Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    You mean The Mob Doctor was on last night!

  • Shanna

    The Mob Doctor pathetic cw numbers… so sad

  • TheFollowing

    @Bill and @Robert

    In your analysis, Fox will likely to settle in 3rd or 2nd in 2012-2013 season?

  • http://tvbythenumbers.com Bill Gorman

    “@Bill and @Robert

    I haven’t looked at the numbers closely enough to make any kind of informed guess, but once things get going in early 2013 I’ll put the numbers together and do a post.

  • petfeeder

    NBC wildcard Saturday Night numbers looks like they’re down from last year since it was a blowout more or less but I’m sure NFL spins them by demo to make them look better than they actually are.

  • Ultima

    @petfeeder
    but I’m sure NFL spins them by demo to make them look better than they actually are.

    As far as I’ve seen, the NFL uses total viewers and HH ratings consistently.

    Also, they’ll be more concerned with how the four game weekend performed as a whole, instead of just the one primetime game.

  • JoJo

    Mob Doctor was great last night..the last 2 minutes were intense. Too bad this show never took off.

  • K

    With the football game on, why did the other networks even bother

  • Ultima

    @K
    With the football game on, why did the other networks even bother

    Because the game only had a 26 share… which means 74% of adults 18-49 watching TV last night were watching something else.

    Obviously.

  • AprilFox

    I agree with JoJo, MOB DOCTOR was excellent last night (and actually last week too). Looks like ABC is giving Happy Ending and Don’t Trust the B, the death knell of 10 and 10:30 pm.

  • David

    The game was boring and never went anywhere because Webb couldn’t throw so I’m surprised that the ratings were that high. The Redskins and Seahawks will crush the building today because you couldn’t have picked two more identical teams with exciting qbs.

  • jp

    Both wild card games were dull but still NBC should finish strong for the week. FOX will get a great number into primetime for Redskins vs Seahawks.

  • Yamaha

    @ April Fox

    I agree I’m disgusted with how FOX was more patient with their low-rated comedies that weren’t going anywhere and pulled the plug so fast on Mob Doctor which could’ve grew as it was an excellent overlooked series.

    “I agree I’m disgusted with how FOX was more patient with their low-rated comedies that weren’t going anywhere and pulled the plug so fast on Mob Doctor which could’ve grew as it was an excellent overlooked series.”

    Like many TV writers, you confuse “patience” with “not having anything else to put on the schedule”.

    And to say they pulled Mob Doctor “so fast” is ridiculous. It had horrible ratings and will air 13 eps, and lasted through November in its original timeslot.

  • Yamaha

    @ Bill

    I don’t really care what you say honestly they could’ve kept it a lot longer, FOX could’ve just moved Glee back to Tuesdays and The Following after Idol on Thursdays and problem solved.

  • Austin Lauran

    I know this is off topic, but since barely anybody is commenting on here, I wanted to ask this question:

    Is it true that reality TV shows have ruined CBS, ABC, & NBC? On a website, I read that was the reason that no dramas on CBS, ABC, & NBC were nominated for best drama series at the 2012 Emmys. I wanted to reply to that comment & explain that’s not the reason why no dramas on the big 3 networks were nominated for best drama series at the 2012 Emmys.

    I mean there’s more scripted shows that reality TV shows on the big 3 networks, but people still complain about how there’s too many singing/competition shows, dating shows, etc. Do you think it’s true that the reason no dramas on any of the big 3 networks were nominated for best drama series at the 2012 Emmys due to the fact that “reality TV shows ruined CBS, ABC, & NBC”?

  • Tom

    Why is FOX continuing to call tomorrow night’s episode of “The Mob Doctor” as the “season finale”? It is obvious that with the low ratings and Saturday burn-offs that they will not renew it, so why not just call it the “series finale”? I agree with the above posters though, last nights episode was very good!

  • Bitter Ringer Fan

    @Yamaha so they’re just gonna move around their schedule (and mess it up) just to try to save a super flop show that tanked since its freaking pilot? talk about crazy!!!!

  • Dan

    Well atleast FOX is giving The Mob Doctor a proper burn of, ensuring that all episodes of every show will air this season.

  • MBmomof3

    Dull? I don’t know what game you were watching, but the Packer game was GREAT! Go, Pack, go…all the way to the Superbowl! :-)
