of the top 25 lists- a fist?
Another article blaming the DVR for the drop in ratings..
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/03/business/media/dvrs-and-weak-shows-explain-low-ratings-for-tv-networks.html
These continue to show how the so called reality shows affect viewer habits. It seems like the folks who watch reality watch them live and DVR others, probably to avoid knowing results before watching. I REALLY hope that somehow networks can figure out how to make money off these shows largely DVR’d so we don’t continue to see good shows cancelled!!!
I don’t watch Nashville but it is ALWAYS on the top of the list. People do watch it but they just DVR it. There is interest in this show and ABC has got to move this show to another time slot.
Glad to see Castle still on this list! Even after a significant decrease in ratings for DWTS Castle has been steady all season long.
TBBT is still a BEAST!!!! WOHOO!
Sad to see that The Middle is NEVER on this list. I don’t know if it’s a good thing that people are watching it live or a bad thing but I LOVE THE MIDDLE!
Also I saw some comments about the 10pm shows. It seems that businesses start work earlier so maybe these shows are DVR’d as the watcher is asleep!!??
Can we see all the Viewership increase to every show?
@Hadesa
According to a poster called Otaku on TWoP Arrow got a 1.7 with 5.184 million viewers. For the curious, Supernatural’s total viewers were 3.245 million, second largest of the season (beaten slightly by episode 2).
