Due to the nature of live  programming the ratings for NBC (NFL Football),  & CBS (Football Overruns) are approximate and subject to more than the typical adjustments in the final numbers. See below for more information on these Fast Affiliate Ratings.

Also, during the President’s address from Newtown, CT, Sunday Night Football shifted to CNBC and NBC Sports Network. Due to long NFL overrun on CBS and  coverage of the Presidential address, the numbers are more scrambled than usual. Everything below is broken down by half hour.

NBC was number one among adults 18-49, but CBS won with total viewers.

On FOX, The Simpsons garnered a 1.9, down a ratings point and a half  from last week's 3.4 adults 18-49  (which had an NFL overrun lead-in. The Cleveland Show scored a 1.4, down two tenths from last week's 1.6 adults 18-49 rating.

On CBS, the finale of Survivor: Philippines scored a 3.2  adults 18-49 rating,  up four tenths from last week's 2.8 on Wednesday, and up three tenths from last spring's finale (which earned a 2.9). However, it was down from last year's fall finale, which earned a 4.0 adults 18-49 rating. The Survivor Reunion show aired outside primetime and earned a preliminary 2.3 from 11:00 to 11:30 PM

On ABC, The Bachelorette: Ashley and JP's Wedding earned a dismal 0.9 adults 18-49 rating

Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

For more information see Numbers 101 and Numbers 102.

    Also, all Connecticut affiliates aired local news from 7-9.

  • Fred

    ABC would have been better of airing reruns of OUAT, REVENGE and 666.
    I predicted the Wedding special would tank, but not below a 1.0!

  • THE OLD MAN

    Only “21″ comments so far, another slow day. Will check back later today to see what’s up (or not, whichever applies).

  • Dan

    Wow no more Bachelorette weddings for ABC, bad timing especially with the presidential address. FOX should have kept the Family Guy and American Dad episodes, they were holiday themed after all.

  • Bazza

    @Oliver @Vasco Silva
    Family guy was meant to be new but was quickly changed. The low ratings had nothing to do with FG it was down to some regions pre-empting the Simpsons.

  • The Cool Max

    Why is Survivor Reunion listed at 11? It was shown promptly at 10. Is that a error?

  • BOTR

    “The Floppelorette?”

    It’s official: this trend of replacing part of an unsuccessful/under-performing show’s title with “flop” (i.e “Flop Factor”) needs to die.

  • mike

    the simpson clevland bob burger fg and american dad show was preempted to obama last night here on east coast

  • lll

    @Petar Ivanov
    +1 for Elementary to move to Sundays. The super bowl boost should help to rebuild that night.

  • RJ

    @The Old Man,
    With all the messed up data, nothing is interesting to talk about.

  • s0303

    @cool max…don’t know where you live, but survivor started in indiana at 9 and reunion show at 11…everything was late due to football overrun and presidentual address…

  • The Cool Max

    @ s0303> West Coast. Started on time.

  • JC

    How times have changed. The Trista/Ryan Bachelorette wedding from 2003 had 17mil viewers.

  • CenterGravity

    @BOTR

    I knew someone would really like that!

  • Adien

    CBS should just move Survivor to Sundays and pair it up with The Amazing Race. Both have built in and cross audience. Both should deliver 9-10 million viewers + 2.5 in demos? definitely an improvement from what they have now!
    Good Wife can finish the night

    Mentalist can anchor Friday

    A new drama can kick off Wednesday. That night is aging, all its shows are 8 years or older!

  • RandyL

    @Dan T

    I live in the East Coast and saw the entire Simpsons. Bob’s Burgers was interupted a few minutes in. But later around 9 finished the rest of the episode where it left off.

  • Philip2

    @III: Did you even notice TM’s decline after moving from Thursdays to Sundays? It went from a 2.6 to a 1.8. Elementary is already down to scoring 2.2′s with pretty much zero competition. Elementary at 9 or 10 on Sundays would be the beginning of the end for that show–Super Bowl or not.

  • J-Spot

    The Fox numbers need an asterisk. The St. Louis affiliate didn’t air The Simpsons on a delay.

  • Bazza

    As The Simpsons was per-emptied in the east-cost will they repeat it and what will happen with the official figure will it just count the figures without it.

  • CBSviewer

    Someone knows if the 25th Season of The Simpsons will be the last ?
