TOPS ABC BY OVER 800,000 TOTAL VIEWERS
JANUARY 3, 2013 – “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” was the most-watched network evening newscast for the week ending December 28, 2012, according to Nielsen Media Research data. The NBC broadcast averaged 9.097 million total viewers, +825,000 more than ABC "World News’" 8.272 million, and +1,851,000 more than CBS "Evening News’” 7.246 million.
NOTE: Brian Williams was off the entire week. Due to the Christmas holiday, all three networks are based on a three-day average (Wed-Fri).
“NBC Nightly News” Weekly Highlights:
Nightly delivered 9.097 million total viewers, +10% (+825,000) more than ABC World News and +26% (+1,851,000) more than CBS Evening News.
Nightly averaged a 5.9/11 Household rating, ahead of ABC’s 5.4/10 and CBS’ 4.8/9.
Nightly has won for 172 consecutive weeks in total viewers, and in 219 of the past 220 weeks among total viewers.
Nightly delivered a 2.1 A25-54 rating, +3 tenths ahead of ABC’s 1.8 rating and +5 tenths more than CBS’s 1.6 rating.
Among A25-54 (000), Nightly averaged 2.504 million viewers, +394,000 viewers ahead of World News’ 2.110 million and +592,000 ahead of Evening News’ 1.912 million.
Nightly has topped World News in A25-54 (000) for 214 consecutive weeks.
Versus the same week last season, Nightly was up +4% in total viewers and in key demo ratings: +5% among Adults 25-54, +10% among Women 25-54, +6% among Men 25-54
Quarter and Season-to-Date Highlights:
Versus the 4Q’12-to-date average, Nightly was up +6% in total viewers and in key demo ratings: +5% among Adults 25-54, +10% among Women 25-54, +6% among Men 25-54
Season-to-date, Nightly leads World News by +786,000 total viewers, and by +353,000 Adult 25-54 viewers.
