Definitions:
Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.
Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)
Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Is there a place I can look up start dates for the mid-season premieres?
CBS repeated badly.
The Iheart music special the CW showed did good. I think it was the same as what they aired back on October 2. They repeated it i think. Everything but ABC did terrible.
Still not the same on ABC without Dick Clark. Rest in peace fine sir. You are missed!
3 things:
1) Happy New Year everyone! Here’s to another year of snark on tvbtn!
2) That picture makes Taylor Swift look just like Traci Lords (dating myself a bit).
3) Kathy and Anderson on CNN were awesome last night. A new tradition in our household.
amazing numbers for ABC.
did they promote their shows a lot? i just watched a little bit here and there and saw one revenge promo and one scandal promo.
Not a fan of NBC and especially not a fan of Carson Daly. He seems nice enough but he’s as interesting as dry toast. I’ve watched all 3 seasons of The Voice and I cannot stand him as the host. He’s very awkward and cannot ad lib well at all. Hate to admit it but it really proves how talented Ryan Seacrest is as a host, even if we can’t stand him either. The Voice could have better ratings if they had a great host.
“did they promote their shows a lot?”
Mostly The Bachelor & The Taste.
Happy New Year everyone!!
Oh, and I don’t think Bones did too bad (demo-wise), considering the rerun was from last season.
One would think that New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly would of done better. The Voice was huge this past Fall. And many viewers, specifically the targeted youth demo, has gotten to know him very well as host. Maybe if he had the judges from The Voice as co-hosts the special would of performed better.
Why “YESS”?! ABC are just a network yet with the most annoying distorted press releases around.
Dick Clark is almost as popular as Elvia!
Why didn’t they show the ball drop on NBC, all they showed was people kissing. Very disappointing.
I hope Emily Owens does well tonight, since it’s the only show in that slot that is coming back from hiatus tonight.
I always watch DC’s NYRE every year but during commercial breaks I watch Carson for a few minutes. Give him props for competing because each year they are establishing a bigger audience.
@K,
You do realize that H50 was a rerun? Besides, it did better than HIMYM and M&M in overall viewers and it had the same demo.
@Timothy

Good ratings for ABC. Now they get back to ratings reality next week with The Bachelor. I don’t expect much.
New Year’s “Rockin’ Eve” hasn’t “rocked” for decades, but I guess the viewers who watched wouldn’t know the difference. R.I.P. Dick Clark, but his NYE show was always lame and now it’s worse with Seacrest as the primary host.
@Noname_Rex
The viewing of the ball drop depended on where you were viewing the show. On most ABC affiliates it aired live, so if you watched DCNYRE last night outside of the Eastern time zone, you saw the ball drop an hour or two before your time zone struck midnight. However, some ABC affiliates and even some NBC affiliates may have aired alternate programming after their local news and decided to air the ball drop to correspond with their own time zones striking midnight. In my Central time zone city outside of Chicago, the ABC affiliate aired the ball drop on DCNYRE live, yet the NBC affiliate showed some choir singing in the hour after the local news and rejoined Carson Daly and the ball drop just before midnight.
