Pete, also, those that watch network news, like your parents, are generally more interested in local news in their area rather than political news.

I generally watch network news, local news, at least one hour at day, and I’m a political news junky. FNC is not going to have any of the news stories happening around my area unless it’s something REAL big.

  • 1966

    @ratboy
    you need a white chirstmas!

  • Pete S.

and most ordinary people don’t think of cnn as “liberal” news. its more of a familiar household name due to the age of that network. been around for forever.

  • BevAG

1966, where do you find these great videos, or whatever they’re called???? It just absolutely makes my day.

What fond memories I get from these. WOW!! I love being reminded of the great times in my life when I was young. It’s so wonderful to go back there in mind through your posts.

I hope the young people on this board, Dems or Reps, are filling their lives with great memories so you can look back on them with fondness like I do when I listen to 1966’s music picks!!

@ratboy. rain then snow….. equals very bad roads. You better do your shopping now.
As for network watchers. No, the libs can’t see that because it doesn’t support their view of the world.

@mark2 – Spin spin spin….. Election do not prove what the countries core beliefs are. 1) Sadly, for the country. Most voters, vote based on likability. 2) They only prove who was better at getting their message out or as in the last election how well you can make Americans believe the other party is evil.

But, I’ll play. Now the point here is to use past elections (the popular vote) to prove that a majority of Americans are lib/progressive thinking. Now a majority means more than 50% of the popular vote. (According to Websters dictionary a majority is more than 50%.)
But lets take it back 7.
    1988 – G.H. Bush 53.37% of the popular vote conserv 1 – lib 0
1992 – Bill Clinton 43.01% (Clinton ran against two conservative. The total conservatives votes were 56.21%) conserv 2 – lib 0
    1996 – Bill Clinton 49.23% conserv 2 – lib 0 no majority 1
    2000 – W. Bush 47.87% Al Gore 48.38% conserv 2 – lib 0 no majority 2
    2004 – W. Bush 50.73% conserv 3 – lib 0 – no majority 2
    2008 – Obama 52.87% conserv 3 – lib 1 – no majority 2
    2012 – Obama 50.97% conserv 3 – lib 2 – no majority 2

What does this show us? Our country is not a majority of conservatives or Lib/progressives. No party is has been a long term winner. Neither party is dying. We flip back and other all the time. Truly, what Americans want is a middle ground government.

I suggest hillbilly get out of the hills and enroll in the University of Tennessee’s graduate economics program so he can gain some understanding of economics during a bad recession or depression. What you DON’T do is what the right wingers suggest–nothing…because that will result in the economy collapsing. Spending is absolutely essential and the infrastructure program will create millions of jobs, help our infrastructure and do so when interest rates are near zero. The QE1, etc. helped but is not enough given the severity of the recession. You don’t manage a government’s economy like that of your checkbook–it’s completely different, as economists know. Now, we need the right wingers with their extreme backward thinking to stop obstructing Obama and the economy will begin a strong recovery.

@ratboy. rain then snow….. equals very bad roads. You better do your shopping now.

Shopping is done and has been for a while but it is gonna be a little bit tricky tonight as I fire up the smokers in the snowstorm!! Smoking whitefish and salmon and pot roast, pork, and a chicken tonight and then a couple of ducks and a couple more pot roasts and maybe a brisket on Saturday!

  • Ratboy

@ The QE1, etc. helped but is not enough given the severity of the recession.

Someone is NOT sharing their drugs!!! The QE1 did nothing! Some of that stimulis money has not even been spent yet and most of the “projects” were bogus or already approved but placed under the stimulus. (interstate 94 bridge construction and widening at Portage/Kalamazoo as just one example)

The loons are back on the lake!!!!

  • moncon

Anyone see any coverage on MSNBC on the plight of the parents trying to get their son out of a Mexican Prison? I consider that a news worthy story, alot of Americans go to Mexico. I hear crickets. Depends on who you are is what kind of help you get I guess.

  • moncon

Because if the President were on top of it we would be hearing him crow from his podium of what a great job he is doing.

  • cathy

@hillybilly Don’t listen to usa8888. This person posts and posts but never provides links to support anything he/she says.

What usa8888 and Obama’s plan of tax increases and increase spending is what caused the Great Depression. I have listed a number of links to economic papers that prove Obama’s plan will cause another Great Depression.

  • Jeff

@Does any of the loons on the left realize that many of the network watchers are not watching as a conservitive or a libera….

Problem with your statement is that you fail to “as usual” include the right wing whack balloons in your attempt to make a really good point. I agree with the statement but you again you fail include the more extreme vile brainwashed right wing Fox News bubble dwellers. Lol! Ya know I just had to clear that up.

Oh! and I know many lefties that should not buy things hook line and sinker as well, but they won’t find accuracy on Fox

moncon, you and all of the other right-wing t-baggers are making a big story out of nothing. Typical of ignorant faux news sheep, brainwashed by the propaganda as set forth by Murdoch’s marching orders. The goon in a mexican prison isn’t a big deal. The fool shouldn’t have tried to bring a gun into Mexico. The idiot shouldn’t have owned a gun to begin with.

    ^ Very twisted sarcasm.

It doesn’t surprise me at all to see the silence on this issue. After all, it involves a caucasian male and a gun. It will end up on a few networks in a few weeks as Big O and others keep up the rant, kind of like the crickets surrounding Benghazi.

  • Jeff

@I have listed a number of links to economic papers that prove Obama’s plan will cause another Great Depression.

    Tick tock tick tock…..

You are Waiting/hoping for to happen. All signs show the opposite of your “stories”

  • usa8888

Cathy obviously has no economics education nor any experience with econometric modeling or she would know that her solutions of cutting spending during a depression make no sense. The economics papers she referenced above were written by right wing “economists” whose views are completely opposite from those of the vast majority of economists from reputable universities. These economists views are analogous to the warped views of creationists (i.e., rick Perry, etc.). To say that spending caused the Great Depression indicates a complete lack of understanding of the era and its economics.

  • Mikey O

    @usa8888

If goverment spending works so great then we should have been boomimg with low unemployment, spending over 850 billion on Stimlus. We were promised unemployment wouldnlt get over 8 % and now should be under 6% by now. What happen to all those shovel ready jobs ?? Now they use the buzz words investments, Like the goverment invested in solar engery and selling GM stock for a loss. Goverment needs to stop spending so much and get the heck out of the way with all these rules and new requirements. First place to start is the EPA.

  • Ratboy

    @ Mikey O
What happen to all those shovel ready jobs

Yep, like I metioned in an earlier post, In SW Michigan I94 runs through Kalamazoo/ Portage and the road widening and bridge replacement was to be done in phases over a few years since they had to rip out and widen 3 or 4 bridges in the area. The project was approved and it was started and the schedule of what was going to be done and when was published. Then came the great Obama Stimulus. All of a sudden signs went up that the project was a result of the stimulus!!! That was joke number one. The here comes crazy Joe Biden for the “ground breaking” of a project already over a year in progress! That was joke number two. Then came the change in contractors no longer using “local labor” but out of town union guys! That was joke number three!
That area can send out a great big thank you to King Obama for the great stimulus and what it did for the area and the local construction workers who got to sit and watch out of towners do their jobs!
