NBC’S ‘The Voice’ CROWNS CASSADEE POPE AS WINNER OF THIRD CYCLE OF HIT VOCAL COMPETITION SERIES TONIGHT (DECEMBER 18)
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – December 18, 2012 -- NBC’s “The Voice” crowned Cassadee Pope as the winner of the popular vocal competition series’ third cycle in tonight’s (Tuesday, December 18) live results show and season finale, earning Pope the grand prize of a recording contract with Universal Republic Records.

Pope, from Team Blake, beat out fellow finalists Terry McDermott (who came in second place) and Nicholas David (third place) -- all of whom performed on the December 18 finale.

The musician coaches are Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, CeeLo Green and Blake Shelton.

Pope, from Los Angeles, is starting out fresh as a solo artist after touring with her pop/rock band, Hey Monday. She plays guitar as well as some bass, drums and violin and prides herself on knowing a "surprising amount of 1980s rock music." In her spare time, Pope enjoys her hobbies of cooking, hiking and writing. Follow her on Twitter @CassadeePope and on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CassadeePopeMusic.

McDermott, from New Orleans, La., was on Team Blake. Originally from Scotland, McDermott moved to the United States years ago with his band, Driveblind, but now he's trying to make it as a solo artist. His favorite song is "Imagine" by John Lennon. McDermott is a huge soccer enthusiast and currently lives in New Orleans with his wife and son. David is from St. Paul, Minn. and was on Team CeeLo. Formerly overweight, David fell into bad habits when he began performing with a country band after college. After meeting his dream girl five years ago and finding a spiritual path, he has cleaned up his life and now raises their two children (with another on the way). Singing what he calls “heart music,” David continues to perform in nightly gigs. Follow David on Twitter @TheFeelin and on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thefeelin

We can add her to the list of recording artists we will never hear about again.

  • Brad

    Seems classy… I’d Do her…

But the goofy looking dude w/the beard should have one….

  • Jay

Aside from Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood from America, Girls Aloud from Popstars: The Rivals (UK), Leona Lewis from X-Factor (UK), Susan Boyle from America’s Got Talent (UK), and Jackie Evancho from America’s Got Talent (US), nothing good has come from reality music competitions in the last decade.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Cassadee Pope becomes another WHO? As has been the fate of the last half a dozen winners from all talent show programs the last few years.

  • duffcry

Jay, what about ONE DIRECTION and CHER LLOYD, both having sucess in the US and UK??

  • Andy

@Jay-You forgot about One Direction, they are probably going to be the biggest thing to come out of Music Competitions.

  • JohnC

    Actually,

Jackie is quite popular among PBS type audiences.

She toured with David Foster very often.

I would say that she is quite successful in her own way.

  • Ryan

Cas Pope will not be a “Who?” I can assure you that

  • Ashley

I agree with everyone else. A year from now, we will all have forgotten her name. Remember on AI a couple of yrs ago, there was that pretty brunette who also screeched a lot and got voted off early. Everyone was surprised and upset and said she’ll do better than the winner, Scotty McCreery. I think that was the season. Well, where is she now? She’s known for dating the dancer from Dancing with the Sfars.

I thought that Terry or Nichiolas David should have won. I thought both of them had more talent than lil’ miss pope.Amanda should have been in the finals there is no way Pope has more tallent than her Amanda’s voice is even stronger Terry’s Nicholas’s David’s and Amanda’s voices are all stronger than lil’l miss Pop’s is.

  • Kangarookeeper

No question Cassadee deserved to win and she will be a star.

  • Music101

It is sad that she won, but it is just a popularity contest. She already had a young fan base from her band that recorded an album, and the other, more talented contestants could not catch up with her in such a short amount of time. I know people disagree, but her voice sounds like a high, squeaky young girl in a small town talent competition. It was a good move to have her start standing still when she sings, because her pitch did get a little bit better.. I think that is awful in that is the only compliment I can give to this Season’s winner of the Voice….rewind back to the beginning and again it is only a popularity contest. I also guarantee she never would have won if she was unattractive or overweight!!!!
