hey …if the 2% havent created jobs in decades how did unemployent go from 9% down to 7.8% when gvt jobs went down…i guess they all became self employed …..the lefties never figure that you will use logic to debunk their bull…
Since the NEWS OF THE MOMENT is the on-going vote for Speaker, here’s a fun fact (that most of you probably know, but whateva): There’s no Constitutional requirement that the Speaker of the House be a sitting member of the Congress. So, if they wanted to, the Republicans could make, say, Newt Gingrich the Speaker.
Dana–It’s because the right wing GOP has been unsuccessful in their absurd effort to block ALL sppending, even on unemplyment–which would have an adverse effect on job growth. And, because the US is the driving force behind technology and creativity, superb companies like Apple have attracted good audience for their products, which has led to lots of consumer spending, which in turn has helped drive the economy. These types of things have occurred in spite of the right wing GOP doing everything to KILL our economy. My comment about product demand is key–don’t know why the right wing can not grasp it???? The moderate GOP gets it. You don’t drastically cut spending in a depression or bad recession. When the economy starts humming, then you can cut spending, but by then you have lots of additional tax revenues pouring into the US Treasury…..
@d.d. & coffee thank u!!!! Going appliance shopping, not looking forward to that :/
Hope everyone has a pleasant day!!
usa8888…oh, now i get it…if we do what you are saying obama wont have to ask for a trillion dollars 1n 2013,2014,2015,2016, like he did in 2009,2010,2011, and 2012…why cant i belive your theory…
Uh oh,Somebody’s crying again!!
Speaker Boehner is crying again
You would be too, if performing your job required you to, at the least, craft legislation that will somehow please Obama, Reid, AND Cantor all at once. To even move something out of the House, you have to either cut a deal with your own majority, which is to the right of the Senate, which means the Senate might not hold a vote on what you pass, or cut a deal with Pelosi, who is to the left of Obama and Reid, which means crafting something that your own moderates might not sign on to, and that McConnell is likely to filibuster. What a madhouse.
Matthew,
I have to agree, Boehner job is hard.
For the reps, maybe good to have a non house member as Speaker. That would through Obama and the dems off.
Reps could do a nice little spin like. There’s so much work to be done they decide to bring ” ” in to help.
I know republicans aren’t happy but those no way a 80% or more rep district is going to not put a republican back into office.
Dana–most of our debt was the result of Bush’s unfunded wars, drug plans, and tax decreaes that were NOT reflected in the budget. Add on to this the FACT that you don’t cut spending in a bad recession or depression. Further, there should be some cutting of the defencse budget (i.e., reducing the rate of increase) based on generals’ recommendations. Robme was dead wrong when he said we should have the same number of ships we had decades ago–of course, it depends on the tecnology of the ships…..And then some right winger came to Robme’s defencse saying that the marines still use bayonets and we should have more of these, too. How idiotic in this day and age!
Hey, did you see where the extreme right wing radical Amy Kremer of the Tea Party Express (and I thought this group was extincet…oh-not quite yet, apparently) tweeted from another universe that she was against Sen Chambliss of Georgia and all the Repubs voting for Obama’s fiscal plan …and that she would do everything to get him ousted–probably call in some of the Koch Bros’ money to try to buy an election. Kremer wanted the US and the world economy to go over the edge into oblivion. Of course, this woman has no education in economics and her frame of thinking is circa the Cival War…..she forgets that her errorneous and deleterious philosophy was SOUNDLY DEFEATED in the recent election and that all polls show the American People support Obama’s fiscal plan–even the moderate GOP supports it…..but this lunatic fringe persists……..
I knew this would get ugly.
And in the latest development: the most notorious local paper of the year’s mail room received a strange envelope filled with white powder.
Source.
While the powder turned out to be harmless the intent of whoever sent it seems pretty clear.
0.28 C above the 30 year average.
Now tell me that’s not in the margin of error. Scientists (on both sides) are full of BS IMO. They think they can measure the global temp in some cases to the 100th degree.
UAH Global Temperature Report: 2012 was 9th warmest
Source.
The source is a skeptical/denier source. The UAH in one of several that measure the global temp. UAH data comes from two skeptic scientists, but their data is usually consistent (sometimes warmer) with other sources that believe in AGW. When i see the reports from other sources (NASA, NOAA, Met Office, etc) I’ll post them.
National Geographic Channel to Produce Film Based on ‘Killing Kennedy: The End of Camelot’ by Bill O’Reilly
MSNBC wins all but one time slot on the weekend.
usa,
I don’t like to feed the trolls
but,
The President said families would save on average $2,500 a year on their premiums.
We now know that’s not the case.
According to the “Kaiser Family Foundation,” Obamacare has already increased the cost of health care even though most of the law hasn’t even gone into effect. Kaiser says 6 out of 10 Americans will see their premiums go up with the average cost for families being $1300 a year
.You can keep your own insurance and doctor… remember when Obama said this?
“If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period. If you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what.”
Wrong again.
The latest report from “The Congressional Budget Office” and “The Joint Committee on Taxation” says up to 20 million Americans could lose their employer-provided health insurance – a direct result of Obamacare.
The CBO says the health-care law will cost $1.76 trillion over a decade – that’s double what the President said it would cost. He’s off by about $800 billion – not even close enough for government work.
TSK TSK TSK. Should have let them pass a public option, instead of an insurance mandate – it had a lower public spending cost (the insurance mandate necessitates Medicaid expansion, the Public Option does not), and would have forced more competitive market prices.
@d.d.
Liked the video. Sea turtles are cool. They can be very playful. Saved the link so I can show the better half. She will start bugging me on going diving if you can say that is bugging me that is.
