Lets hope ABC and Prospect Park doesn’t destroy GH.Mouse house at it again I believe.Hope all these soaps keep there veiwers and all stay forever.

  • Greg

GH is doing great because Ron C and Frank V know how to bring FUN and EXCITEMENT and CAMP and SUSPENSE and THRILLS and LOVE and ADVENTURE back to the soaps!

You watch Y & R and DOOL……rarely anything fun and exciting or suspenseful happening. Its the same ole/same ole and its driving away the viewers….moreso for Y & R. Y & R and DOOL need new writers who write similar to Ron C. Writers who know how to bring in the soap audience!

  • Derrick

Both Y&R and B&B has been GREAT. Don’t understand the ratings!!!

  • TimsDale4ever

Greg, I don’t know anything about GH but you still took the words right out of my mouth. OLTL blew me completely away in all of 2011/12 under the reign of Ron and Frank — I could NOT keep my eyes off of it, and at the end of many of those episodes my head was spinning at how much was thrown at me in 37 minutes….. Y&R has given the meaning of boring a whole new definition. Characters just sit around and basically talk about the weather through the entire hour. It’s gone way past awful! Did we really need 5 scenes on New Year’s with Victor and Nikki talking to each other by themselves about the usual dribble? — and the same could be said of Billy & Victoria’s scenes by themselves talking about bascially nothing. The show has potential but it’s going to take someone else to get in there and reb things up. It’s like needing to poke a stick in a sleeping tiger’s cage to get him to get up and move and growl!

  • Joie

Could Days’ hourglass be running out of sand soon? At this point, the odds aren’t in the show’s favor that it’ll be renewed past September. The people in charge at Days need to get their stuff together.

  • TimsDale4ever

… and the very fact they are down about 600,000 viewers from this time last year proves that what they are doing now and since Oct is NOT working!

  • Jeff

@ Greg– right on about GH. It hasn’t been this good since the early years of Wendy Riche. LOVE GH right now. Watch every day again. Yesterday’s episode was awesome, and I can’t wait to see today’s show. I predict GH being over 3 million average soon, and I will say by it’s 50th anny, it will be #1 in the 18-49 demo.

  • Sophie

Greg you are so right. I’ve watched GH since the beginning. It is soooo Good right now. The best it’s been. Your right about the excitement. The Love with the couples. I can’t wait everyday to watch it. I loved Carly and Todd yesterday. It’s the whole show. Way to go GH. Your the best and I’m loving it… THANK YOU! And the ratings show it!!!!!

  • TimsDale4ever

But I’m also the one who usually feels the complete opposite of basically everyone else. I haven’t understood Y&R’s large numbers for the last 25 years or so, but they’re way out in front with total viewers… I did sample DAYS over the past 2 weeks being off from work alot, and that show to me seems like it’s got it’s act together — but the ratings are low. ??? It’s like in prime time. The BIG BANG THEORY has ratings through the roof and that show is complete nonsense to me. I don’t get the appeal of it at all, and it has around 20 million viewers weekly. ???

  • Shoynna

@TimsDale4ever, I could not agree more. You are so right about Y&R. The show is beyond boring. I saw the worst episode ever this week when everything happened “off” camera and the characters just “talked” about it! LOL Seriously, Chloe (out of character) stole supposed drug money from a small, open-floor plan house that was occupied at the time. Unreal. Why would she risk losing her daughter over this nonsense?! Jack woke up with a dead call girl after being drugged out of his mind. He then had a faux heart attack and did not even spend any time in the hospital. Genoa City needs Obamacare desperately!!! They can’t even afford to treat supposed heart attack victims! Y&R is not better; it’s just boring. Once the ratings bottom out, Sony/CBS will have to change headwriters. Again.

  • Shoynna

Days ratings baffle me. It should be doing a little better. The show isn’t that bad. It’s just a bit boring. Jennifer and Daniel are drop dead boring. I can fix Jennifer. She starts seeing Jack everywhere. She thinks she’s losing her mind. No, Jack survived. He stayed away because he knows she has feelings for Daniel. Instantly Jennifer is more interesting. Put her back with Jack. Abby’s with Chad, a Dimera. Let them disapprove and think Chad’s a cad (and gangster like his family). Daniel needs Chloe or someone else (NOT Kate). I like the Will/Sonny/Gabi/Nick SL because Nick is one twig away from snapping. Makes it interesting. Kristen needs to up her game. Love her. But she needs to go full blast with her revenge plans. Days needs to step it up, make us want to watch for goodness’ sake.

  • Jenny G

This is bizarre. DOOL has been must see TV for me the last couple of weeks. With the exception of the holiday episode things have been moving along nicely. Jennifer and Daniel finally getting together and crazy Kristen and Brady…awesome!!!

  • Shoynna

Days has been a well-written snoozefest; Y&R has been a badly written, boring snoozefest! Days needs to have Bo missing and presumed dead so Hope can get a life and find a new romance (right now she’s a busy body; didn’t she get the memo? That’s Jenn’s gig!)

  • Cass rowlwland

you all understand that if the revolution on abc was a success gh would already be gone

  • Shoynna

If MAB planned to kill off Sharon in Feb sweeps as rumors indicate (claims of notes to this affect found in her office after she was fired), that would have been a HUGE mistake. Y&R would never have recovered from that. If MAB thought making Sharon undeniably unlikable would give her carte blanche to off the character, she would have been BADLY mistaken. Guess it’s good MAB is GONE. But JG needs someone to add creatively and insight to his writing, maybe a co-headwriter who has vision that extends beyond the mundane. I believe it’ll happen because JG’s vision for Y&R is one-note at best — and flat-lining at worse.

  • Mike

Turning Y&R into GH is not the answer. Y&R needs to become Y&R again. Y&R was #1 for so long for one reason — it dared to be different. While everyone else was doing the return from the dead stories, the camp, the big adventure stories, etc. Y&R dared to be different. It didn’t turn into the Luke & Laura prototype with let’s freeze the world stories. While all of them were copying one another Y&R was telling stories about business, Sheila obsessed with Lauren, teenage alcoholism, the Jill and Kay feud, and so on. They told stories that were multi-generational and had the best African American cast and stories than any show. Plus every character on Y&R was written well right down to even Paul Williams secretary and his mom. Even Kay’s maid got in on the story.

In the last few years, we have seen the show become more sensationalistic, more plot oriented, rewriting stories and then even rewriting the rewrites. Stories like a guy faking his death to keep his family from knowing he is gay or a guy who slept with a guy to keep his secret. But yet they were just plot points, didn’t do anything for the characters, and had no long term effects on the story. They were just for shock and awe — something that the true Y&R would have never done. Those should have fueled story for years but they didn’t. In fact the guy who faked his death was part of a main family yet he was gone within a month or so after his big reveal.

Turning Y&R into the campy stuff that Ron C. writes will be the quickest way to make me quit watching. That is not what Y&R is. I want Y&R to be about good old classic psychological adult drama that it used to be.

I also want Y&R to start taking the chances it once did. It was the first to show partial nudity (first to show a guys behind) and even was the first in the 70s to show actresses wearing no bras under their clothes, and the first to show couples in bed, etc. I was totally embarrassed when they made such a deal in the press over the gay stories and then didn’t even show the guys really kissing or even in bed. It was so lame.

The Y&R I once loved has suffered so much at the hands of the hacks in the last few years. I sure wish someone would wake up.

When you look at the daily ratings, all the shows but GH seem to have consistency in their viewing. They are all up and down from one day to the next but not by big numbers.

Everyday GH would either gain from 200,000 or more or lose that much even up to almost a half million viewers lost from Tuesday to Wednesday.

Makes u wonder why so many would tune in and out that much.

  • Shoynna

@Mike, you’re right. Y&R was a psychological sexual drama. Bill Bell wrote the same kinds of stories for Days, ratings went up, and CBS gave him a chance to create his own show, Y&R was the result.

  • LynTX

@Mike, you are so on point! I truly enjoyed the adult-oriented/inspired s/ls. I am now so apathetic to Y&R.

  • lullabelle

DOOL’s Christmas episodes were very different to the other three shows, so it will be interesting to see viewers reactions in next weeks ratings release. The storylines need to be pacier with more impact-moping around the local Church does not necessarily make compelling viewing!Enough of the invisble Bo! I laugh when Hope says he’s out the back, doing the school run, on a boat, on the boat but getting water!? Pleease WE KNOW he’s not there-bring him back with or without a new face or kill him off period. If Bo is gone then give Hope a storyline!
