Tonight's broadcast line-up is nothing but reruns. The week between Christmas and New Year's is essentially a television dead zone, with even many cable networks opting to run repeats.  That can be frustrating for those of us who love TV. I am marathoning this entire season of Dexter, which I DVRd but never got around to watching. I am looking forward to New Year's Day when NBC will air a new episode of Parenthood. How are you surviving?

@Nick – NBC probably wouldn’t have aired a new Parenthood on new years day but they needed to air the remaining 4 episodes of the season before Smash premieres and they can’t air a new episode on January 29 if the episode will be premmpted due to the Presidential debate, so instead of airing Parenthood Jan, 8, 15, 22, and 29 they’ve moved the eps up a week.

I’m watching my Leverage DVDs. Summer – and the release of Season 5 is a long way off – but since TNT decided to can the show, I’ll watch it without them.

    Peace.

  • RJ

Season six of Dexter and seasons one, two, and three of Breaking Bad on DVD.

  • velouria

    Reading and playing video games.

  • CenterGravity

Catching up on my recorded shows! Almost done with the Spring finales now!

I have watched all the eps of The Walking Dead, which I always thought I wouldn’t like but I was hooked after the 1st episode. Now I’m watching the last few episodes of Rizzoli & Isles, final 3 eps of Flashpoint and a couple more shows I’m behind on.
I will also be watching the last 3 weeks of Big Brother Australia that ended 3 months ago, but I haven’t watched as well, because all the other shows I watch returned in the fall and intervened.

We recorded every episode of LUTHER over the summer but never had time to watch. Wow, what a series! We’ve also knocked out Season 6 of DEXTER. BREAKING BAD, and COPPER are up next. If all goes well, we’ll be down to movies left over from a free HBO weekend before broadcast cranks back up.

  • DryedMangoez

Watching Korean dramas and catching up on Super Sentai and Kamen Rider from Japan.

  • Freyja

I am playing Skyrim, WOW, The Secret World and other video games.. =) I watch all my shows live, so I have nothing left over in the DVR..

Watching Flashpoint (leave it to me to discover it the day before the series ended), also up to season 3 of SyFy’s FaceOff eality show (how did I ever miss this gem?) and continually on the hunt for new shows. Discovered episodes of The Listener (Canada has some really good shows) will be checking that out shortly.

I read, watch random TV shows and listen to music. It’s good to miss my shows a little bit! Besides, Emily Owens M.D., Cougar Town and Pretty Little Liars are coming back soon.

    @Melissa

I’m a huge fan of Desperate Housewives. I have NEVER missed an ep. While not the strongest season, I still enjoyed the final season, 8. Most every show falls from glory in the ratings . Check out long running CSI, GREY’s, TWO AND HALF MEN etc……. This season, certain dramas would kill for a 3.0+ (Revenge, Scandal, Nashville, Parenthood etc……

Here are my season grade ratings for the entire DH run:

Season 1- Solid A Great mystery that continued into the next season
Season 2- B+ So so new family addition and enlongated old mystery
Season 3 A- Very riveting mystery: (Orson) because Bree was involved.
Season 4 B+ Mildly enoyable featuring Dana Delany and family.
Season 5 B Similar to Season 3 (another psycho boyfriend)
Seaosn 6 B- Similar to Season 2 (new creepy family)weakest season
Season 7 A- Very well done. One of the better seasons.
Season 8 B Mostly fun, sometimes boring. Vanessa Williams featured more often. No real mystery this season, but a fantastic finish to a great show.

Netflix has encouraged me to cancel my cable.

  • AppleStinx

Re-tagging and renaming a backlog of digital music files on the computer and archiving them; checking TVbtN when taking breaks. I guess that “Eating and Sleeping” is the closest option.

  • JulieDawn

Besides the sleeping, eating and social visits stuff, have been mostly ‘cleaning up’ the stuff on my DVR – like eps of British series Silent Witness and Scott & Bailey, and Australian series Sea Patrol (all things I’ve been happily recording for months but never have a chance to watch properly amongst all the other stuff).

Also watching a couple of marathons on Canada’s SPACE channel – Doctor Who on Christmas Day, and The Almighty Johnsons today. Have started to watch Call Me Fitz on On Demand, along with several films I had been meaning to see for a while.
I’ve also re-watched several favourite Supernatual eps (on blu-ray) and might tackle the DVD of Terra Nova I got at Christmas and the new blu-ray of Firefly.

Okay that sounds like I am living in front of the TV but I’m not lol! I have actually been outside (although the snowstorm yesterday was good incentive to hibernate some more), and I’ve even been reading a couple of books!

    There’s lots of football!

In fact, I think all those college bowl games this week (December 24th-30th) could make ESPN the most-watched network, broadcast or cable, among key demos this week.

  • Raykov

I’m watching Homeland and so far I just started season 2
