@Matthe werrr, what? Total population size is not at all relevant when you’re looking at the per-capita probability of an event occurring. For example, you’re 131 times more likely to die of gun-related violence in America than you are in Japan, despite similar population sizes.
Matthew love your posts although I hardly ever agree with you. I have noticed lately that you are using data that I can’t find when I try to ck your posts. More often than not you don’t source what you are posting. As a teacher once told me–”I might accept that from other students, but I expect more from you–insert friendly smile
You’re argument is what if a person has a more deadlier weapon?
Well Gabe, that depends if you want to live in a place like Columbia where the citizens must protect themselves with heavy artillery for the purpose of protection or living in a more civilized place. If people want to buy deadlier weapons for the purpose of protection, you have just created what you wished for….not a safer place btw and very much less civil.
@Matthew–maybe you have a blue state browser–when I put my curser over it I get 10.5

Per-capita firearm related deaths, by country, most of the data coming from WHO and a rather out-of-date paper by EG Krug.
My food stamp numbers came directly from the USDA.
@Matthew–I will eat humble pie–I was putting my “red state cursor over Kansas. I will use a leftist argument to cover my embarrassment—It could be worse—those 16% are obama supporters—they are everywhere—-on that note–I will say good night–
“State: Oklahoma
Percent of population on food stamps: 16.6%
Annual change: 2%”
____________
That is the exact information that website is giving me.
Ah! Ah. Ah.
Per-capita firearm related deaths, by country, most of the data coming from WHO and a rather out-of-date paper by EG Krug.
I take nothing seriously that comes from the WHO–a socialist far left wing organization with less credibility than the UN–
Good Night Matthew–we will always disagree-
This pretty much proves when breaking news happens. CNN is the place to go. Too bad they can’t get this type of viewership on a daily basis…
Look at the ratings. CNN must be happy… Oh, wait!
@Dennis, stop lying about Canada not having Fox news. It’s an internet urban legend you fool.
@LetmeThink “Oklahoma 10.5 food stamps–among the lowest on food stamps”
Wrong!!! Oklahoma had the 20th highest percentage in 2011 with a 14.3% rate. Currently they are at a 16.6% rate an still climbing. That’s a Red State for you.
In fact they just broke their own State record for people on Food Stamps.

Diamond Dave, you are so wrong about FOX.Most everyone on FOX said it would be a landslide.4 of the 5 on the Five said it would be a landslide. All 3 stooges on FOX and friends said landslide. Most all the pin up girls that pretend to be FOX anchors said”landslide”.
P.S. the folks in Oklahoma that aren’t on food stamps think God is going to bring them food. They live in the dummy belt of this country.
@DiamondDave “O’Reilly is an Independent”
O’Reily is a Conservative on a Conservative Cable News program.
O’Reilly and Hannity have lost their juice, no one will go on their shows, they have the same mutants on every show. They will both end up on GBTV!!!!!
Even Bernie Goldberg admitted that people on the Right were politicizing the Shootings for their own agenda.
O’Reilly asked who on the Right was doing that…Bernie specifically said “Fox News”.
Ouch!!! That had to hurt!
I know how to solve this problem:…Pass laws against stealing guns, breaking in schools, and killing kids, problem solved. And drugs and alcohol, speeding, drinking and driving.
LOL at eggmanbill
Mark2,
And that is why I respect his show, people will provide other viewpoints
@Dave, stop lying about Fox news. There were only two people who thought it would be a landslide. And after Sandy hit most Fox news people where saying it was over for Romney. That the storm gave Obama the lime light.
So just stop lying….
About food stamps and red states being some of the highest using them. Maybe if the government hadn’t been taxing us for so many years, people would have money in savings and not need the food stamps.
Food stamps programs are run differently in every state. For years Michigan give food stamps to college students who were not even Michigan residents.
