We don’t have a gun problem. Our society is collapsing before our eyes.
For some young people they have a need to be recognized. Reality TV, people with no talent get recognition, money and fame. It used to where the disaffected killed themselves. Now they kill their parents and everyone at the local McDonalds.
We have had guns around for generations and we never had these problems. The corrupt media will make this a gun problem. We have a people problem.
My life as been far from perfect or satisfying. My belief in Jesus Christ is my moral barrier. People who believe in nothing but self and this world lack a moral barrier when their life turns out badly.
Most secular people have their own moral barriers but the fringe does not. Look at the shooters most have no god in their life. If they did they could not commit these crimes. It goes against everything a believer believes.
Pass a national sales tax that comes into effect whenever Congress declares war, authorizes the use of military force, or when American troops or contractors are deployed in combat for more than 90 days. (The contractor part is to prevent the government from using a mercenary army.) The legislation will also state that tax funds cannot be used for any other purpose, and that the war cannot be funded solely with emergency appropriations after 1 year. After a year, you’ve had time to budget. After 1 year, emergency appropriations can be no more than 20% of funding, which should allow for the vagaries of war.
9) Cut Medicare/Medicaid benefits, raise taxes, or a combination thereof. I don’t have specific numbers, but I’m sure somebody does.
) Tax capital gains, dividends, and interest as regular income. Those dollars are indistinguishable from paycheck dollars in a bank account.
Combat tax fraud by hiring more IRS employees to audit claims and investigate suspicious ones. You can bet your bippy the Republicans would scream about big government and big brother over the prospect of adding employees to the government payroll whose sole job is to investigate your healthcare claim. Never mind that combating fraud would likely save more money than was spent on pay and benefits for the employees. The IRS estimates that every $1 they spend on enforcement brings in $3-$4 of unpaid taxes, yet their requests for additional personnel have fallen on deaf ears.
1) Eliminate the current personal income tax code. Replace it with lower tax brackets and allow no deductions except for contributions to a tax deferred retirement account, charity, and the current primary residence capital gains rules ($250,000/$125,000 joint/single tax free) and investment property rules (must reinvest within 2 years, I think).
2) Raise SS tax cap to $180K. Adjust the cap afterwards using the current formula for the SS wage base. According to the GAO, this makes SS solvent for the next 75 years.
3) Cut all department/agency budgets by 20%. More targeted cuts would be preferred, but won’t happen in this Congress.
4) Eliminate agricultural subsidies. You shouldn’t be paid to NOT grow food, and guaranteeing something against loss is called insurance. I believe there’s a whole industry revolving around that concept.
5) Pass a 5% national sales tax to retire foreign-held U.S. sovereign debt. Americans holding American debt is not the problem. Legislative language will make the tax continue in perpetuity, it will become inactive when foreign-held debt drops to zero and become active when such debt hits 5% of GDP (allows for deficit spending during emergencies). The law will also preclude Congress from using the funds for anything else, replacing the funds with Treasury notes (a la SS revenue), or voting to avoid the tax unless they vote on record (no voice votes) to repeal the tax in its entirety.
6) Remove all troops from Afghanistan. We got OBL.
7) Remove our troops from Europe, Japan, and South Korea. WWII and the Cold War are over. We don’t need to occupy or protect them anymore. IF they want us there, they can foot the bill. Exception: air bases with logistics aircraft and personnel and pre-positioned equipment depots.

We are the modern Romans and we collapsing under our own moral decline.
Our people are becoming weak and stupid. To many believe in Government as their god and savior.
Sicilian Papa
During the decline of Rome, the Roman people became Christians and found morals. The Christian Roman people did not want to fight wars anymore. They did not have a moral decline for their morals were much worse during their prime entire days.
The leaders of Rome were the ones that were lacking morals. The leaders of Rome were killing each other for greed or money.
Like all rich countries or societies, they also with having children. They had a population decrease of Romans. There were very few young people to fight wars at this time. They had to hire out or subcontract their military. They actually had no choice. Furthermore, not very many Romans
Media Dismisses Fact that Show of Force Stopped CT School Shooter
This morning on “Morning Joe,” Pete Williams reported that the Connecticut elementary school shooter ended his rampage and killed himself upon the arrival of the police:
Only when he saw and heard the police running down the hall toward him did this end, when the police say he used one of the handguns to shoot himself; ending this killing spree.
According to this media reports, then, what apparently stopped this awful massacre was a show of force — was the shooter knowing the police were coming.
So where’s the media discussion on what might have actually stopped this shooting before over two dozen were murdered, and that was brave individuals trained in the use of firearms on their way to confront the killer.
@KJL, Different types of warfare, call for different types of weapons. The drones are good for what we are doing now. But they are not the answer to everything. Every military action will be different and that’s why research and development is so important to any military.
I think your estimate of a decade is wrong. When a government is determined to do something progress moves quickly. Let’s just look at the U.S. and the space race. And we were creating new things. Great fighters have already been developed, China only needs to tap into that knowledge and they are. Chinese students are being taught how to built fighters by OUR (U.S.) best minds. More Chinese students 2 to 1, are enrolled in Aerospace college programs then U.S. students. Universities are promoting foreign internships to countries like China to American students. We should never take lightly any countries military growth. And we can’t sit back and wait for other countries to catch up.
Challenge to Gun Control Narrative Results In Soledad O’Brien Meltdown
CNN’s Soledad O’Brien invited author and frequent Breitbart News contributor, John Lott, to come on her show this morning. It’s pretty obvious that his recent appearances on other CNN shows, where he advocated for fewer gun control laws, had made her angry and that she saw this as an opportunity to take a whack at him.
O’Brien not only loses her composure, talks over Lott, and ignores absolutely every point he makes — she also lives under the delusion that the banning of guns will somehow make us safer — as though the gun control laws she so desperately desires won’t ensure that only the law-abiding are the ones without firearms and therefore unable to defend themselves.
Moreover, you have to wonder if O’Brien truly understands the difference between an automatic and semi-automatic, or if she’s intentionally muddying the issue.
The real issue is how Soledad keeps saying the same thing over and over – and the reason is that she has no ideas of her own in her empty skull. Her point was predetermined and when it didn’t figure the discussion she was stumped for a new point. How in the world she ends up with a job like this is beyond reason – her IQ is barely three digits..
@Mark2,
Sorry, I forgot facts are your enemy. Why should we care why murder is high in same state? Because all you care about is that there is more murder in red states.
It doesn’t matter that it’s because of drug smuggling into the U.S. and it doesn’t matter that these RED STATE get a forth of the U.S. government support and money to prevent drug smuggling than the blue states along coastal areas.

As usual, there’s a huge amount of presumption on your part here. If faith alone were a barrier against evil, the horn of Africa wouldn’t be such a nightmare; atrocities like what happened in Newton are practically common place in some parts of the world, and committed in the name of one faith or another. Joseph Kony was an altar boy, for goodness’ sakes!

Matthew, the problem with all the violence in the Horn of Africa is Moslems. These Moslems are killing each other and Christians. They are committing genocide in trying to exterminate all Christians. It has been working for years. It was not that long ago that Lebanon was a Christian nation. The Christians have either been exterminated or left the country.
You cannot compare Moslem violence to any other.
The religion of Islam is a religion of peace, right
Don’t they hide safely behind armed security there at CNN? Show us by example, Soledad…call for removal of your own armed guards first. Make CNN a “gun-free zone.”
@cathy—Sorry, I forgot facts are your enemy. Why should we care why murder is high in same state? Because all you care about is that there is more murder in red states.
Agree Cathy–one thing that the left forgets in this “red state has more crime” is that red states are not all red–if you look at the areas of high crime in red states it is generally in areas that obama carried handily–

No, it is not just “Moslems killing each other and Christians,” some places (Uganda) are rife with Christians killing Christians, Christians killing Muslims, Muslims killing non-believers…so on and so on. It is absolutely not any single faith, don’t be dense. Do names like Obote and Kony mean nothing to you? The Christian/Muslim wars of the Sudan?

@Doug Z, Social Security and medicare are not fully funded. Nice Lib and Dem lie you believe. These programs will only work if we three times the people paying into them, then collecting from them.
Yes, where would libs and dems be without blaming the rich!!!!
Most federal spending has some corruption. Let’s focus on getting rid of that.
It amazes me that providing for the military is the only spending program that the FOUNDING FATHERS placed in the Constitution but it is always the first attacked.
What about all the jobs that will be lost by decreasing military spending?
These people are going to go on another government program. More people are food stamps, unemployment and later welfare. Just what we need.
Letmethink
St. Louis is so democratic. They do not run a Republican mayor against the Democrats. The Democrats are so entrenched. It would not do any good. The city of St. Louis has led the country in murders for many years. I believe that they had rated only second in the last couple. This good Democrat, liberal city is a very dangerous place to walk. The Democrats have ran the city of St. Louis into the ground. They had not had a Republican mayor since 1930. If it wasn’t for federal and state funds the city would collapse.
ratboy, good morning or afternoon.
Matthew
Of course liberals, Democrats all support Islam the religion of peace. If you look at all regions of the world that are suffering great atrocities and war. It all has to do with Islam. You cannot show me a place Islam is not involved. What really makes me mad about Democrats and liberals, mainstream media, the alphabet news network it will not report it.
It seems even the Clinton Administration supports Islam in Bosniain the Serbs wanting their own country. and I wonder if we should have even gone there. Of course, you know my feelings about the size of the military in getting involved in other people’s affairs. That cost this country money.
