We're into the holiday season for the Renew / Cancel Index and this post before the holiday break gives readers a chance to pick which shows they'd cancel were they a network programmer. You can vote as many times as you'd like, pick as many as you'd like. I've included every show, even canceled ones, so that no one feels left out!

Scheduling note: The Renew / Cancel Index will return with new Indexes and predictions on January 8, 2013 and will then only use the ratings since December 31, 2012 for its calculations for the remainder of the season. Expect prediction changes in the first weeks of 2013.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

For me beauty and the beast sucks, I tried to watch, but kristen.k is really boring, impersonal and bad actress.and 0.5,0.6 rating shows it.cancell

  • cony

    BatB-Cancel!!With the best lead-in it still crumbles. v.d 1.3 and batb 0.6 It’s sad!!

  • Tessa

Lol at Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries getting more votes than Nikita. I can’t stand The Vampire Diaries, yet even I wouldn’t cancel it if I were in charge. I guess the network could have worse presidents than Dawn Ostroff. :D

  • erty

Cancel beauty and the beast, its already dead.

  • BeBe

All of them, except for Arrow

  • umin

oh yeah, Kristen acting is very bad, totally unconvincing, I watched 2 episodes and gave up, so cancel the beauty and the beast!!!

  • Zach

I think (know it won’t happen) that the CW should renew Hart of Dixie and move it to Thursdays at 9. It has a loyal audience plus if it could hold on to some of TVD’s audience it would be golden with an average of .7 or .8. BATB only hope is moving to Fridays next year. It’s not getting another year behind TVD. And it’s been proven a new show can’t do anything behind TVD so why not try something else?

  • Fred

Zach i could see BatB move to 9pm with Nikita at 8pm that could be a good combo. But a freshman show getting 0.5-0.6 might not cut it and its obvious on friday at 9pm it would go further down against Grimm.

  • zebry

I watched the first episode of Beauty and the Beast,it was awful and I quit. i think no chance to win 2 season with 0.5,0.6 in the first half of the first season

  • MissP

    Everything.

  • Jane

I think they keep Nikita because it’s one of their least embarrassing shows (quality wise) and it’s funny that it’s actually doing well in this poll.

  • Ali

Gotta keep Beauty and the Beast!!!!!!! Best chemistry on television!!! Love this show!

  • Kris

I seriously hope they DO give BatB atleast 1 more season–hoping for 2 more. I wouldn’t even care if they move it to Friday. I’d follow it–as would most other “Beastie” fans, and I think it would pair nicely as an 8pm lead in to a 9pm Nikita. Part of why they canceled TSC was high production cost relative to ratings. I don’t think BatB is as expensive to produce as TSC. I know the nature of the story won’t equal a ten season run, like SV. Even the original 80′s series didn’t go more than 4 seasons, but I think BatB deserves 2-4 seasons. It is developing quite a fanbase–both in the U.S and internationally.

  • Hello

Cancel The Carrie Diaries. We don’t want another Gossip Girl type show for another six years.

  • SRD

    @zebry

You ought to watch the last episode of Beauty & the Beast. It’s unbelievably better than the pilot.

  • Anti-Deluded

Beauty and the Beast. The “so-called” lead actress can’t act and has absolutely no chemistry with what’s supposed to be the “beast”. She was barely passable in SV and the only sort of chemistry she ever had was with Tom Welling. It’s ratings are bad and the demos aren’t great either.

It’s not established enough to deserve a second season. Moving it to Fridays and thinking it would do well there is a very deluded thought.

  • dayv

Cancel them all except for 90210…it’s the only good show on the CW.

  • Melody

@reidjr I am aware of that, that is why I said this was my wish list, not what I actually expect to happen.

  • Naomio

90210. It was great when it started in 2008, it was good in 2009, lost track in 2010, went to heck in 2011. It is back to good in 2012, but it has lost the premise completely. There is not much you can do with the characters anymore, the show has lost its appeal, they are no longer in high school… I believe it should get a happy ending. AnnaLynne McCord looks way too grown-up to be playing a 20-year old. Time to go.

  • Gillian

The only thing I care about is HoD. Nice change from the endless vampire / fantasy / fairytale shows. Aren’t people bored of this stuff yet?

The rest, they can all go for all I care. Don’t get the ‘loyalty’ argument for 90210 – it’s had it’s day, and it’s day has passed. Let it go already.
