Happy Holidays! (Ratings Delays)

It's that most wonderful time of the year and we at TV by the Numbers wish you and yours a happy holiday season.

With both Christmas and New Years falling on a Tuesday, with the exception of the preliminary broadcast fast national ratings - which we should see on a normal schedule -- expect delays. All the stuff we'd normally get on Tuesday -- like Sunday cable ratings and Sunday broadcast finals and all the weekly ratings -- will be delayed until later in the week. The day after Christmas and New Years are also Nielsen holidays this year, so we will not see many of the ratings we normally get on Tuesdays until Thursday.

We'll mostly be caught up by Friday, but we'll go through the same thing next week with New Years.

On top of the Nielsen delays, as a result of the holidays, there may also be additional delays because the the kind people who normally forward us ratings are enjoying some time off.

Expect ratings delays, but enjoy the holidays!

Glad your headline says Happy Holidays. Some people don’t celebrate Christmas and Happy Holidays covers New Years as well. Thanks!

A moment of silence in honor of a passing yesterday…

…Jack Klugman, of The Odd Couple, Quincy, M.E., and 12 Angry Men :(

…this news, I would have been happier to see delayed by a decade or two.
