No, it does not ‘all’ have to do with Islam. Do you think in the absence of Islam that the horn of Africa would be a bastion of peace? This is not a defense of Islam, it’s a statement against the idea that faith in a greater power alone can make a person good, and your jibber-jabber (besides being your usual uninformed nonsense) fails to account for all of the Christian-on-Christian violence that also occurs in Africa.
Why, for example, does the LRA help with the cleansing of the Birka people? Simple: faith in Jesus alone is not enough. Why does Laurent Nkunda (an ordained minister) commit war crimes on behalf of the Tutsi (who are largely Christian these days) against the Hutu (Who are also largely Christian). The situation is so much more complex, so old, has so many factors (colonialism! diaspora! ethnicity! religion! food!) that for you to try to sum it up as “ISLAM DID IT” is uninformed, childish, and offensive. Stop your nonsense, Douglas.
Hit#er, Stal#n, Mussol#ni, Pol P#t, Sadam Hussi#n, all secular mass murders. I am sure there are many more secular mass murders not included in this list.
Doug Z. you are wrong the Roman empire was in steep decline before Christians came along.
Nero one of the last Ceasers Burned Christians at the stake and feed them to lions. He blamed them for the burning of Rome.
The pagan Romans became soft and addicted to their decadence long before the Christians came along. By the time of Nero they had a hard time raising an army. They relied more and more on mercenaries. Their people were soft and most were no longer willing and able to fight.
Sound familiar?
Sicilian Papa
Rome was not in decline when Nero was Emperor. The decline of Rome did not happen for at least 150 more years almost longer than the United States has been a country. After the death of Nero Rome continued gaining in wealth and power.

I believe you will enjoy your life under Islam. I know that you want to own a woman and Islam will give you that. I don’t know understand any reason a liberal or a Democrat that believes in women’s rights could anyway support Islam.
I was just joking about you owning a woman. But we are having fun here
While training our search and rescue German Shepherd this weekend, the members of our group started talking about the school shooting.
As we talked about ways to make the schools safer, by having a policeman at the school, an armed guard, armed teacher and/or metal detectors. Some one said what are trained dogs.
Trained dogs could be an answer. Two or three per school, one for the front door and one roaming the grounds. A current school worker could be trained to handle them. Most children love them. Would be views by the children as a friend and school mascot. They can be trained to smell gun powder, explosives, drugs and to find a child that get lost.
Yes, in this case. The shooter may have just killed the first dog but that would start the alert. Giving everyone more time, and the shooter would have to be on the look out for the second dog.
Just a thought and an option to look into.

Right. Are you going to keep BSing, or will you acknowledge that you kind of don’t know what you’re talking about when it comes to Africa? Come on, just a little contrition. The bottom line is that history is replete with genocides and atrocities of all variety: ethnic, religious, secular, and people with an agenda will always cherry-pick specific incidents to come to exactly the wrong conclusion.
My point isn’t “Islam isn’t bad” or “Christianity is as bad as Islam” or anything of that nature, my point is that everyone is trying to find a sensible context for things that have NO sense. You want to be able to say “if only we would ban guns” or “if only there were Christians,” you’re trying to apply meaning where there’s none to be found. Some people are just rotten.
USE YOUR NOGGIN. There are millions of gun owners, Christians, atheists, Muslims, white people, black people, poor people, and rich people in the United States who manage to make it through everyday of their lives without murdering their neighbors, going on rampages, or harming their fellow men.
To try to extrapolate the crazies onto the whole is not only foolish, it’s counterproductive. By this very rhetoric, you only contribute to the ‘Othering’ of those that are not like you, you create unnecessary social barriers and disconnection, the exact sort of things that contribute to an environment where resentment and violence can foster.
@DougZ, most people do not know the difference between semi-automatic, automatic and automatic loading weapons. For everyone information here. Semi-automatic, three bullets per trigger pull. Automatic just think of a machine gun. Now, I have been told that semi-automatic weapons are legal to own now. I know the last time a bought a rifle in 2001, automatic loading weapons – you don’t have to load the rifle after each trigger pull but only one bullet per trigger pull. Where legal but not semi-automatic.

No weapon by the citizenry should be more powerful than the standards of the USA police departments, otherwise , even our law enforcement agencies cannot protect us…since the 1996 ban on assault weapons expired in the early 2000′s, the police have been over matched in armory…their most powerful rifle is maybe a shot gun…AND…we do not want our police walking around with military type weapons like it was a third world nation,,,
Faith3 – Chile was just one example I mentioned because it was the first experiment not because it was the only country it failed in. Pointing out an exception to the rule proves nothing as in your example.
————————————
O I C! It only applies when it favors your point of view.
usa8888 – These weapons should be heavily regulated.
———————————–
What regulations do you suggest that we don’t already have?
Faith3 – giving easy access to guns makes no sense whatsoever. None.
—————————
Have you tried to buy a gun legally? Nothing easy about it.

All politics aside,,one of my greatest fear from this tragedy is terrorists will see our very justifiable reaction and generate plans to target our schools..
—————————–
I was thinking the same thing. I understand the media has to cover it, but IMO their over doing it.
Why aren’t the usual suspects who attack Huckabee & other FNC folks for talking about religion in the context of this latest school shooting not attacking Nobama? The man quoted scripture doing his speech.

It ain’t Evangelical Christians running around killing people in public places. It is mostly godless murderers in mostly blue states.
Now those are facts!
Instead of starting with banning guns why dont we start with banning all the grapic video games, graphic violence in the movies, and ban parents from being “best friends” with their kids instead of parents!! Then lets ban the news media from covering a tragedy like the school shooting as a ratings getter and sensationalizing it and make them report it then move on. Guess what, I watched one coverage of it, found out what happened and changed the channel. But the media wants to play it over and over and tell how it was done and what came fist second and third and educates the next wacko that wants to make a name or make a statement.
hey Papa, you still gettin your freak on with your new woman??
