Often my partner in crime writes about something before I get around to it, and that's what happened with The Cleveland Show. It's the only one of Fox's animated shows without an order for episodes beyond this season, and with the extra lead time needed for animated production it may have already passed the date needed to get episodes for next season into production. At the end of this season it will already have 88 episodes, so the syndication gods are not compelled to step in to save it. For that reason it's now a "toss up" for renewal or cancellation.

Raising Hope is predicted as "certain to be renewed" even with its somewhat weak early ratings. While the syndication gods ruling Fox aren't quite as predictable as those ruling CBS, it would take nothing short of a cataclysm to prevent the show from getting a fourth season. Read more about it here.

Better to Follow The Bear, Than Be Chased By Him. This season you can follow the Cancellation Bear on Twitter via @TheCancelBear. The Cancellation Bear will retweet all the Renew/Cancel Index post titles and links as well as engage in a little more back and forth banter than we do on our standard @TVbytheNumbers Twitter feed.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2013
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2013
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2013

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

The Cleveland Show will get another season ! :)

I actually agree w/ TCS being a toss up

  • Rebecca

Rooting for RH, BAK, TMP, NG and BB….that’s all I watch on Fox.

  • Jeff (Canada)

Cancel Mindy, Ben/Kate and Mob. Renew the rest. Let next season be Cleveland Show’s last, and then move the characters over to Family Guy. Have Stoolbend be destroyed or something and then Quagog helps them get back on their feet.

Does Cartoon Network count as syndication, or do they have some kind of other deal? I know they air new episodes of Family Guy & American Dad like 10 days after they air on Fox, so I suspect the latter… but I was curious because The Cleveland Show already airs there, but I don’t know if that counts as syndication or if it would have to be sold to TBS or something.

  • james

Wasnt Glee the #1 scripted show this week?

  • Just Desserts

Fox is boring to predict. Mindy and Cleveland might just get another season.

COME ON FOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just make it official for GLEE already!!!! #WeWantGleeSeason5 #8SeasonsAndAWorldTour ;)

  • K

They should renew Cleveland Show. It is tons better than unfunny (and renewed) Bob’s Burgers. I don’t think many viewers like seeing black, white gay (and even the bear) people get along without hating each other.

  • Ricky

Five smileys for RH – woohoo! And Bones – hope this one breaks the eight-season curse that 24 and House were starting up on…

The Elimination Game: now with All-Stars!

  • rob60990

If any animation comedy should be cancelled, it should be Bob’s Burgers. I don’t know why FOX renewed this. It is bleeding a lot of viewers from The Simpsons and it isn’t even close to having enough episodes for syndication. The Cleveland Show is in the horrible 7:30 timeslot. It was doing much better after The Simpsons than what Bob’s Burgers is currently doing.

  • tommie

Bob’s Burgers isn’t going anywhere soon – it’s already been renewed through 2013-14 season and considering it would only be a season and a half away from syndication by then, I don’t see them dumping it unless it starts failing Allen Gregory-style.

Unless Murder Police disappoints creatively, The Cleveland Show is done for. If I were to predict Fox’s schedule it’ll most likely look like this:

7:30 Leftover Cleveland Show episodes/Reruns / American Dad
    8:00 The Simpsons
    8:30 Bob’s Burgers
    9:00 Family Guy
9:30 American Dad / Murder Police

  • Jim

Forget about Cleveland Show being on the bubble. The Simpsons needs a series finale soon, period. I think FOX needs to stop renewing that show, yet allow it an opportunity for it to go out while it’s still on top.

  • mike

american dad and bob burger should be ahead of the cleveland show to be cancelled

  • CenterGravity

Cancel Mindy, Ben/Kate and Mob. Renew the rest.

  • tjw

The Simpsons is Fox’s highest rated non-Idol show and is a Top 10 show on all network TV. It’s not going anywhere any time soon.

  • Nick

What Fox should do for 2013-2014:

    8: Bones (full final season)
9: Gun Machine (new)/ Untitled Wyman/Abrams project (new)
    8: Raising Hope
8:30: The Goodwin Games/ Live From Our Living Room (new)
    9: New Girl
    9:30: Wendy & Peter (new)

    8:  X Factor/ Idol

    8: The X Factor/ Idol
    9: Kitchen Nightmares/ The Following

8: Glee (22 episode final season)
    9: Touch

    8: Fox Sports Saturday

    7: The OT/ Cops
    7:30: The OT/ Bob’s Burgers
    8: The Simpsons
    8:30: Bob’s Burgers/ Murder Police (new)
    9: Family Guy
    9:30: American Dad

  • r0ckmypants

@Nick – Calm yourself. The Following and The Goodwin Games haven’t aired any episodes, Touch hasn’t aired this season, and Fox hasn’t even ordered most of those pilots let alone shot them.

I really wish there was an “Edit” button. Anyway…

If Bones gets renewed, I wish they’d move it back to Thursdays, but I know it won’t happen. So I’ll be happy with any other day as long as it’s not Friday.
