Joe Kennedy is a fun read. It has been a long time for me. Good post.
Letmethink
I did not understand. can I collect ?
Greta crushes Larry O!
Tingles, can’t get a leg up, the thrill is gone!
The Ed show? people would rather watch reruns of Mr. Ed!
Rachel? Hannity has better hair!
The five vs. Sharpie? Racism 5 against 1!
@AppleHave you thought of becoming a farmer like Bruce Sprinsteen, Jon Bon Jovi and Ted Turner? (look up “Subsidies of the Rich and Famous”)
They are really cutting back on ag exemptions unless you are one of the privileged ones like the ones you mentioned. Lots of our neighbors bought land from people who had ag exemptions. They wanted to continue with the crops/animals and get the exemption. They are getting denials and run arounds and really have no recourse. You can’t fight the government.
Funny story. We have 2 1/2 acres–a big veggie garden, a big green house and I have planted practically the entire acreage. Three years ago I got a notice the Dept of Ag stating that they were aware I was running an agricultural enterprise. They wanted to know how many animals, what kind of crops, how many people worked on the property and in what capacity, chemicals used and in what amount–on and on. I spoke with the county ag agent and he said to ignore it. I did for two years and the 3rd year I got a notice saying if I didn’t respond, they would send an agent to my property. I called and they said something had triggered the investigation—INVESTIGATION???— and that I must send in the report. I filled it out—five chickens, 3 dogs, fish in the tank, vegetables for our table and to share with neighbors. One old man and one old woman work the property. Well see if I hear from them this year. What a waste of time money, effort and how infuriating. I feel more and more like I live in a gulag with big brother watching every move.
@ Doug Z–you have to have resources under 2-3 thousand dollars but as stated in most instances the house does not count. I know people who have a lot more than that and they get food stamps. There is really very little accountability as to who gets it and how it is spent.
ooops sorry Kathy^Cathy
Letmethink
What about your IRA, Does that count,
Will the Mostly Sycophantic National Barrack Channel be forced to make changes? I pity the advertisers that signed up to have their products viewed on this lemon. MSNBC the Edsel of news networks.
@DougZ
I am not sure. I looked briefly. It seems as though 401K does not count but IRA does. It also seems that it varies from state to state. I really wouldn’t accept anything I just posted as fact though. I have never looked into food stamps extensively except the number that get food stamps and how it is increasing so rapidly. When you posted that you couldn’t receive them if you had a house, I was curious as I thought I had seen some reports of people living in very nice homes receiving food stamps.
OK, I have more than exhausted my quota of time online so need to get busy.
Have a great one all!

I am 56 and was just wondering
@Ratboy
Build an Easy 5 x 5 Home Greenhouse for under $25
So far so good…

No need Doug. The Kennedy family likes to portray themselves as an Irish Catholic rags to riches story. But they are a rich to richer, family through thieve and corruption.
Question for everyone. If I’m watching the local news and it’s on the Fox broadcast network. Is it Fox news? I mean I’m talking about Fox news Detroit it doesn’t seem conservative to me but it doesn’t seem left leaning.
New poll about congress approval. It’s only 9%. Liberals love to point to this number and say it shows that republicans are losing. However the study also showed that dems and independence give congress a 3x higher rating, then republicans give congress. Does it surprise anyone that Republicans aren’t happy with congress?
@Rats
PS:
While we haven’t had extreme cold yet, the green house seems to keep the soil around 70+ even on the cold nights and the humidity level stays high, so if my pepper plants grow well I’ll let ya know
Wow – Ed’s combined scores don’t beat O’Reilly’s 8 p.m. scores. Hannity has been beating Maddow consistently since the New Year. Same for Greta vs. “Plagiarism” O’Donnell. I agree that Greta needs to keep Trump off her show – while I admire him as a successful businessman, he adds little or no value on the subject of politics. Frankly, she’d be better off bringing on someone such as Thomas Sowell or even Jack Welch. I think we’re going to see Fox maintain it’s significant lead over the others.
Doug Z, I know food stamps are handled by the states differently. But food stamps are handed out based on your income and not your net worth at least that’s how Michigan hands it out. I know people who lived on 5 million dollar houses and were using food stamps for two years. There may be a limit to how long you can get food stamps before they see at your net worth.
In Michigan you can get a welfare check as long as your net worth is under $35000.
If welfare is a safety net, you shouldn’t have to sale your home (if it’s a modest house) to use it.
Mike
Jack Welch does very little with the public eye. I want him for President. When GE was great, he ran it.

When my ex-wife left and I bought her out of the house which was substantial and then she got her final % with the divorce which was more substantial, she collected food stamps, and all kinds of assistance!! She does not need it but she had decided that she too is ENTITLED! She has a doll collection that is worth numbers with 6 figures not to mention a bunch of jewelry and she has her little food stamp card! Drives me NUTS!!!!!
Aaaaaand Americans return to the REAL news network. FOX!!!!!!
@ cathy
Fox News is on the Fox News Channel (FNC) national network, the one that has Hannity, O’Reilly, Megyn Kelly, Fox & Friends etc.
Fox Detroit seems left leaning to me as is most of Michigan.
MSNBC crowd are in shock they just saw thier paycheck and they making less money. They thought their taxes werent going up no one thin dime except 2% FIAC tax. Someone lied to them.
