Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

OMG OMG Scandel hits the highest viewership I think ever. I mean it will go down a bit in the finals but DAMN WOWSA. Scandel officially ABC’s little hot show. I hope ABC really nurtures this show because its fabulous. The show is starting to come together and if ABC is patient it could be a great show. Honestly has Scandel just secured a third season renewel. I think it has plus ABC loves Shonda. Shonda Rhimes has made ABC a fortune with Grey’s and PP was on six years and now Scandel. They invest in anything Shonda I mean she had a flop.

POI rockssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss and hit 3+ with football. Man expect a lot series highs in january.

ps Please CBS air POI in all 5 thursdays in january 2013. All 5 episodes will be 3+ and (at least) one will be with series highs (3.4+)

#2 drama dor the season for CBS. MWith a shot for #1….if not this season next 100% sure bet.

  • Albert

Poor Xfactor. The producers probably want some of their 15 million back from Robot Britney.

  • SarahL

Wow, I am impressed by Scandal, that is an amazing increase. It’s renewal odds just moved to likely certain.

  • Bee

hopefully grey’s adjusts up and increases for the winter finale next week. i’m just glad the show didn’t crash this week since the promo was all about the new interns.

and YAY SCANDAL SERIES HIGH! last night’s episode was AMAZING! completely lived up to the hype so i hope people tune in again next week. even if it adjusts down, it’ll still be a series high.

  • omabin

Oh damn it, I didn’t see the red text about ABC preemption. Still, it should be a 2.3 or something, I doubt it goes lower than 0,2 tents. Still awesome for a 10 pm show. And greys was down, so there is also that.

  • j

“Did anyone else notice all that promotion “Scandal” had this week? Lol… No wonder it went up.”

I know. Max hates Revenge for its promo, but the crazy amount of promo for Scandal this week has been more than what there’s been for Revenge this season.

  • Tony ^_^

Funny how FOX’s Tuesday Comedy Block got the same average as NBC’s “Must See Thursday” Comedy Block (1.5 vs 1.5).

  • ClamCam

Sorry troll Max….but I hope you stick to the final numbers where Scandal will be adjusted to 2.2 , it’s called Preemption and maybe you have heard of it, and once again the Number 4 show on ABC (Revenge that is)will beat Scandal..

  • getmilk

Yikes. BATB matching 90210 rating… poor Kristin Kreuk. This show going to be cancelled unless it picks up next year.

  • Stormy44

This is one of those weeks when Scandal won’t be adjusted down. In fact, I would not be surprise if just the opposite happens and it was adjusted up. And based on the 1/2 hr demos, I actually think that the overnights should be a 2.6 and not a 2.5. Viewers pretty much stuck with the show for the entire episode last night.

  • rob60990

Oakland is the West Coast so isn’t Last Resort the only show on ABC possibly inflated?

ABC hyped Scandal all week. 3 promos during Grey’s Anatomy. It will be back to its 1.9s by January.

  • anonymous

Woow I was kind of sad with Arrow ratings! But when I saw TVD ratings, down three ten :|, I was like okay it’s just a bad week for the CW

  • Ike

The Office and Parks & Rec skew very young based on the ratio of 18-49s to total viewers. The ratio indicates that those two are notably younger than 30 Rock and Up All Night. The 18-34 numbers for Office and P&R are probably reasonably competitive.

Everybody here always bashes these comedies’ ratings but NBC could do (and surely WILL do) much, much worse in adults 18-34. Remember, 18-34 is very, very lucrative. New Girl gets ridiculously high ad rates based largely on high 18-34 ratings.

I wonder if ABC will burn off some episodes of Last Resort on the 20th & 27th when most shows are in reruns or pre-empted by holiday specials. I was surprised to note that they’re not doing that with 666 Park Ave. even though it’s been cancelled: I heard a promo referencing 666′s fall finale or winter finale the other night. What???? If you’ve been cancelled and you’re just a burn-off of the remainder of the 13 episodes, how can you have a fall finale?

  • Michael

I must say I watched SCANDAL last night for the first time because they ran such awesome promos for it…which i am sure counts for some of its rise. That being said, it was also a great episode.

  • CenterGravity

I hope Person of Interest stays above Grey’s in the Finals.

  • aciel

even though i dont watch scandal i expected the ratings to go up because first of all abc promoted the hell out of it and second the promo itself seemed interesting about who shot the president? so im not surprised to see this many viewers to tune in to who it was?

and btw max get a life and i dont why you hate revenge so much geez now what ur just going to go after it till it gets cancelled. geez if u simply can’t stand all of the promotion that revenge has been getting then just rid of ur tv and computer and do something for ur community. rather than just going on here every monday and friday saying “scandal is better than revenge” how old are u btw?

  • omabin

    Half-hours anyone?

  • forg

Is Oakland big enough to warrant huge downward adjustments? I hope Scandal will still score a series high!

As always, WOW for TBBT! The Office back at 2 but the rest is dead, too bad for Parks :( 30 Rock and Up All Night single cam version will end quietly.

  • JONNYSBRO

I have an idea for FOX. How about FOX turns the X Factor into a summer show ala Talent? I mean they need it in fall. Honestly if I were FOX I would trim the budget, have it go like gangbusters and I think it might get better ratings. Maybe move So You think You Can Dance to fall and have X Factor in summer. It wouldn’t have the interuptions of baseball.

On the X Factor front I am okay with anyone winning except Emblem3. I can’t stand them think they are terrible and its what Simon wants. I am sorry I want to see Tate win just so Simon eats crow. Hates country music, stated the overs would never win at all, and I think Tate would sell records. I actually like Carly, Tate and Fifth Harmony would be okay with any of them. Think they are likeable and very talented.
