Will the 'Scandal' Ratings Surge Hold? - Poll

The writers and producers of Scandal and ABC's marketing department deserve some recognition. Last week's episode, which revealed #whoshotFitz (seriously, excellent work with that ubiquitous hashtag , ABC) hit a series high 2.5 adults 18-49 rating, up from a 2.2 for its heavily hyped previous episode. Prior to the launch of this storyline, the show typically hit a 2.0 or 1.9 adults 18-49 rating. The question is whether the ratings will hold now that the storyline is switching from #whoshotFitz to #whyshotFitz. (Update: some of you took that description of the plot's change in direction really literally. The actual official hashtag for this week's episode is #whatthehuck.) Make your predictions about the ratings for tonight's episode (#whatratingFitz) below and check back here tomorrow to find out if you're right.

This weeks hashtag is whatthehuck. It’s in all promos. I would guess ratings would be even higher, but typical ABC luck, they are preempted in Philly for NFL

  • THE OLD MAN

    I say back down to a 2.2

  • Cyrax86

It’ll dip a bit, to 2.3, in my opinion.

  • taylor

    2.3, still solid

  • RAYRAY

    actually it’s #What The Huck

  • Dan S

Where’s Max ? Even though I don’t watch Scandal I actually think it’ll hold onto its 2.5 & beat the overhyped Elementary. If anything else it will win the 10pm time period.

  • Stormy44

Even though it will be preempted by football in Philly which is the #4 media market, I’m still going to stick with my fearless prediction from last week and go with another increase. My original prediction was for a 2.7 but with the Philly preemption it will probably be more like a 2.6.

There have been promoting the hell out of it, but it wont hold. The shooting of the president was the big shocking twist, and now it goes into the typical who done it tv melodrama.

  • SarahL

I think that Scandal holds onto some, but not all of its gains. Nashville’s writers could take a lesson from Shonda Rhimes and make something exciting happen on that show.

  • Tony ^_^

Back down to its normal ratings. 2.2-2.3.

  • Californiadgd

i hope >2.5, but it will be 2.2…

  • BG

I think it will fall to a 2.0

I figured @max would be the first to respond :)

  • THE OLD MAN

    @ Dan S

    Where’s rob60990?

  • Harma

2.0-2.2, eventually it’ll get back down to 2.0

  • Dan

2.2 probably, whatever it gets ABC will still renew it for a third season. Its basically the new Private Practice and ABC will take any OK performing drama they can get.

  • hoki

    1.9

  • CenterGravity

I’ll go with a 2.2 in the initial ratings, adjusted down to a 2.1 after the Grey’s overrun.

  • omabin

A 2.4 or maybe 2.3, but i will go with 2.4, which is still very solid. The half hours from last week were very promising, suggested that people who were watching wanted to keep on watching, so i will be surprised with a big drop! LOVE SCANDAL!

  • Jamie

Is this the most boring show on in its time slot? YES!

  • Jared

I love Scandal but after seeing last nights ratings I’m gonna say the new episode will go back down around a 2.0-2.1 demo. The fact that Thursday night football will be airing in Philly really sucks. I guess I’ll just have to catch up with it tomorrow on demand.
