Cathy,
Right or wrong everyone has made taxes the focus. I would personally ask the President if he gets the tax increases he wants then what? I would like to know some concrete goals so we can judge if this plan worked.
Cathy–how do you get things so balled up. It wasn’t less than 1 to 1. And you say, I believe, that you are a mathematician. Do you know the difference between the convolution theorem and evolution theory? The right wing kooks in the House just slammed Boehner–they couldn’t even pass a bill that cut meals on wheels for the elderly as well as food stamps because it included some tax rate increases. It’s official: the t-bags kooks have gained control of the GOP and Boehner is likely out………..
The moderate Repubs argued for Boehner’s plan but they could not control the t-bag kooks in their own party. The t-bag kooks want to raise taxes on the middle class, cut programs for the elderly (meal on wheels) and food stamps, and increase spending for DOD, which the generals don’t want or need. Conservative way out groups such as the Heritage Foundation support these absurd conservative positions.
Fox “News”, the GOP propaganda arm, is working hard to figure out how to position the fact that the t-bag kooks have taken over the GOP. Rumor has it that Rupert is nervous about this………….
Even CNN isn’t good enough for Cathy. I’ve found out that if anything goes against what the Republicans think they just say “THEY ARE PART OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY!!! aharasdfasgdshasdgfdfg!!!@!!”
I do not understand what the R’s are doing. Do they not know they will get hammered in public opinion if they do not agree to some type of tax increase? If they are so sure the harm they will do then that would be a win for them politically (at people’s expense but they will not be blamed).
@Ralph … your boy Sean got trounced in the key demo (by almost 100,000) by Rachel. Now THAT has to hurt!
This just in: The NRA has spent the past week in meetings with their marketing people, advertising agency, and their attorneys in an effort to develop a position on guns which preserves their goal (a lethal weapon in every pocket) while sounding like they are making some concessions on guns–not a easy task. Remember: nuclear repeating pistols don’t kill people, people do. But how long can they get away with this statement………..?
@BevAG … Are you REALLY criticizing President Obama for his vacations after ALL the vacations that George W. Bush took during his eight years in office?
GMAFB
@Bobbyv … The Reps did not learn the lesson of the 2012 election in which President Obama won big, the Dems picked up seats in the Senate, and more Americans voted for Dems in the House than for Reps (if not for gerrymandered safe seats due to the 2010 census). The Reps just do not get it. They are marginalizing themselves as a fringe party, and if they do not come out for some sort of gun regulation in the aftermath of Connecticut, they will go the way of the Whigs.
Boss,
In my naive political thinking the R’s can put themselves in a win-win situation: Give the President the tax increases he wants and you can position it that you are the great compromisers. If the plan works you can say you backed it, if it does not you can say “Hey, we told you so, we compromised against our better judgement because the people wanted us to and it did not work, just like we said”.
Of course, we need concrete goals from the President so we actually can judge the thing. No more than I am asked for at my job, and probably most of you as well.
What are they afraid of, the top 2% not voting for them?
@usa8888 … the R’s are done. You cannot be an angry, white male party and expect to be the majority party. It really is sad to watch the party become a fringe party dominated by nutjobs. The GOP use to be the party of Big Ideas. Now they have none. Well, actually, they have one idea … protect tax cuts for millionaires and damn everyone else, although the chasm between the haves and have nots is at epic proportions.
Lawrence is on fire right now! If he knew last night that Boehner did not have the votes for Plan B, why didn’t he? LMAO.
@Bobbyv … the R’s ARE NOT going to give in on tax increases. President Obama will take the R’s over the cliff and everyone’s taxes will go up. And the R’s will take the blame. It’s ALL on them. President Obama has them by the balls, and they are not smart enough to realize it.
@Bobbyv … you are a pragmatic guy. I always enjoy reading your posts. You make sense. Too bad not enough in your party share your views.
The R’s are done as a governing party. If they shared your views, they could be. But they are too stupid to realize it. You cannot have one single coalition in your party … angry, rich, white men … and expect to be the governing party in America.
To answer your questionk, they are scared crapless of being primaried if they voted for ANY type of tax increase, even for freaking millionaires. Unbelievable.
Boss,
I know, I do not get it. If we know it how can they not know it.
Where are all the right wingers that were on earlier. Are they running for the exits????????
Murdock and Ailes have to be paying close attention to how the ratings are trending and how much their lead has narrowed over the past several months. How long will it be until only their core audience remains and they are only preaching to the already converted? A propaganda machine doesn’t work too well if it is just the confirmed believers who are watching …
Usa888……………I have had guns for over 40 years and not one of them has killed anybody. I must have traind them better than some peoples dogs.
Usa888………..still looking to buy some tumbling bullets, can you please tell me where I can find them.
