Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Castle’s ratings took a hit, but in all fairness it historically has lousy numbers during the first Monday in December.

  • Rachel

Castle is well into syndication so I wonder if ABC will cancel it now. :/

  • chimpo

Great job guys, keep up the Castle hate fest. It’s so obvious and normal for 10PM shows to almost double it’s lead-in in viewers and go up 60% up in ratings this days. All the 10PM shows do it right or you wouldn’t complain so much about it?

  • a p garcia

Blake Sheldon’s Christmas Special reminds me of the Christmas Specials of yesteryear Ex. Andy Williams. I wasn’t trilled about the Bones spisode last night. Why no ROE on CBS?

  • Babygate

Lead-ins matter. Regardless of how long the show has been around. The core fan base will still watch, but others that watch casually or that know they can catch up with their show later on DVR or online will not be as committed to watching live. Besides, NBC relies heavily on lead-ins to push weak shows. Because it works.

  • John A

So the H5O are hating on Castle then? Give that crap show a 1.1 lead in and see how that does. It could only manage a 2.2 from a 3.1 lead in.

  • K

    H50 H5 heck no, lol

  • Baaa!

No Revolution and no real return for Castle or H5O. H5O didn’t drop hard, but CBS had new programming last week into this week, so I did not expect a big drop, but was it also pulling some Rev audience? Need more before calling that.I did not expect H5O or Castle to get big boosts from Rev being gone anyway, just slight ones if any. When and how long will H5O and Castle have a regular week to week episodes without a new Revolution episode? That will be most telling about any shared audience. Holiday and hiatuses are just a mess.

  • K

I wonder how Mike and Molly would do if it lead either Mon or Thursday Nights at 8? I guess it won’t ever get a chance to find out.

  • Holly

Apparently low Castle ratings=entertaining Monday thread.

  • lll

2 Broke Girls back-to-back is holding up the Monday night comedies well. Nothing will beat the powerhouse that is Big bang theory but 2 Broke Girls did well. Those shows held up the night better than Partners ever did.

There’s a reason why extreme makeover was cancelled. The ratings show why.

    Go Blake Shelton!

  • Gina

    I’m only a dodger hater! ;)

I was just making an observation. Lead in’s matter when the ratings are terrible but they don’t when they are solid. Can’t have it both ways! ;)

  • K

    @John A

Don’t care for either H50 or Castle, other to gloat when their ratings fall.

  • Rida

Cnsidering all other 10 pm shows are affected by lead-ins as well, Castle does not really look bad because it held its own despite the suckest lead-in of all. Plus other ABC 10pm shows do much worse with a great lead-in thn what Castle did without one. So no, Castle does not look that bad because its the only performer ABC had this monday. ABC cnt really complain about Castle.

  • Billy

Umm, I think 2BG put up the same numbers this week as it did most weeks when Partners aired before it and that this week their was not competition from ABC and DWTS. The only week it rose to a 4.1 was when it had the TBBT lead in.

  • Joe

GO 2 Broke Girls! Great ratings!! And good ratings for Blake’s special, I loved it! :)

  • Emma

I don’t understand why people get off on being rude and hateful to others on this thread. It’s hurtful enough when your fav show didn’t do we’ll, then when hateful strangers want to rub it in your face..WTF? I don’t wish it on anybody to have their show do bad…grow up people!

  • Alan

Great for 90210 and Gossip Girl. I was expecting higher numbers of 90210 (because tonight it was the 100th episode), but still pretty strong ratings! And 2BG too, I’m liking this plot so far, and double episode next week

  • Alan

And 2BG should be moved with TBBT, they seem to work well together!

  • Holly

I don’t wish it on anybody to have their show do bad…grow up people!

It’s just a TV show and there is next to no chance that it will be canceled this year. So…what’s to be so upset about?
