Solid for Deception! I wonder how it would have rated, if The Voice was the lead-in.

  • rob60990

Not an awful start for Deception. That’s about what Revolution would probably do without being propped up by a big lead-in.

Ok start for The Bachelor. It will probably rise in the middle of the season when the drama starts like it usually does.

  • Stefan

Are Sunday and Mondays Cable finals delayed?

  • http://tvbythenumbers.com Sara Bibel

Yes. I will post them as soon as we receive them.

  • Stefan

    Ok, thanks Sara.

  • BigFlop

solid for deception ???? hahahaha, it was horrible!!! a bad show deserves those awful numbers. very disappointed.

  • ethan

Not great for deception, but at least it skews towards the demo…kinda funny that castle got 3 mill more viewers and still lost

  • Katie

@BigFlop You honestly thought Deception was horrible? Most people that I see comment say they really liked it. I thought it was very intriguing and keeps you guessing. Pretty good for a pilot episode. I never will understand why people judge shows and make up their mind that it’s bad just after watching ONE episode. It’s just getting started, people needs to give shows more of a chance.

  • KevinSW

I dunno why everyone is talking down deception, it did better than Nashville and many other 10 PM shows, even if it’s just the premier.

If it performs Solid, NBC could always bring it back next season again to fill in the Revolution Void every year, 11/13 episodes every season?

Much like Smash taking over for Parenthood this season, it’s a formula they could continue to work IMO, If both shows perform well. Bring em back every season for 15/16 episodes and always have em replace each other.

  • Ryann

Deception has had a good start, better than chicago fire premiere, so as long as it stays above 1.7 it should get the edge over chicago fire.

  • torylicious

    glad for deception good premiere

  • BigFlop

that difference is too small 0.1 and you should take account that Nielsen ratings are not perfect and have a wide margin of errors. but Nielsen always insist on giving Caslte the worst numbers possible and thus they get the second place. 2.1 + 1.8 / 2 = 1.95 so technically is 2 for that show. I am following Nielsen tactics about Castle and i find it ridiculous.

  • JoJo

10 pm dramas so far this season have hovered around the 2.0 demo rating give or take a point. By no means is the premiere of Deception considered a failure with a 2.0

  • Fred

    Agreed JoJo,

A 2.0 is considered fine for a 10:00 slot. In addition this show has been available ON DEMAND and ON LINE since December. The real test is how much retention the show can hold for the second week AND against original CBS programing.

  • Judy912

I realize that a 1.9/5 is not great for a 10 PM series with the 18-49 prime age demo group but I’ll take ‘Castle’ any time. Too bad the overall viewership doesn’t account for much with the advertisers. ‘Castle’ is still one of my favorite programs on TV today.

  • bluejays

That’s not a bad start for Deception. It’s not Revolution numbers but a 2 isn’t exactly low for a ten pm slot these days.

NBC is doing strangely well this season. i didn’t think TBL would do as well as it has.

Castle did good with a lack lustre lead in.

  • Nick

Deception did OK. We will have to see next week. TheFutonCritic says that new shows drop about 14% from The pilot to episode 2, but that it based on viewer totals. Does anyone know the average for A18-49?

I never thought I’d say this, but The Mob Doctor did fantastic. Just as good as it did before, when it was not on burnoff. Who knows? It might’ve done fantastic if it got a better sampling.

  • Nick

Castle did good with a lack lustre lead in.

This lead in is the best Castle has had all season, with the exception of DWTS’s last performance episode.

  • silvit

Bwah! So now Nielsen is in a conspiracy against Castle!!!

By the way, the average you made is not how the ratings work. Do you realize the numbers you see are rounded hence they are not totally exact? Nielsen know exactly the numbers of viewers in the sample. Then they give out the rounded numbers. But if the final result is a 1.9, this mean for certain that the REAL numbers of viewers is between 2.341 million and 2.465 million. They get first hand the raw viewers numbers, not the demo points.

    I can’t even with certain fans…

  • Ultima

    2.1 + 1.8 / 2 = 1.95 so technically is 2 for that show

    That’s not how math works.

The average of 2.1 and 1.8 is not 1.95. The average of 2.10 and 1.80 is, but you have no idea if those are the half hour ratings that Castle had.
