A sad lump of coal in the stockings of Leverage fans, TNT has cancelled the series after five seasons. But there will be one final present under the tree in the form of one more new episode of Leverage on Christmas (Tuesday) night at 9pm.  Previously series creator and executive producer Dean Devlin had written that they'd prepared the fifth season finale as a series finale just in case in case it wasn't renewed. So it sounds like fans will at least get the closure they want.

TNT’s Leverage has thrilled audiences with its delightfully intricate plots, its “stand up for the little guy” attitude and its terrific performances from stars Timothy Hutton, Gina Bellman, Christian Kane, Beth Riesgraf and Aldis Hodge. But after five wonderful years, it’s time to say goodbye. Leverage will come to a close on Christmas, Tuesday, Dec. 25, at 9 p.m., with a series finale that stands as one of the show’s best episodes.

We are honored to have worked with executive producer Dean Devlin, Electric Entertainment, creators John Rogers and Chris Downey, and all the cast and production crew on Leverage. We look forward to exploring new opportunities to work with them again in the future. We also want to thank the

Devlin penned a letter thanking TNT, the cast and crew and of course, the fans of the series.

More stupid decision ever. TNT really sucks.

  • RJ

Bummer. I stopped watching after season three, only because I got behind on my DVR. I watched last weeks episode and will watch the series finale.

  • Brittany Reid

omg! TNT IS DUMB!!! lets petition to TNT!!

  • Michael

    BASTARDS…

  • Lori

Damn. And on the same day HIMYM is renewed, which makes it suck more.

  • Paleonut

    The Mayans were right!!!!

  • Dan S

Why am I not surprised ? TNT gets to play Scrooge & scheduled the series finale on Christmas when no 1 will be watching anyway. Bah Humbug

  • brutony

Its time-First two seasons were epic, last 3 sucked! Time to go!

  • bsp

Memphis Beat, Leverage… the only remaining TNT show that I watch is Southland. Is that one next?

I will say that I’m grateful that we fans gets advance notice, and that the showrunners were prepared with an episode that apparently will provide a suitable closing.

Maybe the team’s final play should be to STEAL A NETWORK…

At least Leverage fans have closure. Alphas fans are still hanging. SERIOUSLY, SYFY, IF YOU’RE GOING TO CANCEL ALPHAS, AT LEAST ANNOUNCE IT SO I CAN FREE UP THE DVR SPACE!!!!

    Good riddance! Lousy show!

NOOOO!! I was just telling people not to read anything negative in the scheduling tea leaves by it airing on Christmas since Rizzoli & Isles was airing the same night and it was a shoo-in for renewal. This was by far my favorite non-serialized show. Beth has been fantastic the whole series but especially this past season with Parkers development. She had me dying this last episode with the cracks about what people are most afraid of. I’ve really enjoyed this series and always keep a few episodes on my iphone to watch whenever I’m stuck in line somewhere. Thanks to the cast and crew. I love heist shows and Leverage past up Hustle as the best ever. Good luck to everyone involved in finding their next gig.

I hate to see Parker go–nail her once for me, Hardison! All the good stuff goes, while the crap stays (yeah, I’m looking at you, UNreality tv!

  • Dan

Such a great show but yeah after 5 seasons its time to end. Im going to miss Parker especially and hopefully Beth Riesgraf will get more work. Cant wait for the finale!!!

  • chrisjozo

The people at TNT all deserve lumps of coal for the shoddy way they handled this. All shows must end at some point but to keep everyone hanging until the very last minute is just wrong. At least you could have given the announcement earlier and properly promoted the last episode.

  • Melanie

    Dammit! I love Leverage!

  • scott

Crap, I really enjoyed this show. It has a great cast and fun plot. When other shows run out their welcome (HIMYM) this gets shut out in its prime. Shame.

  • Dan

At least the show is getting a proper finale. The creator said that the show would have the finale that was always envisioned so there’s that.

  • Restless

    Darn. :/

  • KVac

Seriously?! I would have predicted the world to end before I actually saw this show is being cancelled…this is the last straw TNT and it’s time to say goodbye…I’m blocking the station from my DirecTV not even my family members can choose it on accident…thanks for nuthin TNT…I hope in the finale the team steals the money from TNT and gives it back to us….at a time well wasted on having a great show just to see it snatched from us like…..
