#1 ROOTS PERFORMANCE IN CABLE TV HISTORY

NEW YORK, NY – December 27, 2012— Millions continued to watch and celebrate the 35th anniversary of ROOTS on BET. Close to 11 million viewers watched the 3-day ROOTS premiere weekend on BET, with premieres starting Friday, December 21 through Sunday, December 23, 2012. The Saturday, December 22 premiere of ROOTS PART THREE at 8:00pm is now the #1 ROOTS Telecast in Cable TV History, averaging 1.4 Million households. ROOTS PART THREE also ranks among December’s Top 10 Weekend Ad-Supported Cable Specials among total households. And, with a strong boost from ‘The Roots’ franchise, BET posted its best ‘non-tentpole’ weekend in the network’s history.

 

The #1 ROOTS telecast in cable TV history, ROOTS PART THREE averaged 1.8 million viewers among 1.4 Million households, garnering a solid 1.5 coverage rating on Saturday, December 22 at 8:00pm. ROOTS PART THREE is also the #1 weekend ‘non special’ telecast this season on BET. ROOTS PART FOUR, premiered at 10:30 p.m.* on Saturday, averaging 1.8 million viewers among 1.3 Million households, and delivering a 1.5 coverage rating. On Sunday, December 23, ROOTS PART FIVE, premiered at 4:00 p.m.* and averaged 1.4 Million viewers among 1.1 Million households, garnering a 1.2 coverage rating. ROOTS PART SIX, which premiered at 6:30 p.m. *, averaged 1.7 million viewers among 1.3 Million households, garnering a 1.4 coverage rating.
