Syfy's Craig Engler tweeted that tonight's scheduled episode of Haven would not be airing tonight due to the tragedy in Newtown, Ct.

via Twitter:

Tonight’s scheduled 10PM episode of Haven contained scenes of fictitious violence in a high school.

In light of today’s tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut, we have decided not to air it.

At this time, no decision has been made as to when the episode will air.

I guess they should cancel Homeland all together…

I don’t know how I feel about it when the entertainment industry decides to do these kinds of things; sometimes I feel a little cynical like it has nothing to do with respect and more to do with not wanting a backlash from the advertisers and the viewers which in turn affects the bottom line. I suppose it’s a bit of both, respect and pragmatism. I wish we lived in a world where it wasn’t necessary.

What a crock of crap. One is reality, the other is fictional entertainment. One has zero to do with the other. One person commits a horrible, atrocious act so all the fans of Haven are left to wonder about the airing of an episode that was integral to the story of Audrey disappearing?

    The terrorists have won.

  • Rangefinder

@Kristine — Yes, 20 little children lie dead, but the terrorists have won because you have to wait to watch a TV show. What a pathetic excuse for a human being you are.

I think this was the right move but people that say all series and movies should have a happy ending and no horror etc that is what i take issue with.

If they really want to make a statement they would pull the episode completely and never show it — as with all violent shows/movies. If you’re going to show it next week, makes your effort completely stupid and useless to me. Are the movie theaters pulling all current violent films off the schedule also? All all gun shops closing their doors for a week?

@Simon Jester: Yup. Although I’m not sure if Nick was saying I’m an idiot because I don’t want to watch Haven, or I’m just an idiot because I am. :/
    Spelling makes everything better!

In case anyone is still reading this thread, the episode “Reunion” will air on SyFy Thursday at 7pm eastern time. At least that’s what my DirecTv says.

  • Elaine

@Capitalist Infidel: Unfortunately I just checked syfy’s schedule and it still says Eureka will air at 7pm.

I don’t care how long I have to wait but I just hope they make a decision asap.

  • Capitalist Infidel

Elaine, according to directv the whole year of Haven starts at 8am on Thursday and ends with “Reunion” at 7pm with the finale at 10pm.

that awkward moment when people care more about an episode being cancelled/delayed than more important stuff like children’s death..priorities.
