I don’t think 0.1’s will have a major effect on renewals. Look at TSC which had a higher average over HOD but look which show was saved. As the CW is a small network I would imagine they also look into production costs etc and I think HOD is quite cheap to make.

Saying that, this is The CW so who knows?

  • Dan

HoD was the 2nd highest episode this season in viewers and its always been consistent in the demo. Plus add the syndication factor and theres no doubt in my mind it will get renewed. Anyone who thinks it will get cancelled is a moron or “a bitter ringer fan” LOL

I have to admit that I’m a CW fan and it kills me to know that the ratings SUCK for every single show in comparison to other networks. If people would just give a few of the shows on the CW a chance they will def get hooked. PS not talking about 90210, HOD or GG cause those really do suck. :)

Hart of dixie will and should get renewed! Its a fun show. 90210 will get a short final season. Prob 12is episodes next season:) both great showd. And cant wait for CULT!!!! I HATE thesr supernatural and vampire shows. That crap has been done to death. Its old people. Good ratings yes. But played out and old. Next!!

  • Nikki

I believe Parenthoods 2nd season had 22 episodes.. but the other seasons had 13 and 18.. and this season has 15 episodes.

  • Nikki

@ dan Heart of Dixie is only in its 2nd season its not even close to syndication.. it should absolutly be cancelled. Will it who knows the CW makes odd decisions.

  • Chrisann D

Parenthood is one of the best shows on in primetime. Its ratings IMO shouldbe way higher.

“This is the first season that Bill Gorman didn’t make a wild guess.
Bill Gorman’s informed and educated guess for the first show to be cancelled during the 2011-2012 season was Grimm, which aired on October 28, 2011, a full month after the broadcast season already began.”

You give my wild guesses way too much credit as being informed and educated!

@ICBBsFuture Opposite. TCD has a built in audience from SATC. Whether it can maintain that audience is the question.

Ok so I see a lot of fans comparing Secret Circle to Hart of Dixie. Here was the deal breaker for both shows. TSC had VD the #1 rated cw show as a leadin, yet could only maintain 50% or less of the viewers especially in winter/spring of 2012(Yes we all know it started off ok but lost its momentum!).

HOD had gossip girl as a leadin! The worst possible leadin ever and yet it grew out of gg pathetic ratings. Was HOD ratings spectacular? Hell No. But seeing that HOD and TSC were pulling competetive numbers, I would agree with CW choice in taking the show that grew out of the worst show than the show that lost all the viewers from the network #1 show.

For this season, HOD is definitely a bubble show. It is sad to say that because it pulled 1.6 viewers but only a 0.5. its viewers beat 90210, gossip girl, emily owens, nikita, antm but those are all bubble shows too. viewers don’t count unfortunately and the 0.5 is what they are looking at.

The only advantage Hod has is that CW typically starts fresh with 3 new shows in the fall and with gossip girl ending, a vacant slot on Fridays at 9, and a couple other shows failing on the network(90210,batb) it will all come down to who has the most loyal audiences. My opinion is that BATB will get the Secret Circle treatment, as in not able to retain a healthy demo even though it pulls in low 2mil viewers. 90210 is pathetic rarely breaking a 1 million viewers, and only 0.99 for the “100th” episode! Personally I think CW should shake things up in January and revamp its schedule.

I’m enjoying Emily Owens MD while it lasts. Another heartfelt episode last night. Like her, I’m not a birthday person either. Love her! Hope she finds love before the end of the 13 episodes. :(

  • panda22

Ms. Bilson will NOT be cancelled….she is too awesome for The Cancellation Bear to feast on her, plus….way to pretty. But serious….HoD imo is safe for a third season.

I think BATB is this years Secret Circle and will be axed….lets see what numbers it pulls through March-May. Ratings on CW always slip in the second half of the season, plus there are alot more hiatus and breaks/repeats.

  • panda22

RE; 90210…i think the numbers for the 100th episode speaks volunes….dreadful!, tbf….last year and previous years 90210 was doing OK. Lets remember it was one of only 3 shows last year to get an early pickup…and with TVD and SPN.

But this year it has shown its age, its gone the way of GG and the fans/viewers are tired. I still think it will get a 10-13 episode midseason slot nxt year, just to fill the schedule and pad out its sybdication tally of episodes.

Carrie Diaries and Cult imo will bomb, and bomb HARD….both axed, along with Emily O M.D. and BATB.

So CW will have several slots to fill next season, oh…btw, Nikita haters can suck it!…the show is getting to 88 so pipe down!!

  • JJA

Yup, 90210 will get its 6th season. HOD will be the one to be canceled, should this ratings trend hold.

Frankly, HOD is terrible this year. Last year it was fun and silly, but now it’s just horrible. It’s a complete waste of an adorable cast. Rachel Bilson et al deserve a better show.

Say what you want about Nikita, but that show always managed to remain awesome despite its low ratings. Those writers/producers NEVER threw in the towel on quality.

  • Lauren

Melissa, it’s not about ratings. B&B lost the half of its audience with TVD for lead in the same way TSC didi. So yeah, it sucks.

  • CBSviewer

This is what the CW should do:

    – Renew Nikita and pair it with Hart of Dixie on Tuesday.
    – Move The Vampire Diaries to Wednesday at 8 and replace it on Thursday by Arrow.
    – Move 90210 for its final season on Friday at 9 with America’s Next Top Model as lead-in.

  • Jane

Emily Owen is a new show with no hope. HOD already has its full season so it won’t be cancelled mid-season. I do think it will not get a 3rd season.
I don’t think 90210 will get a shortened season either. I think the network can see that shows like TVD and Arrow give them more reasonable ratings so they’ll be given these relationship dramas a rest for a while.

  • Jane

Carrie Diaries will be another bomb, imo. One thing I know for show is that the CW is a very stupid network.
