Hey everyone, I was reading as I always do and will comment on the passport thingy to Canada.
After 911 GB said passports were needed and it caused a big kerfluffle in Canada
as all Canadians and Americans ever had to do until then was show a picture ID.
It caused a rift of sorts both economically and socially. Many had to stop cross border shopping. Many Canadians work in Detroit / US.
As it stands now to enter the US by car you need an “enhanced drivers licence” but to fly into the US you need a passport.
Canadians were very much treated as Europeans after 911. imo Mexicans were treated better.
Maybe it’s me. But has anyone else noticed how health the children on the “Feed the children” ads look lately?
I remember the days when the children were skin and bones with the big bellies you get from Kwashiorkor. Can’t they show the real children anymore or have we come so far now that the children are just hungry not starving?
I just saw your post Cathy….Pelee?
or bob-lo or belle? ok I will knock it off now
@sunshine

True, you can just walk across the southern border. We are even kind enough to warn Americans not to enter that part of the US because it is not safe to do so. When you make it across the southern border, you get all kinds of free perks.
Sunny Baby Darlin!!!!!
I sure hope you have not been peeking while i was sick cuz I was a SITE!!!
@Ratboy
I peeked
and I wondered if you had gotten your flu shot.
Hiya Letmethink!
Hi Sunshine–thanks for clearing up the passport thing.
Do you find the Canadian agents to be much friendlier than US agents or do they just take to me and my husband? We only have the 8 trips so 16 experiences but we comment each time how friendly they are and how different our experiences are with US agents.
I agree but once in a while we run into a real b**ch and it is usually a female. I think they are afraid we may have gotten a good bargain on our shopping trip lol.
OK-gotta’ go. Usually limit myself to a short visit in the morning and same at night. It has been so pleasant this AM, I have hung around. Need to accomplish something. Have a sick grandchild—flu–so taking some comfort food over to her.
Have a good one all!!

Hiya AppleStinx
LOL nope, It takes a bit more to rattle me. (Usually something political)
@Sunshine Grosse Ile… I’m on the American side. Bois Blanc Island is the name of the Island but it was called Boblo because of the name of the Amusement park. It is a Canada Island that has few year round residences. You have to us a boat to get to it. My family was at Boblo island the last day of operations. Pelee is also in Canada and it’s in Lake Erie. Beautiful island have been there many times before 2001.
Belle Isle is only a park.
Piece of trivia. Why is Belle Isle spelled ISLE while Grosse Ile is spelled ILE?
Both our French names. Belle means beautiful. So the feminine spelling ISLE is used.
Grosse means BIG and you would never call a woman big. So the masculine spelling of ILE.
Hellllllllllo Sunshine
@Everyone
For 5 Bonus points what does the term Grammatical mean?
@letmethink, I have always found the Canada agents friendlier in general. Expect at the Niagara Falls area, the Canada agents at the Falls area are pains. I think they want you to take the buses from one side to the other not your personal car.
