A sad lump of coal in the stockings of Leverage fans, TNT has cancelled the series after five seasons. But there will be one final present under the tree in the form of one more new episode of Leverage on Christmas (Tuesday) night at 9pm.  Previously series creator and executive producer Dean Devlin had written that they'd prepared the fifth season finale as a series finale just in case in case it wasn't renewed. So it sounds like fans will at least get the closure they want.

TNT’s Leverage has thrilled audiences with its delightfully intricate plots, its “stand up for the little guy” attitude and its terrific performances from stars Timothy Hutton, Gina Bellman, Christian Kane, Beth Riesgraf and Aldis Hodge. But after five wonderful years, it’s time to say goodbye. Leverage will come to a close on Christmas, Tuesday, Dec. 25, at 9 p.m., with a series finale that stands as one of the show’s best episodes.

We are honored to have worked with executive producer Dean Devlin, Electric Entertainment, creators John Rogers and Chris Downey, and all the cast and production crew on Leverage. We look forward to exploring new opportunities to work with them again in the future. We also want to thank the

Devlin penned a letter thanking TNT, the cast and crew and of course, the fans of the series.

TNT/TBS’s execs strike again, they messed over My Boys and Babylon 5 now Leverage with last minute cancellations. These are just the shows that I kept up with, who knows how often they do this junk.

I’m not sure why I keep watching them, oh yeah Southland because it’s awesome, I hope they know the type of network they’re on and plan so that they get to end their show properly like Leverage did.

This great show gets canceled and then you bring in Cougertown? Wake up and renew Leverage, keep Rizzoli & Isles as well as Franklin & Bash. These are the best shows you have.

Sigh — you go offline for a week or so & this happens. TNT purposely tanked the chances for good ratings by not properly promoting the show the last few months IMO. With the exception of the toy episode, the season has really nailed it with character development. And I loved the relocation to Portland. This truly sucks. From Devlin’s letters it sounds like he isn’t even going to shop around & see if someone else will pick it up. USA would be a good fit or even Ion network which has been showing Leverage reruns.

I really think that decision was a bad one bc there any very many fans of leverage and each show keeps me rooted to my seat bc everything comes together at the end. I will sorely miss this show and I think that it could be continued with the same actors. I’ve only come across two other shows like this one, charmed and last resort. I really think if there was more publicity and more commercialized action for this show it could be a huge magnet for viewers

ANOTHER excellent show gone, while crap reality TV continues to reign. Too bad the Mayans were wrong. The end of civilization is coming to an end, however. The dumbing-down of America continues. How sad for us who enjoy quality TV. Maybe it’s time to go back to reading.

I know this is going to sound stupid but I just found out that the series was cancelled. Since, I have such a busy schedule, I watch the show from the On Demand feature on cable. To my shock and complete horror, I watched “The Long Good-Bye Job” episode, only to find out that it REALLY is The Frick’n Good-Bye Episode!!! For the record, I HATE YOU TNT!!! Leverage was the only thing on TNT worth watching! (Obviously, they have a bunch of morons running their network!) I am heartbroken! Farewell cast and crew of Leverage. I have grown to love you all, so very much!! It just won’t be the same with out you!! Your crazy antics will be sorely missed. :'(

I am saddened to hear this news. TNT, you and NBC can go to hell!! This show and the ill fated “My Own Worst Enemy” and “Heroes” were all great shows with fabulous characters. But, you still show this reality TV crap, and “Amercan Idol”, and I am supposed to have faith in the human race?!! F@&$ you TNT and I hope your executive read these heart broken testimonies from fans of good TV!! Maybe we should just turn it off?!! I hear a good book calling me!
