TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 19 (9:00-10:00 PM)

December 4, 2012 (Burbank, CA) – The CW today announced the series premiere of the mind-bending, suspenseful new drama CULT on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 (9:00-10:00p.m. ET).

Investigative journalist Jeff Sefton has learned to laugh off his younger brother Nate’s relentless string of obsessions, especially his latest rant that a hit TV show intends to harm him.  However, when his brother mysteriously disappears, Jeff takes Nate’s paranoia seriously, and in the process uncovers the dark underworld of the TV series “Cult” and its rabid fans, who are obsessed with the show’s charismatic cult leader, Billy Grimm.  As the show’s gruesome plot twists begin to play out in the real world, Jeff enlists the help of a young research assistant Skye in a race to save Nate and unravel the mystery behind the TV series whose hardcore fans would literally kill to see what happens next…

The series stars Matt Davis (“The Vampire Diaries”) as Jeff Sefton, Jessica Lucas (“Melrose Place,” “Cloverfield”) as Skye Yarrow, Alona Tal (“Supernatural,” “The Killing”) as Kelly Collins and Robert Knepper (“Prison Break,” “Shameless”) as Billy Grimm.

CULT is from Fake Empire and Rockne S. O’Bannon Television in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios, with executive producers Rockne S. O’Bannon (“Farscape,” “V”), Josh Schwartz (“Chuck,” “Gossip Girl”), Stephanie Savage (“Hart of Dixie,” “Gossip Girl”) and Len Goldstein (“Hart of Dixie”).

CW you really should rethink this decision. Give Cult a chance after VD, it could fail then but it WILL fail Tuesdays at 9. VD and Cult seen like they would pair better.

  • CrimTV

I was excited about this and was so sure it would air on Thursday, BAD SCHEDULING!

  • POIFanatic

Atleast this isn’t as atrocious as the ABC scheduling. My must-watch shows:
    Monday: Revolution
    Tue: –
    Wed: Supernatural/AHS
    Thursday: Person of Interest
    Fri: Fringe
    Sunday: Too many.

I do follow Vegas, but I don’t have anything that makes must-watch tv on Tuesdays. So, Cult could actually make my week if its any good.

  • Ahsan

Tough slot but I hope it get’s good ratings the premise is really interesting and so was the trailer!

  • chris

here is an alternate schedule I believe would work for the CW.

    Mon 8 Carrie Diaries 9 90210
Tue 8 Supernatural 9 Beauty and the Beast
    Wed 8 Arrow 9 Cult
Thu 8 Vampire Diaries 9 Hart of Dixie
Fri 8 Nikita 9 Arrow, cult, or CD repeats until antm comes back.

I know HOD doesn’t have the premise of vampire diaries, however I remember when spn started out and gilmore girls was the leadin and it worked great. I just don’t think they should waste batb on Thursdays. Also since VD sheds viewers for every show that has aired for the past 3 seasons why not place cult behind arrow? Arrow proved to be beneficial to supernatural, which has had a built in audience for years but I believe SPN can be a leadin show and should replace HOD.

I don’t follow Supernatural but I noticed on the live dvr top 25 that supernatural had a live 1.0 and gained .6 for a 60% increase pulling up to a 1.6 that is awesome!!! VD was on the list a few weeks ago with a live 1.5 and .7 dvr totaling 2.2 these shows are doing awesome including Arrow!!! So why would the CW waste perfectly good leadin shows and not pair cult with a CW Hit? Do Not place cult behind hod.. People will tune in out of curiosity but I firmly believe a good leadin might help some too. Emily Owens was the only new show that premiered horribly w/ a HOD leadin.. Granted BATB is horrible ratings wise now, it premiered solid with vd. Arrow did great as a self starter and spn rebounded nicely this season. CW get a brain and do something logical this network could be on the right track if a few more shows are decent and can pull over a 1!

  • CrimTV

But if Cult can pull 0.8 and above then it will boost CW’s Tuesdays a lot

  • CrimTV

It’s a big risk, but if it works then it will repair CW’s Tuesdays a bit

  • pete5125

if it works then he has a strong show on 4 nights then he can rebuild Mon/tue/thu with lead in’s something he didn’t have this season, so I can see the logic, Emily Owens didn’t work and it was a well done female driven show, so you might as well try a well done male scewed show, HOD will be an alfull lead in so it will have to be a self starter, B and B is not doing great but for CW’s standards it’s in the middle of the other shows…

If cult and Carrie Diaries get any traction, then I would expect for HOD and 90210 to share a time slot, or move to Fri…Nikita will be used for Spakle or to fill in when reruns happen for other shows

Crazy idea that’s never going to happen: Move Beauty and the Beast to Tuesdays at 8 to lead into Cult and put Hart of Dixie after the Vampire Diaries to see if it can grow into a legitimate hit. When I say hit I mean .7s and .8s on a regular basis. Sacrifice two poorly reviewed new shows for a show with a better chance at syndication. Who knows BATB may preform at the same level it is now and get renewed. Cult probably won’t do well regardless.

  • Chris

This is a lot of posts for a show nobody has even seen a promo for yet. Seems like it already has a cult, of sorts. ;)

I’ve never followed any series that began on CW. Ever. I’ve been hearing about this idea of O’Bannon’s since before there was any CW. I don’t know if the cast is going to appeal to me much (particularly the guys, but I always hate the guys on CW). I don’t know why the CW hasn’t been canceled yet, either. The entire network. NEEDS to be canceled.

  • Kavyn

If they wanted to see if Cult could last on it’s own they should have put it at 8pm, not 9pm. At least it would have had syndication as its lead in and not HOD.

  • Chris

It doesn’t sound like a great 8pm show.

  • CP

I realize Matt Davis probably wanted a shot to be a lead on a show, but he should’ve stayed on Vampire Diaries.

  • Lauren

The concept isn’t really sold on me but I love the actors. I hope putting it on Tuesdays doesn’t kill it’s chances of success.

  • davie

I watched the pilot of owens MD, and since cult seems more my style and has a few good actors from good shows tvd, heroes, spn…ill be giving it a try. Should be switched with batb though

  • Aaliyah

It will be canceled after 7 episodes. CW is running out of ideas. They should bring back Ringer or The Secret Circle.

  • Red Jane

Shouldn’t this move to air on the same night as Arrow? Surely that is a better match than HoD? Or if it is REALLY good, on Thursdays with TVD with that awful Beauty (there is no beast really) sent to Fridays?

  • a p garcia

Its premise doen’t say Watch me. Poor scheduling on CW’s part, but CW will air the at least 13 episodes of it.

  • lisa

Maybe they should just move SPN back to thursdays 9pm, and not bother wasting another year on a new show or renew BATB for a season 2 and leave it thursdays.

  • charlene

If it’s does gets canceled matt Davies is a get cast. Member of the tvd
