Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Yes, clearly one data point is all you need to prove something.

All of the other networks which don’t have The Big Bang Theory being up last week and down this week should just be ignored, because that doesn’t fit in with your nonsense.

Are you really arguing that last weeks 2BG season high wasn’t caused by the TBBT repeat pushing up the night? Pick your battles.

  • bluejays

@Sam. Well seen as the NBC Xmas special did the same sort of demo as Revolution and had higher viewers why would you think that either HFO or Castle would ‘do better’? And castle had a terrible lead in.

HFO did better than any other ten pm show on CBS last week except for CSI. Hardly a terrible place to be in! I expect it will be similar this week. Elementary does similar numbers with way way way less competition. And Vegas ratings are in the toilet! HFO doesn’t look that bad when you consider the performance of the other ten pm shows. It looks positively good when you factor in the competition.

  • s0303

@grey…shelton’s special did just as well, if not a little better, than revolution does holding the voices numbers…

  • Billy

CBS needs to bring back Rules of Engagement. I am sure it will do better than a 2.0 at 8:30.

  • Charlotte Always

Up and down the ratings go. Very happy for Blake Shelton!

  • Baaa!

All shows down,no surprise.Knew Castle would take a big hit as it was not on last week. The wonky holiday scheduling is not kind. They do this with Castle every holiday and its never pretty. Low lead-ins it handles, but not on again off again schduling. When its on week to week it does its usual performance averages.Kudos to CBS for not following that poor planning.

  • Gina

Some of the comments are making me laugh. You guys say Castle is not leadin dependent then when it hits a 1.7 you blame the leadin.

Haha, which one is it then? Whatever works that week? Lol

  • EDL

    — @Mon: Castle still dependent on DWTS after 4 years of airing after it and increased exposure from local and cable syndications? I guess it’s not going anywhere on ABC’s schedule.

    — @Grey: The same could be said about “Bones.”

Really, ‘Grey’? Because last time I checked, Bones has been on its on for its entire run, except for Idol for the last half of season 6, and the beginning of S7 with the X-Factor.

Castle hasn’t been moved around to every single day except for Fridays. They’ve had DWTS as a lead-in for its ENTIRE run.

    Also, 8 seasons > 5 seasons.

  • DeanW

Next season CBS should move TBBT to Monday at 8 and move How I Met Your Mother to Thursday. After Big Bang a new comedy would do better. Two and a Half Men will have a positive impact on HIMYM.
Hawaii Five-0 should move to Sunday at 9 and cancel The Good Wife.

  • 1mars

@Sarah. That doesn’t make sense. Joke was highest rated ep of the season. Ghost was all lab stuff, boring, plus weird camera angles which casual fans didn’t like per my timeline.

  • Gina

    *lead in* grrr phone

  • Ultima

Are you really arguing that last weeks 2BG season high wasn’t caused by the TBBT repeat pushing up the night?

Yes. It is ridiculous to argue that The Big Bang Theory is solely responsible for the ratings boost to CBS last week, when every other network was up as well.

  • coonio

    great job ABC you s***

  • Marge

Hmmm. Can’t quite seeing the Blake Shelton audience being the same as Revolution audience. Still H50 should have done MUCH better without having Revolution as competition.

  • Gina

@1mars I saw a lot of casual fans didn’t like it. I personally loved it. Very string episode but casual fans don’t like out of the box stuff! Lol oh well.

Bones is still pretty solid for Fox. Season 9 still looks promising! ;)

  • Baaa!

Sarah-I was afraid that was gonna happen to Bones because of “Joke”.

    Whats “Joke”?

  • @ramirescl

    Good numbers for H50 :)

    @ Andrea

I pretty much said the same thing as Rob, so I must be trolling too.

  • EDL

    @Gina, @1mars

I’ve seen TON of praise for the Bones episode. Tons of amazing reviews. The only complaints I’ve seen were the people that are too scared of anything out of the box. The same people that pitched a fit over a theme song chance.

I thought the episode was absolutely stunning with the cinematography.

Please stop blaming the lead-in for Castle’s soft performance this week. It’s just as likely that the show’s audience likes pop-country music and Xmas.
