“Now those are facts!”
_____________________
No, those aren’t facts, they’re your opinion. If you want to call something a fact, go research every rampage killing in global history, determine the denomination of each killer, and then tell me you’re reciting facts.
Worse, you’re falling into the tired fallacy of extrapolating extraordinary circumstances onto entire groups of people, which is highly prejudiced on your part. On December 14th, ONE MAN walked into a classroom and committed a heinous act. On that same day, 100 MILLION United States gun owners shot nobody, harmed nobody, did nothing but go about their lives. On that same day, 34 MILLION United States atheists mowed their lawns, went on dates with their girlfriends, donated to the Red Cross, flipped burgers at their minimum wage jobs, and engaged in the various mundane minutiae that most people engage in on a Friday.
For anyone to try to generalize onto a population of 310 million individuals the actions of one man in Newton, is simply repugnant. You are being a scumbag, SP.
I wish the new media would wait until they get the facts from the police before reporting. I hope the brother sues every news company that stated he was the shooter. I also hope he sues the police that handcuffed him. They knew he was in NJ at the time of the shooting and he agreed to go with them. They did not need to handcuff him and do a Perp walk.

Instead of starting with banning guns why dont we start with banning all the grapic video games, graphic violence in the movies, and ban parents from being “best friends” with their kids instead of parents!! Then lets ban the news media from covering a tragedy like the school shooting as a ratings getter and sensationalizing it and make them report it then move on. Guess what, I watched one coverage of it, found out what happened and changed the channel. But the media wants to play it over and over and tell how it was done and what came fist second and third and educates the next wacko that wants to make a name or make a statement.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAGREE!
STILL no Friday and Saturday-Sunday numbers?
Friday’s open!
@Matthew The situation is so much more complex, so old, has so many factors (colonialism! diaspora! ethnicity! religion! food!) that for you to try to sum it up as “ISLAM DID IT” is uninformed, childish, and offensive. Stop your nonsense, Douglas.
Who is Douglas?
@Ratboy = I don’t think its the graphic video games, graphic violence in movies. I do agree that to many parents are not parenting their children and the media is nuts on their coverage.
We have many different problems and society will always have problems.
When I look at my children’s school days, my youngest is still in high school. I can point to many things that leads to children having feeling of hopelessness and despair. And could lead to violence.
My public schools have gotten an “A” grade for the last 12 years and is in the top 10% state wide so it’s a very good school. However I see teachers that favored the popular kids and the popular parents and turn their backs on bullying when done by the in-crowd. And then we have the Eddie Haskell type bullies. Great children in front of parents and teachers but nasty brats when adults are gone. Now, being bullied is nothing new but what makes it unbearable for some children today is the schools stating they have anti-bullying programs and Zero tolerance rules.
Administrators and teachers talk about how great these programs are and how there is not bullying at their schools. The children they select to give anti-bullying speeches are the Eddie Haskells. So children are not only being bullied by their classmates but are being bullied by Adults with these anti-bullying programs.
On top of this we have the laws that protect children with disabilities, which include emotional, mental and even anger management problems. A child with a disabilities can not be held accountable for actions caused by their disorder. So, they are free to bite, kick, punch and spit at other children. My middle son had a boy who was labeled emotionally violent in the third grade. This boy kicked or punched other children daily to get the book or chair his wanted. The teacher told us that she couldn’t do anything about it because this was part of his condition. After other boys stopped giving out they items even after being punched or kicked this problemed boy started saying, “Give my the book or I’ll kill you with a knife.” According to my son, he said this to numerous children for week. Before he said it to my son.
Being the simple person, I am. The next day, I took my son to the superintendent to tell the story. I then informed him, he could make use of the Zero tolerance policy right now, or I go to the police to file a complain, my lawyer to sue for my child’s right to be safe in school, and lastly I would call the local news stations and tell them the school. Wouldn’t you know he decide expel the boy.
