Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

@mike, the story with CBS monday night ratings drop is more complicated than you wrote. First of they messed up the whole line up by removing tahm which was before “mike and molly” and putting “partners” at 8.30. Then there was competition from “revolution” profiting from very strong lead in ” the voice”. It apperas that the special blake show kept the audience from “revolution”. if the ratings for h50 don’t improve in the next weeks then you may be right.

  • HR

Apparently facts mean nothing to some folks , money speaks and whether you like it or not money is made on Castle. Speculation that another show could make as much money or get better ratings when DWTS was higher rated is just that speculation. The show could also drop like Smash did with the Voice.

  • Ateofi

@baaa! Seems like we are coming back to the messed up schedule by cbs. They removed their strong lead in from 9 pm ( two and a half men) and the whole night collapsed. mike and molly had demo ratings over 4.0 after tahm and then h50 had 2.9 ratings last season.

  • Cynthia

It’s clear that you dislike the show Castle. My advice, don’t watch it!

  • @Mike

OH Jeez I can see Chris is back haha what is wrong with you you sure spend a lot of time bashing a show obviously dislike just dont watch it jeez

  • Baaa!

@Ateofi-TAHM was riding the Sheen controversy wave, but at the end of the season it was back down to normal ratings levels, but I think the move has hurt CBS Mondays too. A strong NBC Monday might has hurt them worse than the move though.

  • Mike

In the next 2 weeks Castle will be in repeats and still no Revolution. So Hawaii will be the only scripted show to watch at 10 pm. It will raise but it won’t mean a thing.. Zero zero competition.
CBS cannot afford a show there that only gains when it is the only thing to watch. Unless they r able to make NBC and abc to air nothing at Monday 10 pm :)

  • Jon

I think extreme makeover needs to be pulled off the schedule soon

  • Mike

“Anything over a 2.0 is a successful show.”

Hahaha. For whatever reason I don’t see CBS thinking the same thing. But probably the CW would agree with you.

  • Ateofi

@mike, i did not know about ” castle” reruns. Of course if h50 is the only show airing new episodes than the icrease in ratings should be obvious. But I’m interested in the ratings when both “castle” and h50 air new episodes. Then we can see what is the influence of ” revolution” hiatus.

  • John A

Castle is doing ok. Not the biggest hit but not a flop either. And its been in the cable list so not a flop in syndication either. Got to love the idiot haters.

  • Ateofi

@mike, you must be aware that 10pm splot collapsed this year compared to previous seasons. This fall most night shows struggle with lower demo than h50 and some of them are new i.e vegas, nashville, 666 park avenue already cancelled, Chicago fire. Elementary has dropped to 2.2 last thursday. Only revolution and Csi have better ratings. Also h50 has slightly rebounded from disastrous premiere numbers of 1.8 in the demo. So compared to previous season, yes the ratings are much worse but they are still better than many other things at 10 pm.

  • Holly

    @John A,

Got to love the idiot haters.

The crazy-defensive fans are just as entertaining.

  • Jane

If there’s any word I hate, it’s the word “haters”. When people can’t argue, they resort to that word.

Castle is on it’s way out. Castle is my 10:00pm choice, but it’s difficult to see it lasting more than to mid-Season 6 unless they do something drastic. Saying otherwise is living in denial, IMHO. And I don’t think they’re even attempting to do anything to save it. In fact, if anything, they’re using the fan worship of the Castle-Beckett relationship as a crutch to hobble it along for a little while longer. But that’s ABC for ya.

  • Lisa

The stand alone ep of Castle always performs like garbage. Still love this season.

  • eridapo

    @ Chris,

You are, like Max, one of those posters that I look forward to reading. Your complete hatred of a show (Castle like Max for Revenge) makes your posting amusing even when they make no sense whatsoever.

Castle will be renewed for another season no matter how hard you try to spin it.

Are Castle’s results from last nights good? No. But they aren’t terrible given the historic performance of the show’s fall finales which are always lowest rated episodes of the season. Each year before the fall finale airs, ABC puts Castle on hiatus for a week and then provides it with the worst possible support on its schedule. Yet the show manages to get something above 8M viewers and though disappointing a 1.7 or better rating.

The question you fail to ask and is the one that the people in charge of scheduling at ABC most likely ask themselves is “what show in our portfolio could do better given those conditions?” The answer is, and is the answer ABC comes up with each season, none.

  • Chris

@John A–#99 out of 100 on the cable list is not what I’d call a success in syndication, dude. All the Castle eps TNT is showing have never been shown in syndication before. That’s for an 8pm slot, and none of the OTHER showings that night show up. It’s a flop in syndication. :D

  • martin

so excited for The Voice and Blake Shelton’s Xmas special. It was hilarious!! i bet it goes up in ratings

  • Jared

I’m loving the Mob Doctor. So mad it bombed!

  • camela

@Mike….why dont you go look at the ratings charts on this board (all three of them) and then make a comment based on fact not your vivid imagination.
