You can vote as many times as you'd like, pick as many as you'd like. I've included every show, even canceled ones, so that no one feels left out!

Scheduling note: The Renew / Cancel Index will return with new Indexes and predictions on January 8, 2013 and will then only use the ratings since December 31, 2012 for its calculations for the remainder of the season. Expect prediction changes in the first weeks of 2013.

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2012
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2012
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2012
  • :) :) :) :) - more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2012

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

    The CW Scripted Average: 0.7

I’ve compiled all off the scripted ratings data for The CW this season. All of the seasonal averages listed below (and the scripted average) are up-to-date as of Sunday, December 16, 2012.

    Shows Above Average:

    The Vampire Diaries – 1.4
    Arrow – 1.2
    Supernatural – 0.9

    Shows Equal to Average:

Beauty and the Beast – 0.7

    Shows Below Average:

    Hart of Dixie – 0.6
    90210 – 0.5
    Gossip Girl – 0.4
    Emily Owens, M.D. – 0.4
    Nikita – 0.3

**(+) indicates a weekly increase in the average
**(–) indicates a weekly decrease in the average

OK, I haven’t watched Beauty and the Male Model. I cannot bring myself to do so. I adore the previous incarnations – George C. Scott, Robbie Benson, etc. But I was, without watching, offended by the pretty CW boy who had a pimple and was presented to us as a beast. Did the pretty boy actor refuse the arduous make-up job? Go watch the 80s series. That is some yummy (I’m a professional women remembering having a glass of wine and watching “romance on TV”) television.

    @ Melissa
So if Beauty and the Beast has ‘average’ ratings.. then does that mean it has a higher chance of getting renewed.. higher than that of oh i dont know, 90210, and Heart of Dixie ??

  • hunkey

Cancell all the shows that had been stuck on a “ZERO point ratings” since like forever!

  • easy

Beauty definitely is a great show, and one of the two new shows which have survived the fall in terms of steady demos, and viewership. It’s different,
and it has a ton of potential. The fact they sought after Kristin Kreuk is a plus, with some of the original B&B folks as well as Smallville writers.
    It deserves a 2nd season…and more ;)

  • Dan

Well at least most networks this year are airing the episodes that they have even of cancelled shows. Both 666 and Last Resort are getting proper finales and airing all episodes whereas 6 or 7 years ago they would have been dumped after a few eps.

Shows will always get cancelled but its great to see so many networks airing all the eps they ordered. Partners and Animal Practice are the exceptions but I think CBS will air Partners remaining eps next summer and NBC posted Animal Practice’s unaired eps online.

Reason would dictate canceling a few shows on the network that I watch due to their ratings, but since I don’t actually have to make big decisions and can fantasize about the renewal of the shows I enjoy, CW TPTB here is my Christmas Wish List:

Supernatural, my favorite show on TV starring two incredibly good looking guys saving the world while having to sacrifice so much – that’s just good television!
Nikita, this season has rocked and Devon Sawa is now a series regular and I’m loving the mystery surrounding his character not to mention that Melinda Clarke is one of the coolest villains ever.
Hart of Dixie, I need Wilson Bethel on my TV screen each week.
Beauty and the Beast, simply because I’m intrigued and I want to see where this mystery is going and I don’t hate it and I’m grateful the show is improving.
Arrow, the best new show for the network this year, one of the best new shows of the entire TV season and it has quickly become one of my favorite shows on TV.

The Vampire Diaries, and I realize that most people think I’m nuts, but I hate this show and it is all Elena’s fault. This was once one of my favs, but that character has ruined the entire show for me, especially since being turned into a vampire. Now, if Julie Plec would just kill off the character, then I’d be one very happy viewer.
Gossip Girl, oh yeah the CW finally did it!!
90210, this genre of TV should be left to ABC Family, it is time for the CW to grow up.
Emily Owens, it was a crime to put Justin Hartley in such a crappy show. Network Execs, find him a good role!
ANTM, because reality TV is evil.

Robert Knepper, Matt Davis, and Alona Tal are all awesome so I’m hoping for good things for Cult in the Spring. Honestly I see The Carrie Diaries as a step back for the network trying to recapture the heyday of Gossip Girl and that just saddens me. CW evolve or die.

Rachel Bilson is soo REPLACEABLE as a lead in HOD. Its viewers tend to hooked up on Wilson Bethel &/or Jamie King instead of its supposed-to-be ^lead star^ on the said show – possibly thats why the show cant even have decent ratings – shame!

  • reidjr

The thing is the Vampire Diaries is one if not the biggest rated series on Cw
they can’t afford to cancel it even if they did another network would pick it up.

  • Charmed

    Renewed: The Vampire Diaries
    Hart Of Dixie
    Nikita (21 episode final season)

    Canceled: Beauty And The Beast
    Emily Owens, MD
    Gossip Girl

There is 2 ways The CW can go about this, the risky way in cancelling all but the top 3 shows or the way they usually go about things and hope for another Arrow. They need to cancel Nikita, Hart of Dixie and Beauty & The Beast and give 90210 a final short season as they tend to do well for the last few episodes and use them to launch a new show. I’d like to see them try their hand at a couple sitcoms. But I can see them getting rid of Hart of Dixie and then have 3 new shows next fall.

  • Nicole

Theres no need to speculate with the CW they renew bad rated shows and cancel good ones all the time. Noone can pinpoint which ones the CW will save because they make whacky decisions. But if they actually made their decisions based on ratings and quality.. Heart of Dixie, Nikita, and <eauty and the Beast should be cancelled. VD and SN are the only ones deserving renewal. But the CW does what it wants.. i wouldnt be suprised if they cancelled SN and kept Beauty instead , it would be like last year with HOD and TSC.

  • Bitter Ringer Fan

People are asking for Flop0210’s head!! wrap it up already!

  • herpderp

    Copeland Prep
    90210 (final 13 eps)

    The Tomorrow People
    Sleepy Hollow

    The Vampire Diaries

    Hart of Dixie
    Beauty & the Beast

  • Kris

I watch Arrow, TVD and Beauty and the Beast is my favorite. The rest can go.

  • MarcJames87

Arrow is the biggest CW show in the UK. As long as that stays I’m happy.

  • Vcoolwater

If CW renews Hart of Dixie next season, it basically renewing the show for the next two season. I don’t see the show doing any better than 0.5-0.6 in the ratings.

Even the ratings might be stable. CW would be foolish to stick with a show that gets mediocre ratings for the long run. Plus it is a not very good lead in for new shows on Tuesday.

Maybe CW should ship it off to Fridays next season if it renew. The audience seems loyal to show. Plus it mediocre ratings would be a hit for them on Fridays.

  • Fred

This is whats likely going to happen.
90210 is likely gonna get a send off season of 10-12 ep like GG.
BatB is already lower than TSC last year with a lead in that get 1.3-1.4 its likely dead thats not gonna cut it for a freshman show at all.
I think Carrie diaries is gonna make it but Cult is gonna die with horrible lead in HoD.
HoD is maybe coming back but its already howering on 0.5-06 in its sophmore year on a tuesday thats not good at all.

TVD,Arrow, Nikita and SPN is all coming back for full seasons. Don’t get the people that insist season 4 will be the last for Nikita. I think a 5th season for Nikita is very likely its just like Fringe. After season 4 it only need 11 ep to get to 100 ep. That would be a much better number business wise for CW and Warner to end Nikita on just like FOX has done for Fringe this year.

  • The Cool Max

Can we just cancel every show on the CW already?

  • KT

I watch one, and only one, show on this network, and I LOVE Hart of Dixie. I am not a fan of the whole superhero/vampires trend that is popular nowadays, so I’m pretty apathetic about half the shows on the network.
