Weird things are coming to ABC...this summer. A new paranormal investigation show entitled Weird Desk has been given a full 13-episode summer  season order by ABC. The series should be something in the vein of The X-Files, and  is based on the alleged real-life mysteries from this world and beyond (spooky!). We'll update this post with an official press release as soon as we get one!

Is it offical Family Tools is a summer run and what is Mistresses is it winter/spring or saummer?

    @Jayme

Is it offical Family Tools is a summer run

ABC has announced the premiere date as May 1, so it’s a reasonable assumption that it will run into Summer.

what is Mistresses is it winter/spring or saummer?

ABC announced it was premiering in Summer at the start of the season. There was some speculation that ABC might move it up, but it hasn’t happened.

Here’s ABC’s midseason schedule. Mistresses is summer.

    Hollywood Reporter says this:

The drama follows a clandestine organization whose members work above the levels of top-secret and above the office of the president and is the destination for mysterious intelligence from the CIA and NSA. Tasked with investigating and solving occurrences of the paranormal, supernatural and sometimes extra-terrestrial, Weird Desk is led by Morgan, an obstinate, socially inept and brilliant man who would now be dead if it weren’t for his special forces trained partner, Rosetta.

Sounds like a rip-off of Warehouse 13 and maybe Hellboy. Question is, will be a dramedy like Warehouse 13 – which is what it sounds like – or a straight drama like the X-Files? If the latter and it’s done well, it might work. If it’s the former, it will be a mess if they don’t have the sort of engaging actors Warehouse 13 has – because that’s all that keeps me watching the absurd premise of Warehouse 13…

    This sounds like a winner… o_O

  • Nick

Wait, this is a drama? I thought it was one of those dumb paranormal “realities”
    Lol

    Can’t wait for this show!

ABC always have the best broadcast drama shows!

  • Holly

Am I the only one who thought this would be a reality show about bizarre office furniture?

    *crickets*

  • Matthew

@ Holly that is exactly what I thought!

  • James

Best of Luck to ABC!!! But Please Change the title!!!! Weird Desk? Are you kidding me? You may as well just name the show “odd desk.”

  • tv#1

I think I will give it a try. I like sci-fi/fantasy, but I am not a huge fan of investigation series. But it will be the summer and not many new original scripted programming will be on.

Also, I am glad to see that the networks are trying to get scripted programming going in the summer. I really get sick of all the repeats and reality shows they all air.

  • Jay

    Calling George Noorey….

  • cimmer

@Holly, even worse, a reality show about haunted, bizarre office furniture, I’m sure that show isn’t far off.

    @ Nick
That’s what I thought. Still, I’ll check it out. And like tv#1 said, it’s good to see more scripted programs during the summer. But they gotta change that title!

  • badman

    stupid title :p

  • Reader

Am I the only one that kind of likes the title? At least it’s different. :-)

  • BG

Who names these shows!?!? LOL Reminds me of the press release for “Giant Baby” with Rhea Perlman and Kirstie Alley.

  • Lulla

Let’s not forget the new season of “Rookie Blue” also !

  • Nancy Mahews

My guess is that weird reports of things come across this person’s desk so he department has nicknamed it the weird desk. I might give this a look this summer if it doesn’t conflict with other summer shows I usually watch.
