Via NBC Press Note:
In Late-Night Metered-Market Household Averages for Saturday night: * From 11:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m., "NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly" (4.9 rating, 11 share in metered-market households) is up 14 percent versus last year's 4.3/10 to deliver a three-year high. It's the annual telecast's highest metered-market rating since a 5.2 on December 31, 2009. Other late-night averages last night included: Fox's "New Year's Eve Live," 2.8/6 in metered-market households from 11 p.m.-12:30 a.m.; and "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2013" on ABC, 10.6/25 from 11:30 p.m.-1:15 a.m. * In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly" (2.8 rating, 10 share in adults 18-49) is up 8 percent versus last year's 2.6/9 to match its highest rating in the Local People Meters in three years. Other results were a 2.0/7 for Fox's "New Year's Eve Live" and 7.7/29 for ABC's "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2013." * National results for the December 31 late-night programs, including viewer numbers, are due from Nielsen Media Research on Thursday, Jan. 10.
You can see TV ratings from other recent Overnight ratings reports here.
Definitions:
Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.
Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)
Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Happy New Year everyone!
Why bother competing with Dick Clark’s NYE? Either join in or watch it from home Carson!
Happy New Year All.
LOL Mob Doctor did worse than its Saturday airing.
Not surprised the Dick Clark’s Primetime New Years Eve show was so large this year.
Wow, great night for ABC!
The last person on the planet I would want to be watching on new years let alone EVER. Carson Daily is a poser squid.
The late night segment was sure to be even higher for ABC (and NBC too, but they won’t even come close to ABC). ABC doesn’t have a release out yet, but I’d expect one soon. 22.5 million viewers and a 7.8 A18-49 is my guess for ABC. NBC: 7.2 million and 3.4
Why do they bother with Carson D.? NBC should try something completely different if they want an audience. ABC would be even better if their show didn’t have that mugging, annoying Jenny McCarthy constantly on camera.
WOW! CW beat a Fox original with a special
Happy New Year all and GO ABC!
Between the Olympics, Idol and New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, Seacrest will have hosted the top-rated show on NBC, Fox and ABC last year
(NFL excepted)
I’d rather watch Carson then Seacrest. But Kathy & Anderson killed it again. Now that’s the way to ring in the new year!!
Now even though I was at someone’s house for New Years, I was still very surprised that ABC didn’t cut to the ball drop…they just played that concert straight into the new year…I heard that NBC and Fox did, but who was I to tell them to change the channel?
Also, TVbtN, when you click on the “All Posts” button on your website, it directs you to the 2012 archive. It needs to be updated to direct you to the 2013 archive.
Look at the Mob doctor.
Sad.
Isn’t the second paragraph under “Via NBC Press Note” the A17-49 ratings? If so, New Year’s Rockin’ Eve got a 7.7! Over a 2.6 and a 2.0.
Happy New Year from Bulgaria!
Is that seriously the most attractive picture of Taylor Swift you could have found from last night? haha

as noted, it is the late-night (in this instance 11:30p-12:30a) 18-49 ratings in the 25 markets with local people meters. Those local people meter ratings are much more subject to change than the preliminary fast national ratings — which sadly, there aren’t any for the late-night day part, so we’ll have to wait until the finals which won’t be available until ~1/10. Last year New Year’s Rockin’ Eve part 1 got a 7.4 A18-49 rating so a 7.7 isn’t out of the question. We’ should see a week from Thursday.
Lol at H50
YESS, ABC won Christmas Eve & New Years Eve!!!
