Happy New Years–will be asleep when it rolls in so here is my thought and wish for you all–
Be at War with your Vices, at Peace with your Neighbours, and let every New-Year find you a better Man—(or woman—my edit). ~Quoted in Benjamin Franklin’s 1755 Poor Richard’s Almanac
@Letmethink……………….thanks for the info. We give our dog two shots a day also. HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE!
Thank you usa8888. You just have to look at the U.K. and most of Europe to see that. The U.S.A. could borrow money and near record low interest and just fix the bridges, highways, ports, etc. and the economy would turn around by the end of the year.
You need to fix the infrastructure anyway, so you might as well do it when it will cost the least amount of money.

he died 27 years ago tonite in dekalb texas in a firey plne crash.
Exactly right, C. S. Strowbridge. But unfortunately we have people like 1966, Bev, Cathy, Doug who don’t have a clue about economics and, like the right wing t-bags in the House, want to RUIN the US economy by drastically cutting spending in times of bad recessions. If these people had any education at all and if they didn’t hate Obama so much, our country would be in much better shape. Fotunately, the right had big losses last election and will probably suffer the same fate in 2014. On the social front, the incredibly dumb Rick Perry (he almost flunked out of college)is trying to do away with Planned Parenthood in Texas, which is just another example of the right’s WAR ON WOMEN.

happy new year everybody.

Yikes! I completely lost track of time. At first I guessed that “he” would be Buddy Holly!!!
My second guess was Ronnie Van Zant.
AppleStinx – Let’s go to Hillbilly’s place for the New Year. 1966?s mansion is going to be just too cold today.

Happy New Year 1966 & AppleStinx.

Best wishes for a great New Year to all the regulars, and to Hillbilly’s non-music Buffys and Hildegardes too.
Nancy, it just seems a little tooo convenient this information about a blood clot came out. Remember this is the woman who went to a wine tasting in Austraila to escape congressional hearings. This is the person who blamed the ambassidor for his own desmise because he sent her too many emails. And you can bet this clot will magicly disapear when she gets ready to run for the presidency. You forget, she’s married to ‘slick Willie’ and is the brains of that outfit.
Think beyond your nose.
@1966-Love how Arlene Francis solved the mystery guest!
The Senate overwhelmingly passed the faiscal bill, with 40 of 45 Repubs voting for it. The Senate Repubs are encouraging the House Repubs to vote for the bill. The House is dragging its feet in bringing it to a vote and we will see if the right wing t-bags can be brought to their senses by the moderate Repubs and dems in the House. If the t-bags vote no, they will almost certainly be voted out in the next election. And if the they vote for the bill, they will have repudiated the anachronistic thinker Grover Norquist and showed some sense…….

House races are different then Senate races. In house races you just have to please a million people in your district. In many districts you can put Mickey Mouse as the candidate for your party and they will win because the district won’t vote the other party
I don’t see how Grover can be against the bill, simple fact it is a tax decrease because the alternative is that if the deal isn’t passed people under 400k have higher taxes. I think my personal beef with this is it’s idiotic that they wait till the Bush Tax cuts expire on Jan 1 to vote to decrease taxes back to those levels for people making under 400k. Would it make any difference voting for this on like Dec 20 instead of Jan 1(other then the symbolic idea that if they did it on Dec 20th it looks like they are choosing to increase taxes for people over 400k, while if they do it now it’s a tax decrease because taxes went up at midnight)

============================
Since taxes have in fact gone up, is it accurate to say that republicans have broken their pledge not to increase taxes?
