We're into the holiday season for the Renew / Cancel Index and this post before the holiday break gives readers a chance to pick which shows they'd cancel were they a network programmer. You can vote as many times as you'd like, pick as many as you'd like. I've included every show, even canceled ones, so that no one feels left out!
Scheduling note: The Renew / Cancel Index will return with new Indexes and predictions on January 8, 2013 and will then only use the ratings since December 31, 2012 for its calculations for the remainder of the season. Expect prediction changes in the first weeks of 2013.

- certain to be renewed by May, 2012
The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).
(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

@LisaNeedsBraces is correct on Elementary, I think. CBS definitely thought it would become a juggernaut in that slot, with “no” competition, and now Scandal is beating it in the demo. If it doesn’t pick up and retain an audience after the Superbowl, it’s in trouble. And I think NBC is actually going to try running a new drama, Do No Harm, in that timeslot starting at the end of January?
Glad to see Blue Bloods; however, wish they would work it out with “Jackie” as her replacement needs help!
Love Blue Bloods, NCIS, Person of Interest, and Elementary! Hope they all continue for a very long time. Excellent characters, dialog and story lines.
I think… cancel ”Vegas”, maybe ”Golden Boy” and ”C.S.I NY” and give the mentalist a 13 episode final season, renew the good wife for a final 22 episode season, and Two and a half men, and How i met your mother for a 22 episode final season as well.
MONDAY:
8:00 – How i met your mother (FS)
8:30 – New Sitcom
9:00 – 2 Broke Girls
9:30 – Mike & Molly
10:00 – Rules of Engagement
TUESDAY:
8:00 – NCIS
9:00 – NCIS L.A
10:00 – Hawaii 5-0
WEDNESDAY:
8:00 – Survivor
9:00 – Criminal Minds
10:00 – Person of Interest
THURSDAY:
8:00 – The Big Bang Theory
8:30 – Two and a half men (FS)
9:00 – Elementary
10:00 – New Show
FRIDAY:
8:00 – Blue Bloods
9:00 – New Show
10:00 – Undercover Boss
SUNDAY:
7:00 – 60 MINUTES
8:00 – THE AMAZING RACE
9:00 – The Good Wife (FS)
10:00 – The Mentalist (FS)/New Show
Four new shows on fall, one new show for midseason taking the mentalist spot
Undercover Boss has a 22 episode fifth season, just like season 2
Or…
FRIDAY:
8:00 – Blue Bloods
9:00 – Golden Boy (If its not cancelled)
10:00 – Undercover Boss*
CSI: NY and Vegas will be gone next year, most likely. The rest are reasonably safe, though I wouldn’t be surprised to see The Mentalist or The Good Wife bite the dust.
Two and a Half Men needs to end as soon as possible, as much as I like Ashton. And even though 2 Broke Girls seems to be sticking around, it shouldn’t have made it past the first season. Unfortunate, because I had high hopes for that show. Mike and Molly, while not excellent, will not be cancelled. BBT has already been renewed and will be around past next year, which is too bad considering it is already beginning to lose it’s originality. Not to mention I absolutely hate laugh tracks.
That being said, I’ve loved HIMYM for a long time, and wouldn’t mind it receiving a final season during the 2014-2015 season. Ten years seems perfect.
Sorry but do you people ever watch “the Good Wife” certainly better than most of the rest with terrific storylines and great actors. It is great show and it should be doing a lot better than it is. I guess people just like to watch crap.
Blue Bloods is a great show with great story lines and great actors all the way around. It is great to see Tom Selleck and Donnie Wallberg working together.
Im a huge fan of CSI: NY but i know it’s likely canceled. If The Mentalist and TGW are Renewed TGW should move to Friday at 9.
FRIDAY
8:00 – NEW DRAMA / Undercover Boss
9:00 – The Good Wife
10:00 – Blue Bloods
SUNDAY
8:00 – The Amazing Race
9:00 – Elementary
10:00 – The Mentalist
Elementary and The Mentalist are very similar and would certainly work well together. CBS could premiere two new dramas on Tuesday at 9 and 10 (like they did in 2008) and move NCIS: Los Angeles to Thursday at 10 to build a “huge” night.
Explain to me why, if Vegas has a better renew/cancel index than Menatalist and Good Wife, that it is likely to be cancelled but the other two are on the bubble. They aren’t labled as Friday shows, so they should be downgraded as likely to be cancelled too right?
As I”ve think CBS Network as of next season 2013/14 should shuffle there shecdule around & getting rid of some of their aging shows like NCIS,2&/men,CSI NY to join with those dearly departed shows like partners & made in jersey.& those to keep are the mentalist,the good wife,CSI,& Vegas.Here is how there shecdule shall be for 2013/14 season starting with;

mike&molly: molly turned in to roseannne barr, screaming at mike and sarcastic comments, we dont need another. how I met your mother: get on with it! ted needs to find his woman and stop trying to be a repeat of Friends, thats been done to death! The Mentalist: all around good show, fans are getting tired of looking for red john. Big Bang Theory: can be funny but too many shows focus on sheldon. Person of Interest: like it when they take care of business and get the job done without pussyfooting around.
Even i like Vegas…it does not have future ::……Cancel
CBS has a lot of good shows going for it now, so I bet a lot of these will be renewed by May. The ones below are as good as dead.
Made in Jersey
CSI: NY
The Good Wife
Vegas

@CharlieMiller- Vegas is a rookie show in a better timeslot than both Good Wife and Mentalist. It should have much better ratings being that it is led in by the NCIS twins, but it doesn’t. It’s ratings are worse than Unforgettable’s was last year.
I believe The Good Wife will either be cancelled or given a 13 episode final season next year. The only reason it has lasted as long as it has is because of the Emmy love. If Golden Boy gets renewed though, then Good Wife will be bear chow.
Of all the shows on the bubble, I believe the Mentalist has the best shot at renewal. It would be a good show to put on Friday nights to lead in Blue Bloods after CSI NY gets the axe.
I love The Good Wife, the Mentalist and CSI-NY.
I hope they keep all 3 of them.

2 Broke Girls – awful from minute one
Two and a Half Men — sorry but not good anymore
How I Met Your Mother
KEEP
NCIS – love this show
Blue Bloods – really like this show – all the actors
The Good Wife – move to another day Sundays hurt cause of football delays
Vegas — like the show hope it gets better
NCIS: Los Angeles – like this show
Hawaii Five-0 – like show might just need another day
CSI:NY
CSI
Elementary
The Big Bang Theory – funny show
SO SO
The Mentalist – needs some help – watched all seasons
Person Of Interest never watched could be timing
Criminal Minds – never watched could be when it is on
Still dont understand how the Good wife is in the toss section, when it makes more than 10 million a week.
I really wish they’d cancel Elementary, CBS can do so much better than that show. It’s similar to The Mentalist but Holmes is just annoying and grating rather than charming and quirky and I so don’t believe that Watson would quit medicine to be an addicts baby-sitter…puhleeze! I’ve tried to watch the show a few times just to give it a chance, each time…I end up changing the channel. Oh and CSI just needs to go already too! That show has long since run it’s course.
On the upside, both my husband and I LOVE Person of Interest!! That is one we make sure not to miss!
