So The Walking Dead, Game Change, and American Horror Story make the list, but not Boardwalk Empire? Everything else looks pretty good, but no way BE should’ve been left out in lieu of the three I mentioned.
even though i took a break half way through and came back , the walking dead is one of the best shows out there. i’m glad they left justified out. god awful show. could of done without GOT or AHS but a good list all around.
DW – i’m glad they left justified out. god awful show.

Pfffffft! Hope you get fleas where you can’t reach to scratch them.
Girls? really? That is the WORST show on TV. so gross.
hope?. oh i can scratch just fine.
No Skyfall!! Disappointing.
Girls really?? worst show ,agree with Chad
I know tv critics wet themselves whenever they write about Girls and Louie, but the rest of us go “meh”. Community and Parks and Rec deserve inclusion.
and no Skyfall but Lincoln?
@Fed & karin,
AFI only ‘honors’ American productions.
From the AFI website:
**American
Motion picture with significant creative and/or production elements from the United States. The motion picture need not be presented in the English language if it is incontrovertibly American. **
(I guess they found Les Miserables ‘American’ enough)
No Avengers? Most of the movies haven’t even been in wide release yet. Oh well.
@Christian
seriously again Girls??
I guess they thought it was good. Not a fan of the show.
Never saw Girls (have no idea what it is actually). Think The Good Wife should have been included on that list (surprise) as well as Justified (go Hillbilly).
Of the movies, the only one not in serious contention for a best picture Oscar nod is Dark Knight Rises.
Overall, think the movie list is the better of the two.
The inclusion of Les Mis is bizarre as the production companies, director, screenwriter and filming locations are all British and its based on an Anglo-French theatrical production. If anything Skyfall is more American (one of its three production companies (MGM) is American).
Still, Les Mis is more American, for having a couple of US actresses, than Game Change is factual!
Wow no love for broadcast drama eh? The good wife, Once upon a Time, Last Resort, Revenge, Blue Bloods, SVU, Nikita, Revolution, would have been nice if a couple of these were included…AHS sucks, so does Girls…ive never watched Loius but ive been told it sucks…i personally would have replaced these 3 with Boardwalk Empire, The good Wife, and Once upon a time…just me though…and for the movies…Glad Dark Knight Rises, and wsnt left off for being a superhero movie…would have been nice for Avengers to make it though…if marvel is your thing, that was flipping EPIC…but, seriously, what about the HUNGER GAMES…probably the most widely loved movie of the year…2012s harry potter…and it also may have launched jen lawrence to a future superstar career…og well, at least she got a for Playbook
My top 10 list:
10. The New Normal
9. The Newsroom
8. Person of Interest
7. Body of Proof
6. Revenge
5. Castle
4. The Middle
3. Last Resort
2. Modern Family
1. Once Upon a Time
Yes, I’m surprised Avengers was on the list, as in my view it was superior to the Batman movie – maybe not by much, but it was exceptional. Still, I suppose we should be pleased ANY genre movie gets on the list.
Oops… “was on” s/b “wasn’t on”…
