    Guys… Revenge doesn’t even AIR this week. Sunday was part of last week. ;)

    Though, seriously, I’m happy for Scandal. Guess it’s time to start tuning into it. Don’t see why Revenge and Scandal can’t coexist anyhow.

    @Melissa

    When advertisers pay for time slots, they consider the ratings for this season. They could care less about what Grey’s Anatomy did in season 3 in 2012. Season 3 of Grey’s Anatomy was 6 years ago. They want to know what ratings Grey’s can deliver this season. Some people don’t understand that advertisers compare Grey’s Anatomy season 9 versus Person of Interest season 2.

    I guess I was wrong about Scandal! Considering this show usually is in the low 2’s or high 1’s a demo like 2.5 is big news for Scandal.

    Not surprised at the downward adjustments for the cbs lineup.

    Happy VD adjusted up even if it is a season low. Beauty and the Beast is underperforming at a fast pace, The secret circle downfall began in February during its inaugural season. I thought for sure BATB would maintain viewers or grow slightly back higher than its usual 0.6. CW should reconsider its winter/spring lineup for new shows cult and the carrie diaries.

    @Bookworm

    Yeah, like many have pointed out, Nielsen counts ratings results from Monday to Sunday. Just because you skip Saturday doesn’t mean Nielsen does.

    As for your (mis)understanding of when a week starts, you’re entitled to your ignorance. Maybe you also think that December is the first month of the year and November the last? In that case, happy belated New Year. Congratulations, you got a head start on the rest of us…

  • POIFanatic

    Why are many people jumping on Max’s stupid bandwagon? I like Scandal and don’t watch Revenge, but Scandal has only beat Revenge once in season 1. This week there’s no Revenge folks. So, Scandal still hasn’t officially beaten it this season. The massive promotions obviously helped, but calling Scandal a ‘hit’ before it performs at this level is highly misplaced. Revenge has proved itself to be solid performer against ratings giant – The Walking Dead and sports and other cable offerings, while Scandal still hasn’t. So, calm down and enjoy your shows.

    POI is as solid as ever. It was a great episode. After last week’s disaster of a episode in TVD, I liked this week’s. Hope the ratings increase next time. Elementary has no potential. SB spot is wasted on it.

    Revenge has been getting much better numbers than Scandal all season and pretty much all of last season too. Its been in the top 25, 7 out of its 9 weeks against quality shows like Dexter, The Good Wife, The Walking Dead, Boardwalk Empire as well as NFL and Baseball, Family Guy, Real Housewives, etc.

    There is no comparison, On Imdb, metacritic and virtually everywhere else Revenge is the much higher critically rated show. Itunes, its at number one or two nearly every week, Internationally its much bigger than in the States, In Australia it was getting better ratings than anything since the beginning of Desperate Housewives or Lost. Its now in some 70 + countries.

    DVR it gets huge ratings, so really this Scandal VS Revenge comparison is useless.

    Dont get me wrong I have nothing against Scandal but the only reason it is still on TV is because of Shonda Rhimes and Grey’s. Hopefully Scandal starts getting these type of numbers but I would not count on it.
    The Max guy is a troll, he is a delusional lil pip-squeak that spends all his time on some internet board posting about some show he does not even like. The people jumping on his bandwagon should really be ashamed for encouraging a deranged little kid.

  • nikkiwhat

    I guess the Scandal haters took some time off

  • Nicole

    lol beauty should of never recieved the back 9 order.. it sucks so bad. It will be pulled at the end of the season. So only 1 new show will be around for next season and thats Arrow, all the other new ones will be cancelled along will half of the old ones. The CW should just have 2 nights of programing cause they get killed on everynight except 2, have 4 total shows at least they know they will do well.

  • Bookworm

    @SJ
    That’s how I view it . All of this is subject to opinion about what how we measure one week to the next. Does Nielsen even collect ratings on Saturday? I’ve never seen Friday’s final ratings posted on Saturday. It is was it at the end of the day but when it come to comparison, of shows on different days, I think it is complete fair and logical to post the last known rating for each show and go on from there.

    I clearly do know the first month is January and the last is December. However, a week is subjective as I talk in the Week of (whatever Sunday that is). My calendar shows Sunday as the first day of the week and Saturday as the last. All of our calendars do if I’m correct.

    Monday is the first day of the work week.

    Sarcasm does not look good on you.

    @Match
    No, I’m not stupid. That’s how you see it but I look at differently. You are free to disagree but I don’t’ think I’m far off base by considering the week to start on Sunday.

    Poor BATB?a further step to the bubble…or likely cancellation?
    PEDITION,QUICK!

  • danny94

    SCANDAL is rubbish the only reason its numbers jumped so much is because of lots and lots of promotion and a big event episode. Revenge can pull theses numbers for a average episode any day

  • Meej

    “Can’t help but laugh at everyone who thought Scandal would be adjusted down.”

    Can’t help but laugh at people who watch Scandal

  • Melissa

    @TW

    However, who gets the most money does not determine quality. This is NOT to say that POI is better than Grey’s (not at all) but let’s have perspective. Jersey Shore scores huge in the cable demo but it isn’t quality. It may be very entertaining to a certain demo but no one could say it is quality with a straight face.

    I don’t know if you read my comment, but Grey’s Anatomy has won numerous Primetime Emmy Awards and Golden Globes, so clearly it is the better show quality-wise. Person of Interest has won nothing but a People’s Choice Award.

    @tv_viewer

    Your ignorance amazes me. It seems that Person of Interest fans target a certain part of the comment, and act as if the rest does not exist. If you bothered to read my comment, you would see that I was responding to Petar Ivanov who said “ps Even now POI is only one show that is UP from its Fall ratings last season. Grey’s is down. Not eve close to what LOST was. LOST never go down 4.0 demo.“.

    I responded by saying that the analogy was irrelevant, because Lost only ran for six seasons, whereas Grey’s Anatomy is in its ninth season. Petar is comparing Lost‘s 2009–10 sixth season to Grey’s Anatomy‘s ninth, which isn’t relevant. When Grey’s Anatomy was in its sixth season, it was pulling 5’s and 6’s, which are better than Lost‘s 3’s and 4’s in its sixth season. I also mentioned that Lost never approached the success of Grey’s Anatomy; the latter show was pulling 9’s and 10’s in its prime. I never implied that those numbers are determining its advertising prices, so please read the whole comment before writing an ignorant response.

    And to respond to your last sentence, old Grey’s Anatomy is still the higher-rated show this season; it cracked a 4.4 and a 3.8 in its ninth season, numbers that fresh Person of Interest has never approached. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Grey’s Anatomy‘s lows are Person of Interest‘s highs – a 3.0 for Grey’s Anatomy is low, whereas a 3.0 for Person of Interest would be above its usual average.

    Person of Interest fans boast about the show’s occasional 3.0’s in its second season, yet Grey’s Anatomy is slammed for pulling low 3’s in its ninth season. You can bet yourself that Person of Interest, in the unlikely event that it sees a season nine, will not be pulling low 3’s.

  • MAX LEAVE REVENGE ALONE!!!!!

    @POIFanatic
    because he is just getting ridicolous hes been doing it for a long he makes people not want to watch and thats the only reason why i care what ratings scandals to give him a taste of his own medicine. if he would just leave revenge alone there wouldnt be any scandal. im sorry scandal fans for this lunitic giving u guys a bad name, i dont have anything against scandal i’m glad that your show did well but i just want this lunitic to stop trashing my favorie show thats all i ask

    It’s like that with all her shows. Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice typically get huge boosts from episodes written by her, because the audience knows she writes the series’ best episodes.

    The amount of venom and ignorance in this post is astonishing.

    1.) By industry standards, the tv week is Monday thru Sunday – no matter what you think or your religious belief or how you view things. TV bases their ratings week from Monday to Sunday.

    2.) Yes, your show is the most amazing, stupendous, terrific, best show to ever be on tv. And yes, no other show can compare to it and the rest of us are all misguided deluded fools to not see what you see. Our mistake. Can we be friends now?

    3.)1/10th of a per cent is not basting or wiping the floor with or supply your own phrase of another show. Both shows ( in this case GA and POI ) are doing a super job for their networks. One may, I suppose, feel the need to gloat over that 1/10 but what really matters is the ad dollars. I have the feeling that the sponsors of both shows felt they got their moneys worth out of those numbers.

    4.) This notion that the 18 – 49 IS THE ONLY DEMO is wrong. It is THE PRIME DEMO. Advertisers still target prime time shows that reach certain viewers ( Men, women, teens, 18 – 24 year olds, 25 – 34 year olds, 35 – 49 and God forbid even, 25 – 54 year olds ). CBS targets the 25 – 54 market more aggressively and wins in that demo. And for the record, I think CBS does profit with that strategy. Not saying other networks should or what they are doing isn’t working,but, I think we need to be realistic on the business end of broadcast tv.

    5.) I have forgotten but what Emmy Awards as GA won? I know a few years ago they were an Academy darling but other than a writing or directing Emmy and some technical ones, what else did they win? I know they did win a Peabody Award for program excellence a few years back.

    @mattfitz

    Greys fans go away and take that crappy soap opera with you! Just because a bunch of moronic idiots flock to something does not make it quality! You root for your stupid extended chickflick show as if it were some earth changing event yet its nothing but a night time soap thats well past being anything but stale

    Mellisa you are so WRONG THE VOICE has pulled higher numbers and the big bang theory beats em both so get over yourself also it has not WON alot of prime time emmies or globes HBO has mostly ruled that for many years! its been a nominated LOSER quit hyping awith your bs its got some fans so what! its stale and is very much female oriented Speaking of which THE NFL numbers destroy that stupid show!!!

    Please calm down. So the Primetime Emmy voters and Golden Globe voters are a bunch of moronic idiots? Okay, you keep telling yourself that. Grey’s Anatomy is one of the biggest drama phenomenons of the decade. What do The Voice and The Big Bang Theory have to do with anything? Yes, those two shows are currently higher rated, but my comment was clearly referring to Grey’s Anatomy in its prime, during which the show was much more successful than the two shows you mentioned. The Voice‘s and The Big Bang Theory‘s highs were a series of numbers around 6.0, which is much lower than Grey’s Anatomy highs of consistent 9’s and 10’s. Also, you’re wrong – Grey’s Anatomy has won four Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. Finally, Grey’s Anatomy (in its prime) used to outrate NFL games. You’re obviously annoyed with the show’s success, so you went off on an irrelevant rant.
